Glenda G. Smith, 46, of Millerstown RR 2 died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 at home.
She was born Sept. 2, 1954 in Carlisle Hospital to Shirley G. Baltosser Ellerman of Loysville RR 2 and the late Roy G. Ellerman.
She co-owned the Mountain Springs Hotel, Liverpool, with her husband; and was a member of Mountain Springs Hotel, Liverpool Legion and Sutter's Home pool leagues and Liverpool Ambulance Club.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Jan L. Smith; a daughter, Kimberly S. Rice of Liverpool; a brother, Brian S. Ellerman of Landisburg; two sisters, Sue A. Leigh of Newville and Jeannie Carroll of Harrisburg; and a grandson, Devin S. Rice.
Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, handled arrangements.

Harry E. Smith, 64, of Liverpool RR 1 died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 at home.
He was born March 31, 1936 in Middletown to the late George and Virginia (Bailey) Smith.
He was a retired State Capitol policeman in Harrisburg and had worked as a private investigator and as a chef in area restaurants; attended Greenwood schools; a member of Calvary Temple, Harrisburg, Fraternal Order of Police, Liverpool American Legion, Oriental Valley Sportsmen's Club, Veterans Affairs Association and several Christian organizations; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing guitar and singing.
Surviving are his former wife, Ruth Boyle Smith of Liverpool RR 1; two sons, Paul W. of Middletown and George W. of Liverpool; five daughters, Tammy L. Luckenbill of Harrisburg, Amelia E. Richmond of Liverpool, Robin M. Hiester, Beulah (Bee) Strawser and Diane M. Smith, all of McAlisterville; two brothers, Paul Barner of New Jersey and Charlie Barner of New Cumberland; four sisters, Margaret Brubaker of Liverpool, Dorothy Hammaker of Port Royal, Betty Zososke of California and Diana Herris of Washington; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Barner; two brothers, Howard and Paul Smith; and a sister, Thelma Barner.
Services were held Sept. 16 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool, with the Rev. Theodore A. Janke officiating. Burial was in Blue Ridge Memorial Cemetery, Harrisburg.
Harold V. "Todd" Smith, 82, of Loysville RR 1 died Sunday, March 12, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born June 23, 1917 at New Germantown to the late Vernon and Gertrude S. (Snyder) Smith.
He was retired from PennDOT of New Bloomfield; a farmer; and a member of Three Springs Church of the Brethren, Blain, Blain Fire Company, Blain Ambulance Club and Camp Fairview Hunting Club, Blain RR 1.
He was the widower of K. Elizabeth Stambaugh Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Harold E. "Buck" and V. Steven, both of Loysville RR 1; a daughter, Barbara S. Peterson of Newville; a brother, R. Gene of Blain RR 1; a sister, Marie L. Smith of Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 15 in his church with the Rev. John S. Kipp officiating. Burial was in Blain Cemetery.

Junior H. Smith, 70, of Windy Hill Road, Shermans Dale, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
He retired from Locust Point Stone Quarries, Mechanicsburg.
He was the widower of Jeannette L. Smith, who died in 1998.
Surviving are three sons, Kenneth H. and Daniel J., both of Shermans Dale, and Donald L. of Carlisle; seven daughters, Connie L. Swope of Mount Holly Springs, Barbara E. Barry, Mary Jane Smith, Bonnie E. Russell and Patricia A. Wright, all of Carlisle, Linda M. Sella of Coraopolis and Marjorie L. Chohany of Hanover; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russell, and two daughters, Brenda and Debra.
Services were held Dec. 4 in Mount Holly Springs Church of God with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Burial was in Mount Holly Springs Cemetery.

Joe S. Saltsburg, 85, of New Bloomfield RR 1 died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He retired from the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg; an Army veteran of World War II; a member of Roseglen United Methodist Church and Duncannon American Legion Post 340; and a softball coach and player in the Perry-Juniata League.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Hartz Saltsburg; four daughters, Sharon Wilson and Mary Ann Camacci, both of New Bloomfield, JoAnn Gallagher of Marysville and Bonnie Morrison of Duncannon; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 12 in his church. Burial was in Landisburg Cemetery.

John Richard Showers, 68, of Millerstown died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 in Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg.
He was born Aug. 27, 1932 in Millerstown to the late John S. and Grace (Siemanski) Showers.
He was employed by Sprint at Newport and Carlisle for 41 years as a lineman, installer, repairman, member of the testing board and in facility layout until his retirement in 1994; a 1950 graduate of Greenwood High School, Millerstown; delivered Meals on Wheels; a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church and its church choir, Zembo Temple, Zembo Chanters, Zembo Luncheon Club, Scottish Rite Consistory and the consistory choir, Perry-Juniata Shrine Club, Newport Royal Arch Chapter 238 and Millerstown Fire Company and Ambulance League; a member and past master of Newport Lodge 381, F&AM; and enjoyed golf, woodworking, music and attending his grandchildren's activities.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Mildred J. Simonton Showers; a son, Richard A. of Red Lion; two daughters, Sue Magill and Sandy Spade, and a brother, Ronald, all of Millerstown; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 23 in Sheaffer Funeral Home, Millerstown, with pastor Katherine A. Behrens officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

Kenneth A. Sheaffer, 81, of Pisgah State Road, Shermans Dale, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Aug. 9, 1918 in Dellville to the late Andrew and Catherine (Zeigler) Sheaffer.
He retired from Frog Switch & Manufacturing Co., Carlisle; and was a member of Young's United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale Fire Company, Maple Hill Hunt Club in Arnot, and Eagles Aerie 1229 and the White Circle Club, both in Carlisle, and past treasurer and on the board of directors for the Snyder's Cemetery Association.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, G. Louise Printz Sheaffer; two sons, Ray K. and Bruce C., both of Shermans Dale; a daughter, Anita, at home; a brother, Lester Z. of Shermans Dale; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 11 in his church with the Rev. R. Bruce Woolever officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Lee Edwin Shearer, 82, formerly of Carlisle, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000 at his home in Naples, Fla.
He was born in Carlisle to the late John and Grace (Martin) Shearer.
He was owner of Shearer Brothers Welding, Carlisle; an Army veteran of World War II; and a life member of the VFW, White Circle Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagle 1299 and South Mountain American Legion 674.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Dick Shearer; a daughter, Ann Lee Thomas of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two stepdaughters, Shirley Adams Cline of Carlisle and Esther Adams Swigert of Naples, Fla.; four sisters, Ruth Deitch of Mechanicsburg, Evelyn Swigert of Naples, Fla., and Martha Belcher and June Martin, both of Carlisle; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary McCoy, and a brother, Roy "Bill" Shearer, both of Carlisle.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 5, in Youngs United Methodist Church Cemetery, Shermans Dale.

Matthew D. Shumaker, 23, of Tuscarora Path, Ickesburg, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Aug. 8, 1977 at Carlisle Hospital.
He was an employee of Flying J Travel Plaza, Carlisle, and a former employee of Universal Packaging Inc., Mechanicsburg; a 1995 graduate of West Perry High School, Elliottsburg; and participated in a softball league in New Bloomfield.
Surviving are a companion, Ronica L. Cummings of Duncannon; his father, Ronald R. Shumaker of Ickesburg; his mother, Margie S. Diehl of Elliottsburg; a brother, Daniel J. Shumaker of Colchester, Conn.; his paternal grandmother, Betty G. Shumaker of Shermans Dale; maternal grandmother, Violet R. Diehl of Carlisle; and a niece.
Services were held Oct. 25 in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. E. Levain Fouse officiating. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Shermans Dale.
Margaret N. Schuchman, 86, of Spring Road, Shermans Dale died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was born Aug. 7, 1914 at Shermans Dale to the late Walter and Minerva (Ruhl) Shearer.
She and her late husband had owned and operated Schuchman's Wood & Coal, Carlisle, Schuchman's Fruit Dale Farms, a dairy farm, Schuchman's Ferguson Farm Equipment and Schuchman's Used Cars, and had sold Christmas trees, all at Shermans Dale.
She was a notary; a member of the Church of Christ in Carlisle; and attended Young's United Methodist Church, Shermans Dale.
She was the widow of Richard L. Schuchman.
Surviving are two daughters, Delores M. Lowe of Shermans Dale and Helena S. McAlister of Carlisle; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 17 in the Church of Christ with Gary Cook officiating and Edward Dyche assisting at graveside. Burial was in Young's United Methodist Cemetery.
