Robert W. Simpson, 77, of Old Ferry Road, Millerstown, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born July 2, 1923 in Pittsburgh to the late William N. and Elizabeth (Patton) Simpson.
He retired in 1969 from the Navy as a master chief machinist's mate; had been a part-time beef farmer, opened the Newport H&R Block office and worked in the state Capitol's heating plant; was a 1941 graduate of Pitman (N.J.) High School; a World War II veteran; raised and trained beagles for field-trial competition; and enjoyed bowling.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Reta M. Willard Simpson; two sons, William H. Yoder of Atco, N.J., and Robert J. Simpson of Millerstown; a daughter, Carol D. Reich of Millerstown; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russell W. Yoder.
Services were held Dec. 19 in Sheaffer Funeral Home, Millerstown, with the Rev. James A. Neimond Jr. officiating. Burial was in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Millerstown.
Steven C. Smith, 41, of Pine Grove Road, Gardners, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000 in Penn Twp., Cumberland County.
He was born Feb. 26, 1959 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was employed by Alexander Constructors, Inc. as a project engineer, and a former employee of E.C. Snyders Millwork, both of Harrisburg; a 1977 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and Cumberland-Perry Vocational Technical School; a member of South Mountain American Legion Post 674, Mt. Holly Springs; and enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving are his parents, Miles S. and Ruth K. Keller Smith of Loysville RR 1; two brothers, Michael W. of Landisburg RR 2 and Rex Scott of Houston, Texas; and his paternal grandmother, Edith C. Smith of Blain RR 1.
Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. George C. Martz officiating.
Viewing will be 3 to 4 p.m.

Virginia Ann Sheibley, 61, of Green Ridge Village, Newville, formerly of Landisburg, died Friday, March 10, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born Sept. 25, 1938 to the late Scott Stewart and Erma M (Rice) Sheibley.
She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Landisburg RR 1; a cat fancier; and enjoyed growing flowers.
Surviving are aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held March 14 in her church with the Rev. Donald L. March officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

William A. Stimeling, 83, of Fickes Lane, Newport, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born Feb. 12, 1917 in Perry County to the late Dyson and Jennie (Ricedorf) Stimeling.
He retired from Carolina Freight Co.; was an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Ickesburg, and American Legion Post 177 and Moose Lodge 1562, both of Newport.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn R. Stimeling, and a daughter, Wilma of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Services were held Dec. 2 in his church with the Rev. Karen Easterly officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in Buffalo Cemetery, Ickesburg.

William L. "Smitty" Smith Sr., 73, of Regency Court, Carlisle, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Nov. 25, 1926 in Blain to the late Charles L. and Audrey (Diffenderfer) Smith.
He was retired from PPG, where he was a glass processor for 14 1/2 years; a Navy veteran of World War II; and a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Jean M. Woodward Smith; two sons, William Jr. of Duncannon and Martin B. of Carlisle; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 6 in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Anthony DeRosa officiating. Burial was in Letort Cemetery, Carlisle.
Crystal Lea Tidd, 37, a resident of Conewago Residential Services, Abbottstown, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000 in Hanover Hospital.
Surviving are her parents, John S. and Patsy K. Howell Tidd of Marysville; one brother, James M. Tidd of Carlisle; her maternal grandmother, Lillian May Howell of Duncannon; Edith Trone, her housemother at the center who took care of her; and all the other caretakers at the center.
Graveside services were held March 18 in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville.

Donald F. Tarner, 68, of Blain RR 1 died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000 at home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1931 at Juniata, Blair County, to the late Merle and Ethel (Wishard) Tarner.
He was a retired customer service representative for GTE; had been employed as a dispatcher by Hall's Trucking and Yellow Freight Trucking Company; a graduate of Altoona High School; and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis M. Calderwood Tarner; two sons, Donald S. of Loysville and Andrew E. of Blain; three daughters, Julie L. Pilsits of Etters and twins, Jennifer M. Rexroth of Mechanicsburg and Jodi L. Pottiger of Halifax; and 10 grandchildren.
Burial was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville RR 2.

David W. Thompson, 58, of Liverpool died Tuesday, March 14, 2000 at home.
He was born March 16, 1941 in Millerstown to Esther (Arnold) Thompson of Liverpool and the late Lawrence Thompson.
He retired from the Postal Service; was a graduate of Greenwood High School; and a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Liverpool, Newport Moose lodge and Liverpool Fire Company.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 37 years, Doris M. Earnest Thompson; two sons, Wade A. of Millerstown and Larry W. of Liverpool RR 2; a brother, John R. of Liverpool; a sister, Linda J. Russell of Carlisle; and six grandchildren.
Services were held March 17 in his church with the Rev. James R. Bramer officiating. Burial was in Liverpool Union Cemetery.

Helen L. Trout, 80, of Newport RR 3 died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000 at home.
She was born July 27, 1920 to the late William Morris and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Morris Hornberger.
She was a former Avon sales representative and team leader; a former substitute houseparent for Milton Hershey School; a member of Incarnation United Church of Christ, Newport, and its Women's Guild; and enjoyed reading and cooking.
She was the widow of Lawrence E. Trout.
Surviving are three daughters, Nada Kennedy of Elliottsburg and Treva Shenk and Marie Pryor, both of Newport; a brother, Robert W. Morris of Shermans Dale; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, William K. Hornberger, and a brother, Gerald Morris.
Services were held Nov. 5 in her church with the Rev. A.O. McGill officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Kathryn E. Troutman, 86, of ManorCare, Sunbury, formerly of Middleburg, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000 at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1913 in Susquehanna Twp., Juniata County, to the late John Calvin and Catherine V. (Erlmeyer) Spicher.
She was educated in Juniata County schools; a homemaker; a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Middleburg, where she was a member of the Sunday school class No. 5; and enjoyed crocheting, reading and gardening.
She was the widow of John A. Troutman, who died Jan. 25, 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Clementine I. of Beavertown and Arlene M. Lepley of Middleburg; one son, Clyde M. of Selinsgrove; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Earnest, and three brothers, Clarence, Lloyd and Lee.
Services were held Jan. 27 in Hummel Funeral Home, Middleburg. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
