Glenn J. Herbster, 82, of Beavertown RR 1 died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
He was born Oct. 26, 1918 in Troxelville to the late James and Bessie (Steininger) Herbster.
He retired as a farmer; had been employed at Bethlehem Steel, Harrisburg, Reigle's Mill, Paxtonville, and National Limestone Quarry, Middleburg; served as a Beaver Twp. supervisor; attended St. Peter's Independent Bible Church, Beavertown RR 1, and formerly attended Salem Independent Brethren Church, Middleburg, where he was a Sunday school superintendent for 25 years; a life member of Rescue Hose Company, Beavertown; a member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America; and enjoyed deer hunting and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, OlaJean Bailey Herbster; three daughters, Marjorie J. Baker of Lewistown, Sandra L. Seasholtz of Sunbury and Linda M. Herrold of Selinsgrove RR 1; a son, Richard E. of Duncannon; three sisters, Phyllis Hassinger of Alaska, Vesta Lessman of Sunbury and Ruth Walter of Middleburg RR 4; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cloyd, Bruce, Parke and Donald Herbster, and two sisters, Augusta Herbster and Dorothy Mitchell.
Services were held Nov. 18 in Hummel Funeral Home, Middleburg, with the Revs. James Plank and Darvin Reich officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.

Joseph F. Arnold Sr., 81, of C Street, Carlisle, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 in Carlisle Hospital.
He was born Aug., 24, 1919 at Mt. Union to the late Frank W. and Lila (Berry) Arnold.
He retired after 30 years with Penn Central Railroad, Enola, and drove school bus for Farney Bus Co.; was a Navy veteran of World War II; and a member of American Legion Post 101, VFW Post 477, White Circle Club and Eagles Aerie 1299, all of Carlisle.
He was the widower of Geraldine Houser Arnold, who died Dec. 1, 1996.
Surviving are twin sons, Joseph F. Jr. of Carlisle and Jack L. of Shippensburg; two daughters, Jolene N. Barrick of Landisburg and Linda L. Stone of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas; a daughter, Tina M. Miller; and a brother, Leroy.
Services, with military honors, were held Feb. 9 in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Howard A. Kerstetter officiating. Burial was in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
Robert R. Arnold, 60, of Spring Road, Shermans Dale, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1940 in Newport to the late William and Elizabeth (Klinger) Arnold.
He retired from Ralston Purina and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia B. Arnold; two sons, Robert R. Jr. and Christopher M., both of Shermans Dale; a daughter, Tammy K. of Carlisle; five brothers, John of Mannsville, Harold and James, both of Newport, Larry of California and Milton of North Carolina; three sisters, Kathleen Armstrong of Camp Hill, Peg Morrison of New Bloomfield and Mary Pontius of Indiana; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 27 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Jeff Brewster officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.

Zora O. Arnold, 98, of Centre Twp., New Bloomfield RR 2, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 in Carlisle Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1903 in Enola to the late Miles and Amanda (Fuller) Rice.
She was a retired teacher of 30 years with the West Perry School District; a graduate of Shippensburg University; and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Elliottsburg, Retired Teachers Association, Perry Chapter 459, Order of Eastern Star and the Neighbors Club.
She was the widow of Harry Simonton, John Martin and Roy Arnold.
Surviving are two sons, H.E. Simonton Sr. of New Bloomfield RR 2 and John C. Martin of Mechanicsburg; a stepdaughter, Jane C. Dyson of Camp Hill; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 10, in her church with the Rev. Miriam Nicholson officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Ickesburg.
Myers Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Arias M. Brownback, 24, of Loysville RR 1 died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001 in Philadelphia.
He was born May 9, 1977 in Reading to Michael and Terra A. Barchet Brownback.
He was a graduate of West Perry High School, where he participated in football, basketball and track.
In addition to his parents, surviving are a daughter, Ivory Moon Brownback; a brother, Will H., and a sister, Amelia M., all of Loysville; his maternal grandparents, Ron and Beverly Barchet of Downingtown; paternal grandmother, Mae H. Boyce of Norristown; paternal great-grandmother, Violet Hunsicker of Norristown; and maternal great-grandfather, Reinhold Barchet of Downingtown.
A memorial service was held Aug. 18 in Warm Springs Lodge, Landisburg RR 1.

Tyler Robert Bream, infant son of Donald and Tammy Sherman Bream of Landisburg RR 1, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 in Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
In addition to his parents, surviving are a brother, Nathaniel, and a sister, Courtney, both at home; his maternal grandparents, Olive and Robert Sherman and Chester Sherman, all of Landisburg; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Annette Bream of Gardners; a maternal great-grandfather, Charles Stone of Landisburg; and paternal great-grandmothers, Alice Austin of Bendersville and Zoila Bream of Gardners.
Services were held April 4 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Donald March officiating. Burial was in Bloomfield Cemetery.
Trevon Steven Baum, infant son of Jeromy and Audrey Music Baum of Meadow Lane, Shermans Dale, died Monday, June 4, 2001 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born April 16, 2001.
In addition to his parents, surviving are a brother, Jaren Paul Baum, at home; his maternal grandparents, Steven and Donna Rhea Wenger Music of Carlisle; his paternal grandmother, Phyllis Baum of Shermans Dale; paternal great-grandmother, Grace Baum; and maternal great-grandparents, Blair and Janet Wenger and Elfredia Music, all of Carlisle.
Services were held in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Revs. William Boublitz and John Kipp officiating. Burial was in Mount Gilead Cemetery, Carroll Twp.
Charles F. Baker Sr., 82, of Liverpool RR 1 died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn York Corp. and had been owner/operator of Baker's ARCO Service; a graduate of Northumberland High School; a Protestant; past treasurer of Liverpool American Legion; member of Liverpool Ambulance League; a Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed reading.
Surviving are a son, Charles Jr. of Frederick, Md.; a daughter, Penelope Woollard of York; a brother, Macks of Sunbury; two sisters, Gladys Bostian and Florence Steese, both of Northumberland; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 9 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool. Burial, with military honors, was in Barners Cemetery.

G. Clyde Beaver, 87, of Mountain Road, Millerstown, died Friday, July 13, 2001 in Forest Park Nursing Home, Carlisle.
He was born Feb. 27, 1914 in Pfoutz Valley, Millerstown to the late George E. and Jennie (McLinn) Beaver.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Pfoutz Valley United Methodist Church, Millerstown, and the Pennsylvania Farmers Association.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Stephens Beaver; three sons, Wayne C. of Thompsontown, Philip M. of Millerstown and D. Stephen of Evington, Va.; a daughter, Stephanie B. Barnett of Red Lion; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held July 17 in his church with the Rev. Dr. James Behrens officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery.

Charles H. Burns, 86, of Sunbury Street, Millerstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 in Hershey Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 25, 1915 in Juniata County to the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Geiselman) Burns.
He was the founder in 1946 and former owner of Charles H. Burns Inc., active in the business until age 70; a graduate of the former Thompsontown High School; a Navy veteran of World War II; a member and past master of F&AM Lodge 371; a member Millerstown United Methodist Church, Newport Royal Arch Chapter 238, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine and its Luncheon Club, the Perry-Juniata Shrine Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 88, Millerstown Fire Company, Moose Lodge 925, Newport American Legion Post 177 and Millerstown VFW Post 5049.
He provided sound equipment for community events, helped with Millerstown Fire Company carnivals and enjoyed model airplanes.
Surviving are his wife, Bettie Scholl Burns, whom he married in 1944; a daughter, Donna B. Wright of Millerstown; a brother, Robert of Saltillo, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Jodi and Loren Burns.
Graveside services were held in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown, with the Rev. Dr. James Behrens officiating.
