Jane E. Flickinger, 74, of Millerstown died Monday, March 19, 2001 in Lewistown Hospital. She had been a resident of Brookline Manor, Mifflintown RR 1, for two years.
She was born Sept. 7, 1926 in Harrisburg to the late Sellers C. and Amy (Lukens) Nipple.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a housekeeper for Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon, and Nipple Convalescent Home, Liverpool, and as a presser at Millerstown Dress Factory; a 1945 graduate of Millerstown High School; a member of Millerstown United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, Lodge 925, Millerstown, and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 364, Liverpool; and enjoyed gardening, flowers, dancing and playing the piano.
She was the widow of James C. Flickinger, who died Aug. 24, 1998.
Surviving are a son, Terry R. of Millerstown, and two grandchildren.
Services were held March 22 in Sheaffer Funeral Home, Millerstown, with the Rev. Peter M. Beddia officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown.

John Wesley Fisher, 3, son of John Samuel and Wilma High Burkholder Fisher of Elliottsburg RR 2, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 as the result of a farm tractor accident.
In addition to his parents, surviving are two brothers, Samuel W. and Seth J., both at home; his paternal grandparents, Joseph M. and Lavina S. Allgyer Fisher of Myerstown; his maternal grandparents, Christian G. and Miriam S. High Burkholder of Thomasville; and great-grandparents, Levi S. Burkholder of Frystown and Edith and John David High of Myerstown.
Services were held April 2 in Schaefferstown Mennonite Church. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
Clauser Funeral Home, Schaefferstown, handled arrangements.
Martha E. Ferguson, 78, of W. Main Street, New Bloomfield, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 in HealthSouth Rehabilitation of Mechanicsburg.
She was born Aug. 26, 1922 in Philadelphia to the late Maurice and Martha (Fornie) Flurie.
She was retired from the federal government; a volunteer tax consultant for AARP; and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, New Bloomfield, Perry Chapter Order of the Eastern Star; Central Perry Senior Citizens Inc., New Bloomfield, and New Bloomfield Rebekah Lodge.
She was the widow of Gordon Collier and John M. Ferguson.
Surviving are two sons, William Collier and Michael Collier, both of Newport; a stepson, John G. Ferguson of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mary Shaw of Virginia; a brother, Paul Flurie of Halifax; a sister, Lucie Prosser of Littlestown; nine grandchildren, including Todd Collier, with whom she lived; two stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 26 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Alan K. Foor officiating. Burial was in Perry Heights Cemetery, Marysville.
Ruby C. Foose, 72, of Centre Twp., Newport, died Saturday, April 7, 2001 in Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Carroll Twp. to the late Edward D. and Jennie (Knisely) Wilson.
She was a Protestant and enjoyed crafts and crocheting.
She was the widow of Harry C.N. Foose. Surviving are three brothers, Edgar, Paul and Lenus Wilson, all of Newport; and three sisters, Treva Brown and Patricia Miller, both of Newport, and Janet Benson of New Bloomfield. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Wilson, in 1965, and a brother, Max Wilson, in 2000.
Services were held April 11 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with the Rev. Cheryl Dorman officiating. Burial was in Newport Cemetery.
Richard E. Fuhrman, 72, of Newport RR 4 died Thursday, May 3, 2001 at home.
He retired as a conductor and brakeman from Conrail and was a former member of the Enola and Newport Moose lodges.
Surviving are his wife, Donina Fuhrman; a son, Richard J. of Rehoboth, Del.; a daughter, Patricia A. Gilmer of Dauphin; a brother, Robert, and a sister, Mary Steiner, both of Dauphin; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services were held May 8 in Geigle Funeral Home, Susquehanna Twp. Burial was in Dauphin Memorial Cemetery.

Robert S. Fry, 72, of Woods Drive, Mechanicsburg, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
He was born July 4, 1928 in New Bloomfield to the late Elmer and Sara (Frownfelter) Fry.
He retired as a regional sales manager from Bear Automotive; was a 1946 graduate of New Bloomfield High School and attended Temple University School of Pharmacology; an Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109 and the Mechanicsburg Club; and attended Trinity United Church of Christ, New Bloomfield.
Surviving are his wife, Crystal Fry; two sons, David R. of Westmont, N.J., and John A. of Harrisburg; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Dum of Shermans Dale and Susanne T. Marrazzo of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Richard A. of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Helen Lyons of Elliottsburg and Lavina Malatestinic of Enhaut; and 14 grandchildren.
Services were held June 15 in Boyer Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, with the Rev. Alan K. Foor officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.

Alton B. Hower, 71, of New Bloomfield RR 2 died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
He was born Dec. 6, 1929 in Turbett Twp., Juniata County, to Ruth Anna Woodward Hower of Newport and the late Blaine Hower.
He retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 520; was a 1949 graduate of Newport High School; an Air Force veteran of the Korean War; a Jehovah's Witness, who attended meetings in Kingdom Hall, Elliottsburg; and enjoyed hunting, fishing and travel.
In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Shirley A. Asper Hower; five sons, Russell of Palmyra, Randall of New Bloomfield, Roger of Coronado, Calif., Roy of Lewisberry and Rex of Ohio; a daughter, Ruth of New Bloomfield; two brothers, William G. of Mechanicsburg and Earl of New Freedom; two sisters, Doris Brookhart of Largo, Fla., and Patricia Kluck of Biglerville; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Jan. 20, in Kingdom Hall, Elliottsburg.

Alice E. "Babe" Hershman, 77, formerly of S. Market Street, Liverpool, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born April 5, 1924 in Berwick to the late Lewis and Alice (Knouse) Drumheller.
She formerly worked at Harrisburg Hospital in dietary services and at Penn Harris Hotel, Camp Hill, in the laundry department; was educated in Luzerne County schools; a Protestant; and enjoyed country-western music.
She was the widow of Curtis J. Hershman, who died in 1970.
Surviving are a son, James C. of Harrisburg; four daughters, Mary E. Trimarco of Altoona, Kathleen L. Gish of Liverpool RR 2, Margaret I. Fulton of New Bloomfield and Geraldine J. Stoffer of Middletown; a stepbrother, John Hess of Williamsport; 13 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Esther.
Services will be held at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19, in Church of the Living Water (St. James), Millerstown RR 2, with the Rev. John E. White officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, in Creveling Cemetery, Scott Twp., Columbia County.
Viewing will be from 7 to 8 p.m., Oct. 19, in the church.

Brent E. Harris, 39, of N. Fifth Street, Newport, died Monday, June 11, 2001 at home.
He was born March 20, 1962 in Harrisburg.
He was a member of Newport American Legion, Newport VFW, Newport Social Order of Owls and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra D. Youtzy; two sons, Ben D. and Cody, both of Newport; his parents, Ronald and Irene Harris of Newport; two brothers, Brad J. Harris of New Bloomfield and Ronald A. Harris of Newport; a sister, Kendra E. Sweger of Millerstown; and his maternal grandmother, Helen I. Myers of Newport.

Betty L. Hostetter, 75, of Linton Hill Road, Duncannon, died Friday, March 2, 2001 in HealthSouth Rehabilitation Center, Mechanicsburg.
She was born Jan. 28, 1926 in Harrisburg and was the adopted daughter of Elmer and Nora (Klinepeter) Wolf.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, Marysville Moose Lodge and Shermanata Grange 1796, Duncannon; and enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
She was the widow of Porter D. Hostetter.
Surviving are a son, Cleve H. of Marysville; a daughter, Annie P. Burkepile of Duncannon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 7 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. Paul Blank officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon.
