Howard F. "Howd" Himes, 92, of Poplar Run Road, Duncansville, formerly of Duncannon, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001 in Laurel Crest Rehabilitation and Special Care Center, Ebensburg.
He was born Dec. 18, 1908 in Puzzletown, Blair County, to the late Henry Matthew and Myrtle M. (Kunsman) Himes.
He retired after 53 years as a conductor from the former Pennsylvania Railroad; was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Newry, and St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Duncannon; and enjoyed hunting.
He was the widower of Dorothy G. Ritchey Himes.
Surviving are two sons, Clair and John, both of Duncannon; a brother, Allan of Puzzletown; five sisters, Myrtle Harker of Hollidaysburg RR, Phyllis McCoy of Duncansville, Kathleen Hughes of Puzzletown, Patricia McIntosh of Keyport, N.J., and Bernadette Aurandt of Mercer; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret J. Oakes; a son, Jerry F.; and a stepson, Harold Ritchey.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 4 in St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. William A. Rosensteel officiating and May 5 in St. Bernadette's Church with the Rev. Thomas Rozman officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.
Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, handled local arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Church or its school endowment fund, Newry 16665, or St. Bernadette's Church, 901 N. High St., Duncannon 17020.
Herbert Lee Houck, 62, of Ritner Highway, Carlisle, died Saturday, July 21, 2001 in Charlestown Casino, Ranson, W.Va.
He was a retired service station manager and attended West Perry High School.
Surviving are his wife, Lynne A. Gutshall Houck; two sons, Robert L. of Sempsonville, S.C., and Herbert L. of Loysville; two daughters, Deborah A. Shreve and Leslie K. Stum, both of Newville; his mother, Nancy J. Bowen of Hernando, Fla.; a brother, William R. of Newville; a half-sister, Linda L. Sweigert of Newville; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 26, at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle. Burial will be at the family's convenience.
Jann C. Himes, 45, of Windy Hill Road, New Bloomfield RR 1 died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001 at home.
She was born June 7, 1956.
She had worked for the former Dauphin Deposit Bank; was a graduate of Susquenita High School and attended Kutztown University; and enjoyed ceramics and other arts and crafts.
Surviving are a companion, Robert H. Rinehart, and her maternal grandmother, Leah E. Granger of Harrisburg.
Graveside services were held Oct. 22 in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon, with the Rev. Robert F. Sharman officiating.

Jane J. Huber, 76, of N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, died Monday, March 12, 2001 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle.
She was retired as a clerk typist for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Marysville.
She was the widow of Richard Huber.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan Jensen of Mechanicsburg and Gwen Zeird of Lititz; a son, Richard J. of Duncannon; a sister, Gwen Conway of Nesquehoning; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held March 15 in her church.
Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, handled arrangements.

Kathleen P. Hickey, 48, of Shermans Dale died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001 at home.
She attended St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Kingstown; and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, swimming, flying, quilting and crafts.
Surviving are a companion, Fred L. Crister; a son, Don A. of Shermans Dale; two stepsons, Kevin and Rick Crister, both of Dover; two brothers, Ronnie Jett and Jack James Jett III, both of Florida; two sisters, Jackie Jett of Aberdeen, Md., and Lynne Basu of Portland, Maine; and a stepgranddaughter.
A memorial service was held Oct. 12 in Stone & Murray Funeral Home, New Cumberland.

Marie A. Hill, 90, of Ridge Road, Creekview Farms, Shermans Dale, died Friday, March 23, 2001 of injuries received in an automobile accident in Oliver Twp.
She was born June 17, 1911 in Carroll Twp. to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Goudy) McDonald.
She was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania State Hospital, and a member of Young's United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Shermans Dale Fire Company.
She was the widow of Marlin J. Hill, who died in 1968.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan Patterson, with whom she lived; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 30, in her church with the Rev. N. Jefferson Brewster officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, in the church.

Madeline M. Baltosser Hamilton, 93, of N. Market Street, Duncannon, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
She was born Sept. 5, 1907 in Andersonburg to the late James E. and Mary Alice (Barkley) Baltosser.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Duncannon, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and bingo.
She was the widow of James H. Hamilton.
Surviving are a son, William J., and a daughter, P. Jane Hammer, both of Duncannon; six granddaughters; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Jan. 7 in Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon, with the Rev. David Willard officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Duncannon.

Oden C. Hetrick, 78, of Duncannon died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at Lebanon V.A. Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1922 in Martinsburg to the late Oden C. Sr. and Sylvia (Zarker) Hetrick.
He was an evangelist, musician and singer whose family traveled with him in sacred gospel music ministry as the Singing Hetrick Family; a printer and writer; a Sunday school bus driver and teacher; an Army veteran of World War II; and a graduate of Nyack Missionary Training Institute, with a Th.B. degree.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Beck Hetrick; a son, David L. of Duncannon; four daughters, Lois, Joy, Gladys and Faith, all of Duncannon; a brother, Lewis of Summerdale; and two sisters, Margie Frank of Milford, N.H., and Sylvia Cheney of Duncannon.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William, and a sister, Frances Askins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Feb. 10, in Perry Alliance Church, Shermans Dale, with the Revs. Frank Kipe and John Rauch officiating. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family.

Ruth Anna Hower, 88, of Newport RR 2 died Monday, April 23, 2001 in Perry Village Nursing Home, New Bloomfield.
She was born Nov. 2, 1912 in Newport to the late William A. and Anna M. (Flickinger) Woodward.
She retired from Harrisburg State Hospital; had worked at the former Newport Dress Factory and Newport Laundry; was a member of Newport Church of Christ; a life member of the Newport Fire Company Auxiliary; attended the former Port Royal High School; and enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and vegetable and flower gardening.
She was the widow of Blaine A. Hower.
Surviving are two sons, William of Mechanicsburg and Earl of New Freedom; two daughters, Doris Brookhart of Largo, Fla., and Patricia Kluck of Biglerville; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alton Hower.
Memorial services were held May 1 in Myers Funeral Home, Newport, with pastor Ed Dyche officiating. Burial was in Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
