He was born June 12, 1922, in Harrisburg. The only son of Homer and Violet Yochum. Survived by two sons, Harry A. Yochum, Akron, PA and William D. Yochum, Jr. of New Cumberland, PA; two stepdaughters, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He graduated from William Penn High School in 1940. Chaplain in the DeMolay 1938. Graduated Aircraft Engine School. Worked at Glenn L. Martin in Baltimore as Final Assembly Inspector. Gave up deferment and joined the Army. Went to Fort Bennings, GA, the Infantry School. Joined the 95th Division under Gen. Patton, Third Army, and assisted in taking Metz. Then joined Gen. Simpson's 9th Army where they liberated several concentration camps. He was a member of the US Army Reserves for 27 years and retired in 1980 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, many medals and the Purple Heart.
He graduated from Penn State University in 1950 with a degree in architecture. Worked for three architectural firms. Worked for US Steel Homes as architectural designer. Worked for General State Authority and then PA Dept. of Welfare for a total of 30 years. Retired in 1982 as Chief Architect and Assistant Bureau director. Designed many homes, a hospital, school and offices.
Memberships are many and awards too many to name. The ones that stand out are: State President and Chapter President for Reserve Officers Assoc.; Vice President, NIOWW; TROA; NAVS; The Library of Congress; Alzheimer's Assoc.; Disabled American Veterans; Assoc. of Retired State Employees; PA Sheriff's Assoc.; Fraternal Order of Police; Top Cops Assoc; National Assoc. of Chief of Police; NRA; DAV Dept. award for outstanding service; ROA plaque for outstanding leadership; state advisor on US Congressional Advisory Board. Recently received award for voting in every election for 50 years. He was in "Who's Who in the East" 1979-1980 and 1981-1982. His hobbies were stamp collecting and gardening.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, New Cumberland, next to the airport. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Esther L. Yocum
Born May 16, 1930, in Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late W. Henry and Annie M. (Yocum) Goshorn. Her husband, Warren M. Yocum, whom she married March 2, 1957, survives.
Also surviving are: two sons, Steven W. and wife Pamela Yocum, Orbisonia, and Drew A. and wife Lori Yocum, Blairs Mills; a daughter, Trudy J. and husband Buddie Hockenberry, Blairs Mills; two sisters, Vera Rosenberry, Willow Hill, and Betty Okeson, Enola; and six grandchildren.
She worked 49 years for the former Goshorn Restaurant, Blairs Mills.
She was a member of Nossville United Methodist Church, Nossville.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run with Rev. Virginia Eminhizer officiating. Interment will be in Nossville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Barbara M. Yoder
Born April 18, 1939, in Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Jonas A. and Rhoda (Yoder) Hostetler. Her husband, John B. Yoder, survives.
She was a member of the Old Order Amish.
Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the John B. Yoder residence, 235 Running Stream Lane, Reedsville. Interment will be in Green Lane Cemetery, Brown Township.

Blanche E. Yoder
Born Jan. 7, 1906, in Granville Twp., she was a daughter of the late John R. and Mattie (Harshbarger) Kauffman. Her husband, Jesse W. Surviving are: four children, Mrs. Albert Jane Richwine, Harrisburg, Faye L. Yoder, Belleville, Marvin J. Yoder, Huntingdon, and Doris A. Yoder, Chambersburg; a sister, Mrs. Grace Miller, McVeytown; a brother, Donald E. Kauffman, Sr., Lewistown; and four grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, and a former member of Belleville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, and piecing quilts.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with Rev. Lois Martin and Rev. Ivan E. Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville.

J. Otis Yoder
Dr. Yoder, the youngest of seven children, was dedicated to the Lord in childhood by his parents, Levi and Mary (Hershberger) Yoder, in their homestead cottage in Colorado. He grew up in the Mennonite Church community at Midland, MI, where he was ordained to the ministry 65 years ago this month and served in leadership roles in the church in several states.
After his ordination, he pursued Bible training and earned a doctorate in theology and N.T. language. He was on the faculty at Eastern Mennonite College and Seminary for 21 years.
During his entire lifetime, he faithfully taught and preached the Word of God in many churches and schools across our nation and in foreign lands.
Yoder heard the voice of the Lord calling him to be a "Voice." In response he founded the "Heralds of Hope, Inc.", to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. This "Hope" ministry, in 35 years, reaches around the world and is translated into six major languages. More than 50,000 Bibles and millions of pieces of literature have taken the message of "Hope" into every part of the world.
J. Otis Yoder was married to Isabelle King on June 23, 1939, in West Liberty, OH. They have: two children, John O. Yoder and wife, Arlene, and Constance Heatwole; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, all who survive, along with a sister, Mrs. Elsa Argobast and husband of Harrisonburg, VA.
Relatives and friends may meet the family 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Allensville Mennonite Church, Allensville.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, Chambersburg, with the family meeting relatives and friends prior to the service from 9:30-11 a.m.
John O. Yoder will lead the worship service in which several other clergymen will participate. The burial, with a graveside service, will be held at Harrisonburg, VA, in the Lindale Mennonite Church Cemetery at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Dr. Yoder has given his private library to a Bible Institute. His "Hope" ministry is now carried on by a nephew, J. Mark Horst, and a dedicated Board and Staff.

Mae Yoder
Born Aug. 26, 1918, in Delaware Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Amos B. and Mary K. (Stover) Lauver. Her husband, Jesse M. Yoder, whom she married Sept. 9, 1952, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died July 22, 1981.
Surviving are: a son, Ron Yoder and wife Joan, Knoxville, TN; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Michael.
She was the last of her immediate family.
She was a past member of Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills and currently a member of Living Water Christian Fellowship, Mifflin.
In earlier life, she was employed by the East Salem Shirt Factory, East Salem. She retired from Selinsgrove Center, Selinsgrove in 1981.
Her interests were sewing and singing.
Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Oakland Mills, with Pastor Gary L. Krabill officiating. Interment will be in Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Oakland Mills.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time Tuesday at the church, however her casket will be closed.

Paul T. Yoder
Born July 29, 1920, in Mill Creek RD, he was a son of the late I. Newton and Edith (Sommers) Yoder. His wife, Cora M. Yoder, whom he married Sept. 2, 1944, survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Sue) Peachey, Mrs. Ray (Jane) Yoder and Mrs. Wayne (Sandra) Yoder, all of Belleville; two brothers and a sister, Roy N. Yoder, Belleville, Mrs. Earl (Rena) Auker, Oakland Mills, and Robert Yoder, Grand Junction, CO; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was a dairy farmer, retiring in 1973, then worked 20 years at Allensville Planning Mill, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Allensville Mennonite Church and Golden Age Sunday School class, he was Director of Big Valley Men's Chorus for 30 years, he did mission work at Otelia Mennonite Church for 23 years, and was involved in various other church activities. He was a Volunteer for nine years with Meals on Wheels, and he was a graduate of Allensville High School.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Allensville Mennonite Church, Allensville, with Revs. Eli Beachy, Gerald Peachey and Paul Bender officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday at Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Saturday at the church.

Samuel J. Yoder
His funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Yoder home. Interment will be in the Old Order Amish Cemetery, Van Wert.

Gage Scott Yohn
Also surviving are parental grandparents, Clayton and Barbara Yohn; and maternal grandparents, Pam and Guy Moscato and Jim and Jen McCarter.
Funeral services will be private with Aaron Amspacker officiating. Interment will be in Maitland Brethren Cemetery.

Alice R. Yorks
Born Sept. 14, 1914, in Walker Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret (Brayer) Willoughby. Her husband, C. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Karl R. Herman officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.

James Richard Young
Born Oct. 11, 1937, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Margaret (Yetter) Young. His wife, Brenda (Prye) Young, whom he married July 19, 1967, survives.
Also surviving are: seven children, Mrs. Brian (Retha) Mowery, Granville, James R. Young, II, Ronald J. Young, and Steven E. Young, all of Lewistown, Stacy Sanner Knepp, Reedsville, Christine L. Young, Maitland, and Amber N. Young, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Keith (Retha) Bibson, New York, Delores Hartley, Lewistown, and Mrs. James (Jackie) Herto, Granville; and 16 grandchildren.

He was an Industrial Engineer, last employed by Masland Industries.

He was an avid Penn State fan, a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Rifle Association, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a locksmith by trade.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lind Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Douglas Sabin officiating. There will be no viewing.
Military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg and VFW Post #6168, Shippensburg.
