Born Sept. 15, 1902 in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Mertie (McCartney) Kline. Her husband, Paul V. She is survived by: son Raymond “Sam” Thomas Leach of Merrills Inlet, S.C.; sister E. Ruth Pursel of Kish Apartments, Lewistown; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William F. Ayers Sr.
PETERSBURG - William F. He was born June 22, 1919, in Altoona, to the late Harry T. and Ruth (Irvin) Ayers. He was preceded in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death by his wife, Sarah M. (Wilson) Ayers on Jan. 24, 1980.
Surviving are children: William E. “Bill” Ayers and wife Wanda of Petersburg, Bonnie R. Rohrbaugh and husband Steve of Belleville, and Bruce E. Ayers of Lewistown; grandchildren: William F. “Bill” Ayers II and Crystal Yohn; great-grandchildren: Brady, Olivia, Noah, Trevor and Jordan; brothers: James and Jacob Ayers both of Petersburg; and a friend: Donna Knode. He retired in June 1981 from New Holland with 28 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during WW II. He was a private first class in the 797th Port Company, 517th Port Battalion. He was a life-member of VFW Post 5935, Belleville and was a member of Manor Hill Methodist Church.
His funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at Baggus Funeral Home in Belleville, with the Rev. Nelson R. Roth and William “Bill” Ayers officiating. A viewing will be from 7-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home, and 12 p.m., until time of service. Burial will be in the Manor Hill Church Cemetery, Manor Hill.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shelter Service, Inc. of Lewistown, 13 Depot Street, Lewistown, PA 17044. Arrangements are being handled by Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.

G. Lloyd Heckman

MIFFLINTOWN - G. Lloyd Heckman, 83, of HC 63 Mifflintown Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died at 3:01 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004 at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1921 in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late G. Lloyd and Ena Mae (Dimm) Heckman Sr. His wife of 56 years, Janet (Roush) Heckman, whom he married on April 10, 1948, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Thomas Heckman of Huntingdon; one daughter, Judith (Heckman) Proch and husband Frederick of New Castle; three grandchildren, Lara M. Leo, Joshua M. Proch, Jill R. Proch; and two great-grandchildren, Courtney Leo and Alexandra Leo.
He was the last of his immediate family having been preceded in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death by two brothers, Albert Heckman and Glenn Heckman; and one sister, Elizabeth Heckman, in infancy.
He started his employment with Eastern States, Mifflin and retired from Agway, Inc., Mifflin in 1981.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in World War II.
He was a member of the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, McAlisterville and a former member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Thompsontown. He also was a member of the Mifflintown Lions Club, the Lost Creek Golf Club, Oakland Mills, an associate member of the Juniata County Chapter of the Association of School Retirees, and he had played for and managed several Mifflintown teams for many years in the Perry-Juniata Twilight Baseball League.
He was an avid Phillies fan, who also enjoyed golf, bowling and gardening.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Lost Creek Presbyterian Church, West Main Street, McAlisterville, with the Rev. Graham C. Fowler officiating. Interment will be in Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville.
There will be no viewing, though the family will receive friends from noon until time of services on Monday at the church.
The McAlisterville Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 16 Westfall St., Mcalisterville, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Ruth E. Grove

Ronald L. Shimp Sr.

He is survived by: children, Ronald L. Shimp Jr. of Georgia and Shawn Shimp of Lewistown; sister Sharon M. (Shimp) Yetter of Lewistown; niece Tina Yetter; nephews Donnie and Mark Yetter; and two grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam vet. He retired on disability.
He was a member of the City Hook and Ladder Fire Co. and VFW Post 7011.
His funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Barr Funeral Home Inc., 120 Logan St., Lewistown with Brad Williams officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 7011. A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Vesta Mae Yoder

Byler and husband Jefferson of Petersburg, Pa., Orpha Zook and husband Ivan E. of Belleville, Barbara Bossinger and husband Donald of Lewistown; and granddaughter Laurie Stone and husband Michael of Conroe, Texas.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham with the Revs. Larry K. Lutz and Michael Mullins officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ralph S. Shields

Born Oct. 24, 1912 in Perry County, he was a son of the Late Samuel and Stella (Kistler) Shields. His wife, Elizabeth (Arnold) Shields, whom he married June 1, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are: children, R. Edward Shields and wife Laura of McClure, Mrs. George (Rosalie) Fisher of Elizabethtown; brother Eugene Shields of Loysville; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He graduated from Millersville College with a bachelor’s degree in education and received his master’s degree from Penn State. He taught elementary education in the Mifflin County School District for 35 years, retiring in 1972. He served as principal at Logan Street and Buchanan schools. He also taught at the Christian and Missionary Alliance School, Juniata Terrace for three years and operated a beef farm for 35 years.
He was a member of Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, with the Revs. Jerry Wise and George Mark officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park at a later date.
The family requests memorials be made to Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church Mission Fund, 3195 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Herbert H. Keiser, Sr.

Born July 28, 1928 in McVeytown, he was the son of the late Harry Thomas and Laura Grace (Hammaker) Keiser. His wife, Margaret A. (Waite) Keiser of P.O. Box 1, Beavertown, PA 17813, whom he married on June 1, 1948, survives.
Also surviving are children Herbert H. Keiser, Jr., and wife Roberta, Port Royal, Kenneth Keiser and wife Donna and Mrs. John (Catherine) Sheesley, both of Beavertown, Ronald Keiser and wife Lou, Middleburg, Mrs. Daniel (Peggy) Mattern, Paxtonville, Benjamin Keiser and wife Cathy, Selinsgrove and Mrs. Gregg (Becki) Norman, Etters; siblings Helen I. Varner, Ohesson Manor, Lewistown and Ruth Bingaman and Mrs. Carl (Mary Jane) Peachey, both of McVeytown; 14 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.
Early in life he worked at American Viscose and was a self-employed farmer, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of McVeytown United Methodist Church, Lewistown Moose Lodge #143 and McClure American Legion.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. Edward DeGand officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
