Mark E. French
McVEYTOWN - Mark E. French, 90, of 183 French’s Lane, McVeytown, was serenaded by angels as he entered eternity with Jesus at 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. His wife of 68 years, Mary G. He was born in Bratton Township, Sept. 17, 1914, the son of William and Ruth (Kauffman) French.
Surviving are four children and their spouses: daughter Faith and Bob Yoder of Grand Junction, Colo., son Sheldon and Thelma French of Belleville, son Randy and Sandy French of McVeytown and daughter Andrea and Theil Kauffman of McVeytown. An infant son, Edward Devon, preceded him in death.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Lynn, Jay, Sonya, Brad, Michelle, Angie, Andre, Ryan, Larry and Charity; and six great-grandchildren: Kevin, Garrett, Ross, Lauren, Mark and Andrew. He was the oldest of eleven children and was also preceded in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death by brothers: Paul, Sam, Andy, Charlie and sister Annie Smith. Mark was a dairy farmer for many years. Later he was employed in the maintenance department of the Mifflin County School District, but he continued farming and raising cattle. During the past few years he was lovingly cared for by his wife and enjoyed the visits of many friends and relatives. He was the oldest member of the Mattawana Mennonite Church.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at the Mattawana Mennonite Church with Pastor M. Leon Yoder and nephew Keith Yoder officiating. Friends may call from 1 p.m., until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana. A time of fellowship will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valley View Retirement Center, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004.

Clara P. (Casner) Barth
McVeytown - Clara P. (Casner) Barth, 75, of 7689 U.S. Highway 522 South, McVeytown, went peacefully to be with her husband and the Lord at 12:53 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born Sept. 9, 1929, in McVeytown, she was a daughter of the late Cloyd and Ethel (McMurtrie) Casner. Her husband, Herman E. Barth, preceded her in Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">death Jan. 3, 2003. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Feb. 16, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Timothy P. (Kristie P.) Morrison, 7679 U.S. Highway 522 South, McVeytown; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Margretta) Crosson and a brother, Glenn E. Casner, both of McVeytown.

She was a graduate of McVeytown Oliver High School Class of 1948.
She was a secretary at United Steelworkers of America Local 1940 for 43 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, the Lewistown Chapter 283 Order of the Eastern Star, and White Shrine. She enjoyed cooking, baking and she loved family and friends.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan.3, 2005, at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, Ferguson Valley Rd., McVeytown, with Rev. Jerry L. Miller officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Phyllis Jean (Mahady) Esh
BELLEVILLE - Phyllis Jean (Mahady) Esh, 75, of 59 Brookfarm Drive, Belleville, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">died at 12:24 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born May 3, 1929, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late John Carl and Helen (Barger) Mahady, and stepmother Annie Ulsh Mahady. Her husband, Guy E. Esh, preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons: Robert “Rick” Esh and wife Sarah, of Lewistown, and Michael Esh and wife Sharon, of Reedsville; and friend, Earl “Skip” Powley, of Mifflintown; siblings: Henrietta Beaver, of Mifflintown, Tom Mahady and wife Gladys, of Belleville, Paul Mahady and wife Dorothy, of Lewistown, Carl “Buck” Mahady and wife Janice, of Newport News, VA.; stepbrother Wilbur “Bill” Ulsh, Belleville and stepsister Winifred Chaffee, of State College; grandchildren: Jared Esh and wife Jody, Nathan Esh, Rebecca Esh, Olivia Esh, Matthew Gers and wife Lisa, and Daria Fisher; great-grandchildren: Tyler Snook, Allysa Esh, Wyatt Esh, Garrett Gers and Alexis Gers.

Phyllis was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville. She belonged to the Sewing Circle of the church. In her early life she sold Avon to many in the Belleville and Yeagertown area. She was a past member of the “Rebecca’s,” and volunteered at Lewistown Hospital and Valley View Haven. She enjoyed needle work, swimming at the YMCA, participating in the Senior Games, and Relay for Life. She always loved to help family, friends and others. She enjoyed traveling, especially bus trips.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville, with the Rev. Carl Miller and Pastor Don Peters officiating. Interment will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9, Sunday, at Baggus Funeral Home in Belleville. Clyde ‘Bill’ Weikle

CAMP HILL - Clyde “Bill” Weikle, 59, of Camp Hill, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch">passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in his home.
He was a retired truck driver from Conestoga Tile and a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
Bill was a member of the Mechanicsburg Legion Post 109, the Lower Allen VFW 7530, and the West Shore Elks.
He loved gardening, NASCAR, the Philadelphia Eagles, sitting on the back porch next to his fire, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda C. (Waite) Weikle; four children: Clyde Jr. and wife Kerri, of Clarksville, Tenn., Wendy Preun and husband, Mark, of Dillsburg, Jerry Moyer and wife, Mischelle, of Shiremanstown, and Todd Weikle and wife, Karen, of New Cumberland; a brother: Kenneth Weikle, of Lewistown; and his greatest love, six grandchildren: Alishia and Nicholas Weikle and their mother, Margaret Weikle, all of West Senenca Falls, N.Y., Dora Kelly, of Clarksville, Tenn., Tyler Preun, of Dillsburg, Bailey and Owen Moyer, of Shiremanstown.
Services will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at 1 p.m., in the Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St., Camp Hill. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be private.

Wanda L. Knouse

Edward (Paula) Reed, Reedsville, Scott K. Knouse Sr., Reedsville, and Richard N. Knouse, Lewistown; a sister: Jackie Zimmerman, Lewistown; 16 step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

Sara (McCormick) Ross

She was the widow of Bernard W. Ross.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:30 -2 P.m., Monday, at the funeral home.

Mark C. ‘Nathan’ Smith Jr.

Born July 8, 1978, he was the son of Glenda B. (Keeney) Smith of 10 Greenfield Dr., Reedsville.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by: daughter Lexi Jayde Smith of Mifflintown, siblings, Haila Keeney and Jerid N. Leach, both of Lewistown; and maternal grandmother Shirley B. (Phillips) Keeney of Reedsville.
His memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville with Jeffrey Buch officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday, at the funeral home.

Jillian Christine Swartz

MIFFLINTOWN - Jillian Christine Swartz, 13, of 312 Orange St., Mifflintown, entered into heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at Hershey Medical Center, with her parents at her bedside.
Born March 13, 1991, in Lewistown, she was the second daughter in a family of eight girls and is survived by her loving parents, Joel and Jill Swartz, and her sisters, Jessica, Joanna, Janelle, Julianne, Josephine, Janessa and Jamie, all at home.
Also surviving are: grandparents, Albert and June Gray of Mifflintown RR2, Joyce Swartz of Mifflintown and Karen Swartz of Richfield; her great-grandfather, Robert Gray of Townsend Inlet, N.J.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jillian was in eighth grade at the Tuscarora Junior High School, Mifflintown. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and youth group. She was a member of the Port Royal girls soccer team, several traveling soccer teams, the Port Royal girls softball team, the Juniata Jaguars softball team, and the Junior High basketball team. She was a student of the Margaret McCann School of Dance. Jillian was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed deep sea fishing with her grandfather and cousins. Time with her family and friends was very important to her and she loved her sisters and cousins and was especially close to her cousin, Beth Dressler.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, Mifflintown with Pastor Albert Gray officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be a viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Beatrice L. ‘Beaty’ Fettig

Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 10, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Louise L. Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. There will be no evening viewing.

Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the First United Methodist Church, Third and Dorcas streets, Lewistown, with Rev. Richard Noll officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, and from 10 a.m. Friday until time of service at the church.

Joshua Levi King
