Born January 30, 1941 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Anthony & the late Josephine (Grove) Marsartis.

Catherine was last employed at the Cranberry Twp. Elks. She enjoyed painting & auto racing.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Kessler, Jr. whom she married Feb. 12, 1991; 2 sons, David Osselborn of Fombell, and Russell Osselborn & his wife Brenda of Cranberry Twp., a step-son, William J. Kessler III of Northeast, PA; a step-daughter, Donna Walters & her husband Rob of Butler. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Russell & David; a sister, Joanne, and 7 grandchildren.

Friends will be received 7-9 PM Monday & 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home of Cranberry Twp., 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp.

Funeral services 11 AM Wednesday, April 14th at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Mars Cemetery, Adams Twp.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pgh., PA 15205.

Alice L. Pflaum

Alice L. Pflaum, age 85, of Cranberry Twp. on Thursday, April 8, 2004.

Ms. Pflaum obtained her Bachelor of Science & Master of Science degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing & served as a practicing Registered Nurse until her retirement. She was a veteran of WW II, serving as an Army evacuation nurse, primarily in the South Pacific. She was a lifelong friend of her colleague, the late Virginia Braley, & her family, epecially Robert Braley who was like a nephew to her. Ms. Pflaum became a resident of Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community in 1988.

She is survived by her nephew, Michael Pflaum of San Diego, CA, her nieces, Rita Malone of Escondido, CA & Shirley Harrington of Ocean Spring, MS.

No Visitations

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday, April 22, 2004 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sherwood Oaks Memorial Fund or Scholarship Fund, 100 Norman Dr., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066.

Charlotte Fisher McLain

Charlotte Fisher McLain, age 93, of Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Twp. where she had been an active resident since 1983, formerly of Edgewood, on Tuesday, April 6, 2004,

Mrs. McLain was a long-time faithful member of the 6th Presbyterian Church in Squirrel Hill. She was a member and President (1976) of the Speech Communication Assn. of PA and was a graduate of the Univ. of Pgh. with a Master’s Degree in Education.

Beloved wife of the late Dr. Paul L. McLain; mother of Helen McLain Jackson of Mechanicsburg and Dr. Paul L. McLain of Davenport, WA; grandmother of Barbara McLain Snow & Bruce Larimer McLain.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 10th at the Sherwood Oaks Auditorium, 100 Norman Dr., Cranberry Twp.

Blanche A. Kautzman

She is survived by 2 sons, Richard H. Kautzman of Warren, OH & Daniel Kautzman of South Carolina; 2 daughters, Blanche M. Kautzman of Cranberry Twp. & Lenora Johnson of N. Jackson, OH; 2 brothers, Frank Kavalukas of McKees Rocks & Stanley Kavalukas of Imperial. Also survived by 8 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Mary E. Deemer

Mrs. Deemer was a life-long member of Providence Baptist Church, Ellwood City where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Deaconess. She was a graduate of Slippery Rock State Teachers College and retired in 1980 from Riverside School District after 29 years of teaching. She also was a member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Assn.

She is survived by a daughter, Sally J. Happel of Lakewood, CO; 2 sons, Larry C. Deemer of Prosperity, PA & Jerry C. Deemer of Harrisburg. Also survived by 8 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair W. Deemer in 1995, 3 brothers & 3 sisters.

Friends will be received 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday & 10 -11AM Tuesday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 219 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople.

Funeral services 11 AM Tuesday, April 6th at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.

Robert M. Garis

Born Dec. 25, 1926 in Zelienople, the son of the late Robert A. & Ida L. (Eckhart) Garis.

Mr. Garis graduated from Westminster College & retired from Johns Manville. He was a member of St. Paul´s Lutheran Church in Zelienople & American Legion Post 474 of Zelienople. He was an avid golfer.

He is survived by a niece & a nephew. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister.

Private Graveside Services were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Zelienople, with the Rev. William Brewer, his church pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Mr. Garis may be made to a charity of the donor´s choice.

Richard E. Matson

Born March 4, 1926 in Independence, MO, the son of the late Thomas & Myrtle (Donahue) Matson.

Mr. Matson retired in 1990 from Schoolcraft College, Livonia, Michigan where he had been a Professor of Computer Programing and Data Processing. He was a WW II U. S. Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Matson whom he married June 18, 1976; 2 sons, Kyle Matson of Austin, TX & Brett Matson of Cranberry Twp.

Friends will be received 7-9 PM Monday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., of Cranberry Twp., 130 Wisconsin Ave.

A Blessing Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, April 27th at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Alpena, Michigan.

Helen M. Griest

Born January 17, 1912 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William August & Elizabeth (Hornberger) Gunzenhauser.

Mrs. Griest was a member of English Lutheran Church, Zelienople.

She is survived by 2 sons, Stewart L. Griest Jr. of Zelienople & Lawrence W. Griest of Clearfield, PA; a daughter, Jane H. Rice of West Grove, PA. Also survived by 6 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart L. Griest, Sr., a brother & 5 sisters.

There will be no visitations. Funeral services were private.

Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

Marion D. Young

Born, Sept. 29, 1906 in Traer, Iowa she was the daughter of the late John William & Jennie (Dougan) Young. Miss Young was a 1928 graduate of Monmouth College in Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and received her Master's Degree from the Univ. of Iowa in 1942. She retired from Hornes Department Store in Pittsburgh where she worked in the Personnel Dept. where she was responsible for opening Branch stores.

She is survived by a niece, Dorothy Voetberg of Galena, IL, two great nieces, Alison R. Flogel and Laura E. Merritt, and a great nephew, Kent A. Voetberg.

Services will be held at 1:30PM Friday, May 1, 2004 in the chapel of the Overton Family Funeral Home in Traer, IA with Rev. Rick Vesely, pastor of Traer U. P. Church, officiating.

George "Lou" Adame

Born December 28, 1930 in Laredo, TX, he was the son of the late Guadalupe & Aurora (Veytia) Adame.

Mr. Adame was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople where he sang in the choir. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran who served during the Korean War & he was also a member of the Zelienople American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie Adame whom he married Aug. 18, 1950; 7 children, Anthony J. Adame of Jefferson, OH, W. Bob Adame of San Diego, CA, Ronnie E. Adame of Port Orchard, WA, Cathy L. Farrell of Anacortes, WA, Cynthia A. Chrobak of Fombell, Christina M. Wiederkehr of San Diego, CA, John A. Adame of Medina, OH; brother Joe W. Adame of Cleveland, OH, Sylvia Adame of Corpus Christi, TX, Yolanda Rodrieguez of Laredo, TX, & Delores Fitzgerald of New York, NY. Also survived by 7 grandchildren.

A Mass of christian burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, May 1st at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, 2 West Beaver St., Zelienople.

Leona Ann Fresh

Born January 14, 1947 in Clarion, PA, she was the daughter of Wanda (McCrackin) Garris Carrol & the late George Garris.

Mrs. Fresh enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, & crafts and was an avid Elvis fan.

In addition to her mother who resides in Mercer she is survived by 3 daughters; Joyce A. Ridenour of Beaver, PA, Dawn A. Cramer of Saxonburg, PA, Stephanie L. Climo of Valencia, PA; a son, James A. Fresh of Butler, PA; 2 brothers, William & George Garris, both of Clarion, PA and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Garris & her stepfather Don Carrol.

Friends will be received 3-4 PM Wednesday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 219 E. Grandview Avenue, Zelienople where funeral services will follow at 4 PM with the Rev. Dave West, Pastor of Christ Outreach Church, Butler, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mars Cemetery, Adams Twp.

Catherine M. Born August 26, 1913 in Adrian, PA, she was the daughter of the late Miller & Catherine (Adams) Depp.

Mrs. Tait was a former member of the First U. M. Church, Punxsutawney & Harmony-Zelienople U. M. Church, Zelienople. She was a member of the Zelienople American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Tanglewood Senior Citizens Center, Lyndora and was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Butler.

She is survived by a son, Robert J. Tait of Portersville; a daughter, Cathy M. Cavelo of Sewickley; a sister, June Hubbard of FL; 3 brothers, Walter Depp of Altoona, Robert Depp of FL, James Depp of Punxsutawney. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert E. Cole whom she married Aug. 1, 1941; 4 daughters; Marlene Knopp of Indianapolis, IN, Beverly Cole and Corinne Cole, both of Dallas, TX and Kimberly Bates of British Columbia, Canada; 3 grandchildren: Jadon Bates, Cheryl Bates & Ami Zamora.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, May 18th at the funeral home, with the Rev. Terry L. Lutz, Pastor of N. Hills Christian Church and Rev. Fred E. Agee, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Mountain Home, Arkansas, officiating.

Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery, Rostraver Twp.
