Waynesburg businessman was active in community
Paul Francis Puglia, 82, of West Wayne Street, Waynesburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, March 30, 2002, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 5, 1919, in Brownsville, a son of Ilario (Larry) and Rosanna Lapenta Puglia.
Mr. Puglia's family moved to Waynesburg when he was four years old. He was a 1937 graduate of Waynesburg High School and a 1941 graduate of University of Notre Dame.
He enlisted in the Army Air Forces in 1941 and served until the end of World War II in 1945, rising to the rank of captain. He served in the 409th Bomber Group, which conducted operations against German targets from bases in England and later in France.
After the war, Mr. Puglia became active as a manager and later an owner of the family theater business, which included Wayne Theater and Opera House. In 1952, he purchased a Buick dealership in Waynesburg and it operated as Puglia Buick until 1980. A few years later he sold the theater business and retired. In the last few years, he assisted his wife operating her antiques business, Elaine's Window.
Mr. Puglia was active in the community. He served as president of Waynesburg Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the board of directors of Eva K. Bowlby Public Library. He was also a member of Elks Lodge 757, Waynesburg, and the local automobile dealership association. He actively supported sports activities, including serving as coach of a Little League baseball team. Mr. Puglia supported Waynesburg College and Greene County Memorial Hospital, while he was active in business.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Waynesburg, and served on the church council. He was active in the church from his early years as an altar boy and later served as a lector.
On June 26, 1954, he married
Elaine Osso, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Paul Puglia of Paris, France, Larry Puglia of Baltimore, Md., and Joseph Puglia of Montgomery, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Teresa Puglia and Alma Puglia Nugent.

Mrs. Troy was a homemaker.
She was a member of Church of Christ, Washington.
Surviving are two sons, Louis Mitchell of Washington and Charles Mitchell of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Marian E. Piatt of Washington; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Valusiak was a coal miner for Bethlehem Mines, Marianna, for 38 years before his retirement in 1978.
He enjoyed gardening and loved to cut grass and be outdoors.
Mr. Valusiak was a member of St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, Fredericktown.
On June 11, 1952, he married
Mary Netza Rudai, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Marlene Valusiak Berardinelli of Bentleyville; a stepson, Alfred Steven Rudai of Nampa, Idaho; six grandchildren, Gina Marie Berardinelli Banai, Jennifer Anne Berardinelli, Michele Marie and Marc Morgan Allen and Sheri Ann and Tony Rudai; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Louise Allen; and a brother, Peter Valusiak of Bentleyville.
Deceased is a stepdaughter, Mary Louise Rudai Allen.

Mr. Chappel was a chemist for Vitro Chemical Plant, Canonsburg, and also had worked in the semiconductor division of Westinghouse in Youngwood before retiring in 1978.
He was formerly a member of Moose Lodge, Lithuanian Club and Sons of Italy.
Mr. Chappel enjoyed fishing and farming.

David William Clark

Mr. Clark was Protestant.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as an airplane mechanic in Australia and the Philippines.
Mr. Clark was the oldest member of James T. Maxon American Legion Post 990 of Mt. Morris and was a member of Mt. Morris Senior Citizens.
He worked 38 years for Humphrey No. 7 coal mine until retiring in 1980. He belonged to United Mine Workers of America Local 1058.
On December 25, 1940, Mr. Clark married
Edna Rush, who survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Virginia Richards of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Nellie Warnick, Rosemarie Richards and Loutricia Clark; and two brothers, Donald and Edward Clark.
