Born Dec. 29, 1912, in Buffalo Mills, he was a son of the late Harry and Orie (Shoemaker) Stouffer. He also was preceded in death by one brother; four sisters; and two nephews.
Mr. Stouffer is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ona Holler (Casteel) Stouffer, whom he married
on March 13, 1976; three stepsons, Glenden Casteel and wife Delores "Dee," Manns Choice and Albuquerque, N.M., Terry Casteel and wife Connie, Irwin, and Lynn Casteel and wife Diana, Buffalo, N.Y.; one brother, Walter Adams, Atlanta; one aunt, Olive Elder; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; seven nieces; two nephews; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Stouffer drove several million miles during his career as a driver for Greyhound Bus. He was a member of Buffalo Mills Methodist Church, the Danville Moose Lodge, the Bard Hollow Sportsman Club, and Amalgamated Union of Greyhound Drivers.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Monday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., and at Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Sept. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be conducted at the church on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Dry Ridge Cemetery.
DONALD W. RUSH
Born June 14, 1914, in New Alexandria, he was the son of the late C. Vernon and Ruth Duncan Rush.
Mr. Rush was a member of the Free Gospel Church of Export. He was a graduate of Westminster College, and did post-graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a former teacher, and owned and operated a poultry farm. He was an elder and superintendent of the Sunday School at the Old Community Presbyterian Church. He grew up working with his parents in the original Reshwood Park in New Alexandria. He belonged to the New Alex Men's Prayer Breakfast, Board of Directors of the Union Mission in Latrobe, and the Tree of Life Assembly of God Church in Latrobe.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy T. Rush, in 1989.
He is survived by a daughter, Margaret Rush Rice, of Cumberland, Md.; a son, Vernon W. Rush, of Ligonier; and a grandson, Erik Rice.
Friends will be received at the P. David Newhouse Funeral Home, New Alexandria, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Roles officiating.
Interment will follow in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
CLARA B. RECKLEY
Born Dec. 1, 1903, in Hyndman, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Emma Pearl (Holler) Miller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Reckley.
Mrs. Reckley was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reckley was formerly employed by Kelly Springfield and the Celanese Corporation, Cumberland. For a number of years, she operated a tavern in Homewood Addition.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Sunday, Oct. 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted there on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Leroy Logsdon officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
MADELINE E. RECKNER
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Showalter and husband Michael, Salisbury; a granddaughter, Scottie Showalter and fiancee, Dan Imhoff; a sister, Katie Durst, Walla Walla, Wash.; a brother, Donald Durst, Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reckner was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the LCW. She retired from American ITP and the ILGWU, having worked in several local garment factories. During World War II, she worked at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. to produce ammunition for American soldiers. She was a charter member of the Salisbury American Legion Auxiliary, and a former member of several bowling leagues. She was an avid supporter of youth athletics in both Salisbury and Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church, Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or Somerset Hospital ``In Touch'' Hospice.
EVA. M. RICE
Mrs. Rice was a member of Mt. Top Holiness Church.
Surviving are six sons, Glenn T. Rice and wife Leona, Cumberland; Carl W. Rice and wife Joyce Osgood, IN; Kenneth C. Rice, Beans Cove, Pa.; Willis R. Rice and wife Carolyn, Cumberland; Earl L. Rice and wife Irene, Beans Cove, Pa.; Allen E. Rice and wife Deena, Cumberland; two daughters, Evelyn G. Martz, Beans Cove, Pa.; Elsie M. Hymes and husband George, Cumberland; two brothers, Austin Mallow, Cumberland; Rev. Ray Mallow and wife June, Clearville, Pa.; two sisters, Myrtle Fisher, Flintstone; Ona Smith, Everett, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Top Holiness Church with the Rev. Glenn Jones and the Pastor Tom Landaker officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
LENA M. SHROYER
Mrs. Shroyer is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jay Harmon Shroyer Sr., whom she married
on March 23, 1947; a son, Jay Harmon Shroyer Jr. and wife Linda, Hyndman; a daughter, Dianne L. Ryan and husband Robert, Hyndman; two brothers, Stephen E. Poe, Portales, N.M., and James W. Poe, Puyallup, Wash.; two sisters, Betty Lou Lewis, Hyndman, and Shelba Jean Garlock, Hagerstown, Md.; and three grandchildren, Markwood H. Shroyer and wife Michele, and Robert J. Shroyer.
Mrs. Shroyer was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Wills Mountain Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Tuesday, July 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the Wills Mountain Church of Christ on Wednesday, July 14, from noon to 1 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the church on Wednesday, July 14, at 1 p.m. with Evangelist Harry T. Ryan officiating.
Interment will be in the Comps Cemetery.
