She is survived by her daughter, Jerry Ann, wife of Kenneth E. Bennett, Mount Savage; three grandchildren, Sherri Ann Uhl, Kenneth E. Bennett Jr. and Dawna G. Morgan; also eight great-grandchildren. She was a sister of Margaret Brocht, Meyersdale, Ida Mae Schrader, Lebanon, Ohio, Nelda Weld, Culpeper, Va., Nevin Schrock, Lakeland, Fla., Richard Schrock, Berlin, Jerry Schrock, Stow, Ohio, James and Sanford Schrock, both of Akron, Ohio.
She was a member of the Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where the service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, with Pastor Bruce Ashlock officiating.
Interment will be in Greenville Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.
BERTHA M. SPATARO
She was a resident of Melcroft since 1950 and was a loving mother and homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Roman Harden, Latrobe, and Elwood Spataro and his wife, Carol, Acme; two daughters, Kathleen "Sally" Gales and husband, Fred, Melcroft, and Mae LaRosa and husband, John, Acme; a stepson, Frank Spataro Jr. and wife, Bernice, Melcroft; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Spataro; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, where a prayer service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Harrold officiating.
A committal service and interment will follow in the St. Raymonds Cemetery, Saltlick Township, Pa.
JOHN K. "BERT" SPENCER SR.
Mr. Spencer was retired from the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America with 45 years of service. He was a member of Elliott Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Coast Artillery Africa up through the coast of Italy.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Goldie P. (Blubaugh) Spencer, Bedford; a son, John Kenneth Spencer Jr. and wife, Debra, Hurt, Va.; a special niece, Wanda Beard and husband, Richard, Roanoke, Va.; and four sisters-in-law, Elva Spencer, Gilpin, Md., Ida Saville, LaVale, Md., Betty Miller and Audry Blubaugh, both of Lake Gordon Road.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Bernard A. Yost officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
ROBERT L. SQUIBB
He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, and he was a member of Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. He also was past president of the Board of Trustees of the church, past member Mon-Yough Chamber of Commerce, and past member of the Small Business Manufacturers Association. Mr. Squibb was retired as president and owner of Alvah M. Squibb Company Inc., McKeesport. Since retirement he was a real estate agent for Wilson Banum Agency, McKeesport, and was currently employed as a real estate agent with A&A; Realty/Long & Foster Realtors. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of McKeesport Lodge No. 641, a member of Ancient, Accepted Scottish Rite/Valley of Pittsburgh.
He was a 1954 graduate of Grove City College, Grove City, Pa., Beta Sigma Fraternity, a 35-year member of the Grove City College Alumni Association, an active member of the Pittsburgh Alumni Chapter, and served as vice president and president of the Alumni Association. Mr. Squibb was instrumental in the publishing and distribution of the history of Grove City College "Mid the Pines." He served three years on the Grove City College Board of Trustees as an alumni trustee, and was past officer and director of the Deep Creek Lake Property Owners Association.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (Loach) Squibb; one son, Ronald L. Squibb, Belle Vernon, Pa.; one daughter, Jennifer Stetson, Baltimore; and two brothers, Richard Squibb, Pittsburgh, and Donald E. Squibb, Elizabeth, Pa.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A memorial servicce will be conducted at the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Karen Berns officiating.
Interment will be private.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Robert L. Squibb Memorial Scholarship Fund, Alumni Office, Grove City College, 100 Campus Drive, Grove City, PA 16127.
JOHN STANGARONE SR.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Tarabulski), of 55 years; and these children, John H. Jr., Silver Spring, Md., Teresa Marie Bisset, Romney, W.Va., Rosetta Elaine Foreback, Somerset, and Barbara, wife of Kenneth Steinrich, Salisbury; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosetta, wife of M. Ray Leckemby, Meyersdale.
At the age of 12 he built his first radio. He was a graduate of Salisbury High School, Class of 1933, and a graduate of Radio Technical School. He was a veteran of World War II and was stationed at Fort Monmouth, N.J., where he served as instructor of communications. He received the rank of Master Sergeant, serving in England, France and Germany as a member of the Army Signal Corp. He retired as Postmaster of Springs with 24 years of service. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury, where he served as a Deacon.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale.
On Saturday he will be taken to St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury, to lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of the service, with Pastor Ray Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Salisbury Cemetery.
The family suggests that contributions be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 33, Salisbury, PA 15558, to the Memorial Fund of the Church.
FLORA R. STREETT
Mrs. Streett was a graduate of the Bedford High School Class of 1944. She was of the Protestant faith and was active in the Cumberland Valley Recreation Council and assisted in sponsoring a little league baseball team. She was youth director for the Methodist Youth Fellowship for Centerville United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday School teacher. She had worked for 45 years as office manager for Commercial Press Printing Co. in Cumberland, retiring in 1990.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Garry Knaebel officiating.
Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Centerville.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
CAROL L. SCHILLING
Mrs. Schilling is survived by David E. Schilling, her husband of 19 years; two sons, Richard A. McGough and his wife, Lorrain, St. Louis, Mo., and Donald T. McGough and wife, Joyce, Johnstown; three daughters, Wendy S. Andrews and husband, David, Austin, Texas, Sandy J. Miller and husband, Ronald, Chambersburg, and Terri A. Pine and husband, Robbie, Mercersburg; a brother, Robert Coates, Williamsburg, Va.; and 11 grandchildren.
Mrs. Schilling, a member of Bible Gospel Church, Hyndman, was a licensed practical nurse.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Bible Gospel Church, two miles north of Hyndman on Pennsylvania Route 96, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fay E. Leydig officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude's Hospital.
