Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband of 32 years, Robert Seese; two sons, Darwin ``D.W.'' Seese of Markleysburg, Pa. and Patrick Seese of Farmington; a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Seese; one grandson, Travis Seese; a brother, Kenneth Martin of Waldorf, Md.; and a sister, Twila Fike of Friendsville, Md.
Mrs. Seese was a member of the Farmington Free Methodist Church in Farmington. She was the former co-owner of the Old Mill Restaurant in Friendsville, Md., and a member of the Farmington Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, during which time she served as president.
Friends will be received at the Rodney S. Turner Funeral Home, 254 Main St., Markleysburg, Pa., Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Farmington Free Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted at the church Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dale Rexrode officiating.
Interment will follow in the Thomas Cemetery, Markleysburg.
HELEN E. SHAFFER
Mrs. Shaffer is survived by a son, Danny S. Shaffer and wife Mary Katherine, Ellerslie; a daughter, Rebecca J. Cutter and husband Jim, St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Boore, Jennifer Paul, Steven Cutter, Renae Sisler and Melanie Shaffer; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shaffer, a dispatcher for the Hyndman Area Rescue Squad, was past president and charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, PA, on Wednesday, June 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, June 3, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steven Craft officiating. Interment will be in the Hyndman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Hyndman Area Rescue Squad.
JOHN EDWARD SHAFFER
Mr. Shaffer is survived by a son, Ronald E. Shaffer and wife, Rebecca, Ellerslie, Md.; a daughter, Judith A. Croner and husband, Gregory, Berlin; a brother, Harold Shaffer, Mount Savage; two sisters, Effie Mae Hughes, Mount Savage, and Mary D. Bryson, Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Trisha Kendall, Rodney Shaffer, JoAnne Lowery, Rhonda Shippy, Justin, Nathan and Steven Croner; and two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Brandon Kendall.
Mr. Shaffer, a veteran of the U.S. Army World War II campaigns in Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe, was a retired fabricator for Kelly-Springfield Tires, Cumberland. He was a member of the Mount Savage V.F.W. Old Rail Post, and Cooks Mills United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Thursday, May 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, May 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Julie Applegate officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association, Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital, or to the Ellerslie Ambulance Association.
RICHARD SHEARER SR.
Born Feb. 16, 1929, in Midland, Md., he was the son of the late David and Mary (Johnson) Shearer. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabel McCormick and Bertha Green; two grandsons; and two granddaughters.
Mr. Shearer was owner and operator of Dick and Clara's Restaurant and Tavern on Virginia Avenue for 34 years. He was a graduate of Beall High School class of 1947, attended college in Washington, D.C., and was the former comptroller of the Washington Post Inc. He was a member of the Cumberland Eagles Aerie #245, Cumberland Moose Lodge #171, B.P.O. Elks #63, and former member of the Allegany County Republican Central Committee.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Z. (Karns) Shearer; one son, Richard W. Shearer Jr., Cumberland; six daughters, Deborah Bucia and husband Robert, Fleetwood, C. Lori Dixon and husband Larry, Ijamesville, Md., Pamela Adhern, Douglasville, Debra Ray, Laurie Vanetta, and Cathy Moore and husband Gary, all of Cumberland; one brother, William Shearer and wife Betty, Riverside, Calif; one sister, Norma Alexander, Midland, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted there on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Shumaker officiating.
Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery, formerly Bortz Cemetery, Centerville, Pa. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
HELEN R. SHORT
Born on Nov. 30, 1928, in Coal Junction, Pa., she was the daughter of George Garfield Fisher, Salisbury, and the late Beatrice Marie (Bluebaugh) Fisher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Short, Sr.
Mrs. Short was an active member of St. Paul Wilhelm United Church of Christ, St. Paul, Pa., and was a retired CNA of Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, Md.
She has touched the lives of so many and due to her sudden passing, her memory shall never fade. She will be deeply missed by friends and family.
Surviving are three sons, Charles William Short, Jr., and friend, Joy McKenzie, George David Short, Sr., and wife, the former Brenda Lea Stein, Kenneth Alan Short and wife, the former Melanie Marie Seibert, all of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Haning and husband, Ron, Melissa Christine McKenzie and husband, Heath, George David Short, Jr., Justin Allan Short and Kylee Marie Short; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Renee, Morgan Kathleen and Ronald Scott Haning and Kaylyn Nichole McKenzie; five sisters, Dorothy Eileen "Sis" Seifert, Meyersdale, Norma Jean Meyers and Patricia Louise Pritts, both of Salisbury, Judith Maxine Gindlesperger, Jerome, Pa., and Gladys Mae Brown, Garrett, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the St. Paul Wilhelm United Church of Christ, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bruce Ashlock, officiating. Friends may call the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either St. Paul's Church or Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department.
ELLA E. SHRADER
Born Sept. 24, 1901, in Meyersdale, she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Deist. She was also preceded in death by two baby daughters,in 1930 and 1933; and her husband, Allen Shrader, in 1962. She was the last surviving member of her seven siblings.
Mrs. Shrader was the co-owner of D&S; Cleaners in Frostburg, along with their daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Frostburg, sang for many local choirs and church functions; and was a member of Eastern Star No. 51.
Surviving are daughter, Margaret Delbrook and husband, Calvin, of Winter Park, Fla.; granddaughter, Patty Love and husband, Ronald, of Winter Park; two great-grandchildren, Wendy Love, of College Park, Fla., R.J. Love, of St. Louis, Mo.; and a great-great-grandson, Austin Love.
Cremation arrangements are being made by Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Winter Park, Fla.
Memorial services will be held at a later time.
HARRY W. SHROYER
Born May 12, 1912, in Comps Corner, he was the son of the late Melvin Elsworth and Effie (Clites) Shroyer. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Shroyer) Shroyer; one son, Merle Shroyer; and one stepson, James Barker.
Surviving are one daughter, Betty Crislip, Stoystown; two brothers, Charles E. Shroyer, Ellerslie, Md., and Gerald L. Shroyer, Hyndman; two sisters, Elsie Shaffer, Hyndman, and Almeda Korns, Lancaster; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Isabell and her sons, John and June.
Mr. Shroyer was a laborer for the B&O; Railroad for over 40 years. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #265 for 60 years.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Saturday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 5 p.m.
Services will be conducted there Saturday at 5 p.m. with the Rev. William Hicks officiating.
Interment will be in the Comps Cemetery.
