Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Cleo Preston and Mary Elizabeth Potter Bageant.
He retired from General Motors Corporation in Martinsburg, W.Va., where he worked in the Maintenance Department.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army National Guard with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He was a member and elder of Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church in Hancock.
He was a member of the local United Auto Workers.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Y. Mitchell Bageant; his former wife, Janice N. Pleasants Bageant of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; five sons, Paul G. Bageant of Tallahassee, Fla., Larry E. Bageant of Spotsylvania, Va., Keith G. Bageant of New Carrolton, Md., Eric A. Bageant of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Kenneth L. Bageant of Hancock; two stepdaughters, Beverly Powell of Hancock and Bonnie Jo Ashkettle of Warfordsburg; two stepsons, Randy C. Flowers and Thomas L. Flowers, both of Hancock; 12 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robin D. Bageant; and a brother, Frederick E. Bageant.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, Exline Road in Hancock. The Rev. Phillip Unger will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Buck Valley Road in Buck Valley, Pa.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock, which will open at 4 p.m.; visitation also will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 327, Hancock, MD 21750.
Levi W. Clippinger
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Levi Wayne Clippinger, 83, a resident of Menno Haven, and formerly of 204 Edwards Ave., Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Menno Haven.
Born Aug. 27, 1916, in Letterkenny Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence and Frances Sollenberger Clippinger.

He retired from Rotz Lumber Co. in Chambersburg after 35 years of service. He also worked on several farms in the area.
He was a member of Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church.
He volunteered at Camp Joy-El, and sang in the Chambersburg Area Community Men's Chorus.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet Painter of Chambersburg; a foster daughter, Barbara Harper of Chambersburg; a sister, Nellie Dangler of Chambersburg; a grandson; five foster grandchildren; and two foster great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene Beth; a sister, Mary Rotz; and his twin brother, Arthur Clippinger.
Services will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church, 465 Center St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Kevin Witter will officiate. Private burial will be in Air Hill Cemetery in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Martha A. Mowen
SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - Martha A. "Petey" Mowen, 75, of 11082 Loop Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa.
Born Feb. 8, 1925, in Evanston, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Osie Huett and Delma Bateman O'Neill.
She graduated from Coraopolis High School and Grace Martin's Business School in Pittsburgh. She attended New Mexico University and in 1948 received her bachelor of science degree in education from Slippery Rock State Teachers College in Slippery Rock, Pa. She received her credits for certification from Shippensburg State Teachers College, Shippensburg, Pa. Later, she became certified in special education through Western Maryland College in Westminster, Md., and Penn State University at the Mont Alto, Pa., Campus.
Early in her career, she was employed as a secondary teacher at Samuel Dixon State Hospital in South Mountain for 17 years. From 1970 until retiring in 1982, she was employed by Lincoln Intermediate Unit in New Oxford, Pa., as a teacher in Franklin County, Pa., her last position being at Franklin Learning Center in Chambersburg, Pa.
Following her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for eight years for the Waynesboro Area School District and the Lincoln Intermediate Unit. She also served as a Notary Public for 25 years.
She was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of Moose Lodge 1136 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as past president, both of Waynesboro, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Mowen, whom she married
April 27, 1949; two daughters, Ruth Ann Carbaugh and Kay E. Whitsel, both of South Mountain; a sister, Shirley Larsen of Antioch, Ill.; a brother, Robert Huett of Little Rock, Ark.; three grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor James R. Ragno will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery in South Mountain.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ethel M. Jones
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ethel Mae Jones, 87, of Manorcare Health Services and formerly of 52 Reservoir Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., and Edenville Road, Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Manorcare.
Born Sept. 14, 1912, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary Auman Gift.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Jones Sr., in 1989.
She worked at the former Stanley Co. for more than 43 years before retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Fourth Street Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg and Otterbein United Brethren Church in Waynesboro.
She was a member of AARP and Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America Union.
She is survived by a daughter, Arlene Uhler of Chesapeake, Md.; a son, Fred Jones Jr. of Waynesboro; a sister, Sara Kennedy of Chambersburg; a brother, Donald Gift of Fayetteville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, two sisters and a brother.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave. in Chambersburg. Pastor Don Baker and the Rev. Allan Mummert will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Florence L. Young

Born Feb. 7, 1922, in Hampton, Va., she was the daughter of the late Clifton B. and Florence E. Payne Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford F. Young, in 1979.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chambersburg.
She was a member of American Legion Wesley Yeager Post 606 in Fort Loudon.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori L. Young of Fort Loudon; two sons, Gerald F. Young and Lawrence V. Young, both of Fort Loudon; a brother, Albert W. Martin of Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
A memorial service will be Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas, Pa. James McGehee will officiate.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franklin County Area Agency on Aging, 218 N. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
