Born Aug. 12, 1908, in Amberson Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late John E. and Margaret B. Varner Eckenrode.
His wife, Ruth G. Timmons Eckenrode, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died April 17, 1961.
He was retired from the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, Pa. He had at one time been employed by Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and he served several years as a Fannett Township Supervisor. He also owned and operated a saw mill for 17 years and owned and operated a farm all of his adult life.
He was a member of Amberson United Methodist Church, Amberson, where he served as a trustee for several years and an usher for 10 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Vesta M. Spidle of Chambersburg; a son, John J. Eckenrode of Newville, Pa.; a brother, Earl E. Eckenrode of Amberson, Pa.; a companion of 37 years, Edith M. DeWalt; two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ada R. Boher, in October 1997.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, Pa. The Rev.. Daniel H. Kelchner will officiate. Burial will be in Amberson Union Cemetery, Amberson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Lester L. Runk
WILLOW HILL, Pa. - Lester L. Runk, 82, of P.O. Box 128, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 14, 1917, in Willow Hill, he was the son of the late John and Ruth Coy Runk.
He was employed at Rosenberry Brothers Lumber Co., Fannettsburg, Pa., with 34 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen E. Hockenberry Runk; a daughter, Minnia L. Rosenberry of Willow Hill; a sister, Ethel Parson of Blairs Mills, Pa.; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Dry Run, Pa. The Rev. Marlin Neil will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon to 12:25 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, Dry Run.
Earl L. Ward
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Earl L. "Piff" Ward, 85, of 11667 Mercersburg Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 14, 1914, in Little Cove, Pa., he was the son of the late Dallas and Iva Smith Ward.
He had been employed by the former Fry Stone and Coal Co. of Mercersburg; Grove Worldwide of Shade Grove, Pa., and he was last employed by Martin-Marietta Co., of Mercersburg, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Little Cove.
He was a social member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 and Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517, both of Mercersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Shives Ward, whom he married
April 12, 1933; two daughters, Shirley L. Stout of Greencastle, Pa., and Connie W. Stuff of Mercersburg; a son, Harold E. Ward of Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Russell M. Ward, Paul E. Ward and Warren D. Ward, all of Mercersburg; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Henry K. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery of Little Cove.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard E. Foreman
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Richard E. Foreman, 63, of 719 Edwards Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at ManorCare Health Services.
Born June 6. 1936, in Edenville, Pa., he was the son of Alice E. Coble Foreman of Chambersburg and the late Lawrence Foreman.
He was a 1954 graduate of Chambersburg High School, Chambersburg.
He retired in 1997 from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg. He had a total of 20 years combined government service. After retiring he worked part-time at Penn National Golf Course, Fayetteville, Pa.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Chambersburg. He attended Scotland United Methodist Church, Scotland, Pa.
He was a member of National AARP, Marine Corps League, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all of Chambersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Marlene Oyler Foreman, whom he married
March 23, 1963; two daughters, Lori L. Heckman of Fayetteville and Jill R. Gilbert of Chambersburg; a son, Michael A. Foreman of Allison Park, Pa.; two sisters, Doris Eshelman and Barbara Higgins, both of Chambersburg; two brothers, Alan Foreman of Fayetteville and Donald Foreman of Florida; five granddaughters and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Scotland United Methodist Church, 4040 Scotland Main St., Scotland. The Rev. Charles L. Kind will officiate. Burial will be private.
There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church on Tuesday.

Isabella A. Kint
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Isabella A. Smetzer Kint, 77, a resident of Greaton House, and formerly of 211 W. Born Aug. 26, 1922, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eva M. Wade Smetzer.

She retired as an office clerk in 1977 after 30 years of service with Miller's Furniture Store, which later became Andrew's Furniture Store.
She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro.
She is survived by a son, Larry E. Kint of Waynesboro; two sisters, Geraldine Shetter of New Franklin, Pa., and Virginia Toms of Waynesboro; a step-granddaughter; two step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry E. Smetzer.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa. The Rev. Wilber L. Sites will officiate.
