Born Sept. 19, 1908, near Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lelia Omwake Barnhart.
Her husband, Eugene J. Sipes, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sept. 8, 1987.
She worked for 20 years at the Mercersburg Shirt Factory.
She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Mercersburg.
She had been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty Lou McElroy, of Mercersburg; one brother, C.J. Barnhart of Quincy, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. The Rev. Milton W. Benny Jr. will officiate.
A viewing will be Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave. in Mercersburg.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 129 E. Seminary St., Mercersburg, PA 17236.
Melvin C. Byers
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Melvin C. Byers, 81, of Providence Place, 1995 Wayne Road, and formerly of 1399 Brechbill Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Nov. 26, 1918, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Harvey W. and Margaret Cormany Byers.
He retired in 1981 from Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, Pa., after 17 years as a custodian. He owned and operated a farm in Lurgan Township for 25 years.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Pleasant Hall, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Esther J. Keefer Byers, whom he married
Nov. 26, 1942; two daughters, Phyllis M. Swartz of Newville, Pa. and Leitha J. Rountree of St. Thomas, Pa.; a sister, Eleanor Burkholder of Chambersburg; two brothers, Donald Byers of Chambersburg and Richard Byers of Waynesboro, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Pugh.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Mark A. Werner will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Blanche B. Fratscher

She was a graduate of Easton High School.

She was a member of Chambersburg Ladies Bowling League at Nellie Fox Bowling Alley.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Naugle of Chambersburg; a sister, Helen Schein of Washington, N.J.; three granddaughters, Beth Cuff of Landrum, S.C.; Lisa Kernan of San Diego and Michelle Naugle of Chambersburg; a great-granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Clarence E. Bernecker
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Clarence E. Bernecker, 96, of Penn Hall, and formerly of 6360 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Penn Hall.
Born Nov. 26, 1903, in Fort Loudon, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Ettie Bivens Bernecker.
His first wife of 64 years, Catherine Hopkins Bernecker, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Feb. 3, 1989.
He was a 1921 graduate of Lemasters High School, a 1922 graduate of Chambersburg High School and 1924 graduate of Shippensburg Normal School with bachelor of science degrees in elementary education, geography, science, reading, health and industrial arts.
He began teaching in 1925 in Upton, Pa. He then taught fifth through eighth grades in St. Thomas; and taught industrial arts in Tuscarora School District, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in St. Thomas, had been a choir director and Sunday school teacher.
He was a member of St. Thomas Community Band, was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 128, was the community "handyman" and had served as enumerator for St. Thomas Township. He was inducted into St. Thomas Alumni Hall of Fame in 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lohr Bernecker; one daughter, Helen Hoover of Chambersburg; two sons, David Bernecker of St. Thomas and Glenn Bernecker of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Robert Dean Morrison will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery in Fort Loudon.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 7169 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, PA 17252.
David R. Ehrhart

He retired in December 1998 from L.E.A.D. after 26 years. He had been employed by Western Auto Store in Chambersburg.
He was a Vietnam veteran.
He was a member of Upper Strasburg Lutheran Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Kelly Hetzer of Chambersburg; one son, Tavis J. Ehrhart of Chambersburg; one sister, Brenda Heckman of Chambersburg; one grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Pastor Mark Werner will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
