Born Feb. 26, 1918, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late William Earl and Florence Anderson Spencer.
He was a 1937 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He retired from Letterkenny Amy Depot, Chambersburg, as assistant fire chief after 32 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima.
He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, was a member of the Administrative Board; a trustee; and president and treasurer of Hoover Men's Bible Class.
He was a member of General James Chambers Lodge 801 F&AM, Chambersburg; Harrisburg Consistory and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, both of Harrisburg; Franklin County Heritage Society, Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, both of Chambersburg; Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223 of Shippensburg, Pa.; a member of Chambersburg Borough Planning and Zoning Committee and volunteered with Chambersburg Toy Mission.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Zullinger Spencer, whom he married
Aug. 31,1941; a daughter, Patricia Morris of Chambersburg; a son, Rodney N. Spencer of Shippensburg; a granddaughter; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Dunfee and Eva Martin.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. The Revs. A. Robert Cook and Ronald Mateer will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
There will be no viewing; the family will receive friends Thursday at noon at the church.
General James Chambers Lodge 801 F&AM will conduct a Masonic service prior to the service.

Dorothy L. Hoffman
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Dorothy L. Jeffrey L. Sprow

Born Sept. 18, 1953, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Roy I. and Anna R. Sprow Staley.
He was a 1971 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
He was employed at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa. He then worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, Pa., in the janitorial department before retiring.
He was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Linda D. Gordon Sprow, whom he married
July 7, 1994; a stepdaughter, Stacey L. Green of Waynesboro; a stepson, Jacob W. Green Jr., of Waynesboro; a half-brother, Gary Staley of Fayetteville, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie J. Sprow; and two brothers, James Staley and William H. Black.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Revs. John W. Shubert and Donald L. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
William J. Schwartz
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - William J. Cydonia Road, of injuries sustained in a motorcycle/vehicle accident.
Born Sept. 25, 1958, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of Walter A. and Doris J. Reeder Schwartz, of Chambersburg.
He was employed by Environmental Comfort Inc., of St. Thomas, Pa., as job foreman and residential estimator.
He attended St. James United Brethren Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Marine Corps League and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all of Chambersburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Tonya I. Schwartz of Fayetteville; a son, Tye W. Schwartz of Fayetteville; four brothers, Thomas W. Schwartz of Greencastle, Pa., Terry R. Schwartz and Gary E. Schwartz, both of Chambersburg, and Edward W. Schwartz of Fayetteville; and his former wife, Beverly A. Schwartz of Fayetteville.
Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Aletha Painter will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen M. Warnick
STATE LINE, Pa. - Helen Marie Warnick, 53, of State Line, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, June 12, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 6, 1947, in Ridgely, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Margaret Marie Diehl Barnes.
She was employed as a 4 Star cashier with Wal-Mart and with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service for 10 years.
She attended Baptist Temple Dual Highway in Hagerstown.
She was a member of the Red Feathers 59 in Williamsport.
She is survived by her husband, Paul M. Warnick; eight daughters, Karen Pryor and Judith Cole, both of Hagerstown, Juanita Wilson and Jennifer Warnick, both of Greencastle, Pa., Paula Michele Warnick of McDonald, Pa., Nancy Warnick of Daisytown, Pa., Margaret Painter of Smithsburg and Brenda Messenger of New Eagle, Pa.; three sons, Richie Buehrle of McKeesport, Pa., Paul Warnick Jr. of Washington, Pa., and Luther Warnick Jr. of Hagerstown; five sisters, Edith Johnson of Vera Beach, Fla., Mary King, Linda Grimm and Kathleen Dawson, all of Cumberland, Md., and Marilyn Perdew of Kerryville, Texas; one brother, James Perdew of Cumberland; 34 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Daris Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wesley M. Channing
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Wesley M. Born Dec. 9, 1914, in California, Pa., he was the son of the late James W. and Flora Showman Channing.
He attended Penn State University and graduated from California (Pa.) State College.
He taught school in Virginia; and later taught drafting at the Norfolk (Va.) and Millington (Tenn.) Naval Air Stations. He worked for H.J. Heinz Co. in Pittsburgh and in Chambersburg from 1946 until retiring in 1972.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg, and a trustee.
He served three terms on the Avonworth Union School District board. He was a member of Falling Spring Chapter 2840 AARP, Chambersburg, and worked with the Chambersburg Toy Mission. A woodworker, he crafted clocks, dollhouses and furniture.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Edwards Channing, whom he married
Aug. 3, 1938; two daughters, Judy Kirkpatrick of Felton, Del., and Susan Petty of Rocky River, Ohio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg. The Rev. C. Edward Morgan and Chaplain Vernon Isner will officiate. Private graveside services will be held in Parklawns Memorial Gardens prior to the service.
There will be no public viewing.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church in the Adult Sunday School Room.
Memorial donations may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to the Benevolent Fund of Menno-Haven, Inc., 2075 Scotland Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
