Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born March 25, 1936, in Myersville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jesse C. Sr. and Della Ethel Guyer Gamble.
She retired in 1994 from Piney Mountain Nursing Home, after more than 10 years. She previously had worked for Menno Haven and Knouse Foods.
She was a member of First Church of God in Chambersburg and sang in the Fun Bunch Choir.
She is survived by her husband, John M. Cummins, whom she married
Oct. 20, 1972; two sisters, Sylvia Peck of Orrtanna, Pa. and Goldie Jenkins of Carlisle; and a brother, Jesse C. Gamble Jr. of Carlisle, Pa.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at First Church of God. The Rev. Earl E. Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Margaret L. Pike
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Margaret L. Pike, 78, of Piney Mountain Retirement Home, and formerly of 149 N. Carlisle St. in Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Piney Mountain.
Born Sept. 21, 1921, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Overcash and Esther Fisher Overcash Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel O. Pike, in 1985.
She was a graduate of Mercersburg High School.
She worked at Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, Pa.; and Waynesboro (Pa.) Knitting Mill.
She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ of Greencastle.
She is survived by two sons, Larry D. Pike of Greencastle and Rodman Redard of Waco, Texas; a brother, Charles Overcash of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. in Greencastle. The Rev. Mary C. Wehr will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edna C. Fahrney
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Edna C. Born May 21, 1918, in Frostburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Lancaster Bittner.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, E. Woodrow Crow, in 1971; and by her second husband, Chester E. Fahrney, in 1973.
She worked at Hess Orchards. She retired from Stanley Co. in 1987.
She was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, and the Sewing Circle.
She was a member of AARP; and Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union.
She volunteered at Camp Joel.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn E. Thomas of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; four sons, Dilbert L. Crow of Five Forks, Bobby E. Crow of South Mountain, Pa., Jacky D. Crow of Quincy, Pa. and Mark L. Crow of Frederick, Md.; three sisters, Boots Cross of Cumberland, Md., Annabelle Nazelrod and Lois Stride, both of LaVale; two brothers, Dilbert Bittner of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Rust Bittner of LaVale, Md.; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, and three brothers.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Five Forks Brethren Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Five Forks. Pastors Wilbur F. Besecker, H. Ray Kipe and William Shank will officiate. Burial will be in Antrim Mennonite Church Cemetery in Greencastle, Pa.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home, South Church and West Second streets in Waynesboro; and Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

James W. Ashway
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - James W. Born May 10, 1907, in Hamilton Township, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Emma Catherine Weaver Ashway.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Burkholder Ashway, in 1971.
He was a 1925 graduate of St. Thomas (Pa.) High School.
He was a self-employed poultry farmer.
He was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Clara F. Wingert Ashway, whom he married
Nov. 25, 1976; three daughters, Josephine Fishel of Baltimore, Phyllis Gettel of Orrstown, Pa. and Kathryn Small of Chambersburg; two sons, Vernon Ashway of Waynesboro and Lloyd Ashway of Chambersburg; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Deitrich; and a brother, Paul Ashway.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Road in Chambersburg. The Revs. Robert D. Verno and Maurice A. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in New Guilford Cemetery in Guilford Township.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. Visitation also will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the church.

Clarence V. Carmack

Born Jan. 29, 1917, in Mercersburg, he was the son of the late James R. and Ida Mae Robinson Carmack.
His wife, Marcelle Fidanza Carmack, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1991.
He worked as a baker at Mercersburg Academy from 1947 to 1948. He then was employed by Mercersburg Tannery, retiring in 1982.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany and France.
He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Mercersburg, which he and his wife helped to establish and build.
He was a member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 in Mercersburg.
He is survived by eight sisters, Virginia Wolfe of Hagerstown, Mary Ressor of Greencastle, Pa., Mabel Wood of Columbia, S.C., Audrey Buterbaugh, Margaret Mankoski, Helen Williams, Jacqueline Mann and Clara Belle Wagner, all of Mercersburg; two brothers, Paul Carmack of Greencastle, and Harold Carmack of Hustontown, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Carmack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph L. Stahura as celebrant. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg, with military services by Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to MMP and W Fire and Rescue, 132 N. Main St., Mercersburg, PA 17236; or to St. Luke's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 121, Mercersburg, PA 17236.
Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg.
