Born June 20, 1939, she was the daughter of Delmar B. Brown of Chambersburg, and the late Marshall S. Brown.
She was a 1958 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She retired in 1995 from the federal government, Washington, D.C., after 30 years.
She was a member of John Wesley AME Zion Church, Chambersburg, was a missionary and belonged to prayer groups.
She tutored in Franklin County Public Schools, was a member of Franklin County Sunday School Association, a volunteer at Chambersburg Hospital and a member of Christian Endeavor of Washington, D.C.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Hugh Crittenden Jr.; two daughters, Linda S. Garner of Landover, Md. and Monique D. Jackson of Forestville, Md.; two sisters, Marsha L. Jackson of Maryland and Sondra G. Brown of Chambersburg; four granddaughters, seven nieces, two nephews, five great-nieces and seven great-nephews.
Services will be Thursday at noon at John Wesley AME Zion Church, 155 W. Catherine St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Perry W. Medley will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.
Devon D. Landis
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Devon D. Landis, 25, of 2517 Shields Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, March 6, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 11, 1974, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Daniel A. and Doris J. Heckman Landis, of Chambersburg.
He attended Edenville Emmanuel School, Edenville, Pa.
He was owner/operator of D and L Construction Co., Chambersburg.
He was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church, Chambersburg.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Laura S. Lehman Landis, whom he married
April 27, 1996; a daughter, Denise Renae Landis at home; four brothers, Dwaine R. Landis of Edenville, Durrell C. Landis, Dana L. Landis and Damar A. Landis, all of Chambersburg; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon L. Heckman of St. Thomas, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg. Bishop Allen J. Fleagle and the Revs. Lee B. Lehman and Nathan L. Wadel will officiate. Burial will be in Rowe Mennonite Church Cemetery, Shippensburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg; and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Strasburg Mennonite Church, c/o LeeRoy Yeager, 2586 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
James R. Smith

Born Feb. 28, 1911, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Lue Elgie Rockwell Smith.
He had been a truck driver for Hafer's Construction Co. in Chambersburg.
He attended Upper Strasburg United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Douglas Smith; and one sister, Anna Mary Horn of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Upper Strasburg United Methodist Church. The Revs. Mark Hagy and Earl F. Barrick will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Strasburg Methodist Church Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Jessie V. Deshong
NEEDMORE, Pa. - Jessie V. Deshong, 99, of Fulton County Medical Center extended care unit, and formerly of Needmore, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at the medical center.
Born Dec. 2, 1900, in Sipes Mill, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Nathan H. and Minervia Strait Mellott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard R. Deshong.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathaleen A. Detwiler of McConnellsburg, Pa., and Kathryn A. Mellott of Needmore; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; two brothers; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., 322 N. 2nd St., McConnellsburg. The Revs. Roger Truax and William Garland will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
There will be visitation today one hour prior to the services.
Martha M. Sprenkle
MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Martha M. Sprenkle, 91, of 405 N. Fourth St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Sprenkle.
She graduated from Shippensburg State College and attended Penn State and Juiniata College.
She was employed with Forbes Road School District as a school teacher, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of McConnellsburg.
She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and the state and national Retired Teachers Associations.
She is survived by a grandson, Jeff Sprenkle of York, Pa. and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son; a daughter and a sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., 322 N. 2nd St., McConnellsburg. The Revs. Belvy White and Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 2 to 9 p.m., and one hour prior to the services.
Hazel E. Croft

She is survived by four sisters, Martha Kirkpatrick of Waynesboro, Pa., Vera Carr of Fayetteville, Rebecca LeMar of Chambersburg, Pa., and Nelda Swisher of York, Pa.; three brothers, David W. Kissinger of Chambersburg, Donald W. Kissinger of Scotland and Richard Kissinger of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. before the services.
