Born Aug. 12, 1915, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late D. Roszel and Bessie Jane Fisher McConnell.
His wife, June Highlands McConnell, whom he married

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He retired Aug. 31, 1980, from Polymer Corp. in Reading, Pa., where he worked as an accountant. Before that, he was employed by Reading Hardware Co. and as an accountant for American Chain and Cable Co.
He was a member of Olivet Orential Lodge 385 F&AM in Philadelphia, Excelsior Chapter 237 Royal Arch Masons, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown.
He is survived by a niece.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gayl L. Kinney, and a brother, Clarence McConnell.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Renfrew Museum and Park, 1010 Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium.
Lester W. Berger
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lester W. Berger, 88, of 200 N. Main St. and formerly of Fort Loudon, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born May 28, 1911, in Coopersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert and Minnie C. Wendling Berger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice D. Malone Berger, in 1993.
He retired from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda, Md., after 10 years of service. Earlier, he served for 30 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a licensed practical nurse from Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda in 1959.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg.
He is survived by three daughters, Alice Cowan of Falmouth, Mass., Clare Berger of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Margaret Neil of Fannettsburg, Pa.; two sons, Robert Berger of Grand Lake Stream, Maine, and Dennis Berger of Martinsburg, W,Va,; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Berger; two sisters; and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave. in Chambersburg. The Rev. Daniel F. Lawler SJ will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery in Chambersburg, with military graveside services conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg. Recitation of the holy rosary will be Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ALS Regional Center, c/o St. Peter's Hospital, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
Glenn E. Bumbaugh
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Glenn E. Born Nov. 27, 1943, in Chambersburg, he was the son of James E. and Lydia M. Gossert Bumbaugh Jr. of Fayetteville, Pa.
He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School; and attended Penn State Mont Alto Campus of Penn State University, studying management.
He retired in 1999 from Grove Worldwide in Shady Grove, Pa. after more than 35 years of employment.
He was a member of Fayetteville Pentecost Church of God.
He was a member of Order of the Owls Nest 1073, where he served on the board of directors for a number of years; Eagles Club; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1191, all of Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Linda K. Stewart Bumbaugh, whom he married
July 11, 1964; a daughter, Kimberly A. Swartz of Arlington, Va.; a son, Glenn E. Bumbaugh of Mont Alto; a sister, Christine M. Mills of Greencastle, Pa.; three brothers, Ray E. Bumbaugh and Denny O. Bumbaugh, both of Fayetteville and Barry L. Bumbaugh of Mont Alto; two grandchildren; aunts; uncles; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Bumbaugh.
Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jessie V. Deshong
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Jessie V. Born Dec. 2, 1900, in Sipes Mill, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Nathan H. and Minervia Strait Mellott.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard R. Deshong.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathaleen A. Detwiler of McConnellsburg and Kathryn A. Mellott of Needmore; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. 2nd St. in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Roger Truax and the Rev. William Girland will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
Bettie Ramey

Born Aug. 18, 1914, in Charles Town, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Lee and Elisa Brown Ramey.
She was a 1932 graduate of Chambersburg High School in Chambersburg, Pa.
She was employed by Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro, in the sales department for 20 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro.
She was a member of Waynesboro Historical Society, Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, Antietam Garden Club of Waynesboro and was a volunteer at Waynesboro Hospital.
She is survived by a sister, Barbara Rowe of Denton, Md., three nieces and three nephews.
She is preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ramey.
Private graveside services will be held in Green Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
