Born Aug. 12, 1915, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late D. Roszel and Bessie Jane Fisher McConnell.
His wife, June Highlands McConnell, whom he married

He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He retired Aug. 31, 1980, from Polymer Corp. in Reading, Pa., where he worked as an accountant. Before that he was employed by Reading Hardware Co. and worked as an accountant for American Chain and Cable Co.
He was a member of Olivet Orential Lodge 385 F&AM in Philadelphia, Excelsior Chapter 237 Royal Arch Masons, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown.
He is survived by a niece.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gayl L. Kinney, and a brother, Clarence McConnell.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Renfrew Museum and Park, 1010 Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium.
Charles O. Burns Jr.
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Charles O. "Jack" Burns Jr., 85, of 46 N. Carlisle St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy, Pa.
Born March 25, 1914, in Hyndman, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Oliver Burns Sr. and Ruth M. Cook Burns.
He was a 1936 graduate of Penn State University.
He taught school at Washington Street School in Greencastle, in Hyndman and Hagerstown; worked as an administrator in the Somerset County School System; and was employed by the Maryland State Department of Education in Baltimore from 1966 until his retirement in 1978.
He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific.
He was a member of Old Home Week Committee of Greencastle; Greencastle Library Board; and Jerome King Playground Board. He supported Tayamentasacta Environmental Center and donated tools and artifacts to its blacksmith shop.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys B. Burton Burns; a daughter, Carol B. Burns of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Sante Fe, N.M.; two sons, John C. Burns of Newark, Md., and Stephen B. Burns of Greencastle; two brothers, James H. Burns of State College, Pa., and Thomas C. Burns of Sevierville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. in Greencastle. The Rev. Rawley Boone will officiate.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Hyndman Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen Craft will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Allison-Antrim Museum Inc., 365 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, PA 17225; or Conococheague Institute, 12995 Bain Road, Mercersburg, PA 17236.
Clifford H. Ripple
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Clifford H. "Pip" Ripple, 87, of 30 S. Born July 15, 1912, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late J. Harry and Nellie V. Myers Ripple.

He was employed as a salesman for the Snowberger Oldsmobile dealership and Mel Brown Buick Inc. for 20 years. He retired in 1972 as owner and operator of Star Distributors. He worked part time as a self-employed contractor for Newton Manufacturing Co. from 1986 until 1999.
He served in the European Theater during World War II.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.
He was a Golden Eagle member of Fraternal Order of Eagles; a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191; William Max McLaughlin Post 695;, Order of the Owls Nest 1073; B.P.O. Elks 731; Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15; George Washington 487 Knights of Pythias; Eagles Club Inc.; South Chapter AARP 2977; and A.T.H. and L. Fire Co., all of Waynesboro. He also was a member of Blue Ridge Sportsman Club, AMVETS of Fairfield Post 172 and AARP.
He is survived by grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gilson B. Ripple.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The Rev. W. Sherwood Thomas will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium in Waynesboro.
Dennis A. Kendall

Born Jan. 30, 1946, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Lucille Abercrombie Kendall of McConnellsburg and the late David D. Kendall.
He had been a self-employed truck driver.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Harrisonville, Pa.; Fulton Overseas Veterans Association of McConnellsburg; McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.; Sons of the American Legion in Fort Loudon, Pa.; and National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.
He is survived by three daughters, Deena Kendall of Crystal Springs, Pa., Dennette Kendall of Burnt Cabins, Pa., and Lori Rohm; three sisters, Sharon Moore of Singapore, Andrea Berkstresser of McConnellsburg and Victoria Mishler of Massillion, Ohio; and a brother, David Kendall Jr. of Gaithersburg, Md.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Independent Baptist Church. The Rev. Tim Mishler will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, and Saturday at the church at 10 a.m. The funeral home will be open Friday from 2 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Andrea Berkstresser, 395 Spruce Pine Drive, McConnellsburg, PA 17233 to help with Mr. Kendall's expenses.
Gladys H. Faust
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gladys H. Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Archie C. and Catherine B. Jones Heckman.
She was a 1946 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She retired as a secretary in 1990 after 44 years with TB Woods Sons Co. in Chambersburg.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg, and was a Sunday school teacher.
She was a member of Martha Custis Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 342 of Chambersburg; and Falling Spring Court 139 Order of Amaranth of Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Chester "Duke" Faust, whom she married
Sept. 18, 1948; a son, Mark C. Faust of Chambersburg; two sisters, Julia McNew of Fayetteville, Pa., and Celena Casseday of Chambersburg; and a grandson.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. The Revs. Kenneth L. Gibble and Donald L. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Friday at noon at the funeral home.
