MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Guy L. Born April 26, 1920, in Cove Gap, Pa., he was the son of the late Howard Spangler and Ruth Fix Spangler Ensminger. He was raised by his maternal grandmother, Sadie Fix.
His wife, Edith G. Briggs Spangler, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Dec. 30, 1999. They were married
May 18, 1946.
He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot for 33 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II with Company C, 628th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served in Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and central Europe campaigns. He received the Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead.
He was a member of Dietrich-Brechbill American Legion Post 612 of St. Thomas, Pa.; Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517; Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241, both of Mercersburg; National Association of Retired Federal Employees and AARP.
He is survived by four daughters, Trudy D. Dickerhoff and Beverly F. Funk, both of Mercersburg, Julie L. Strait of St. Thomas and Connie K. Johns of McConnellsburg; a son, Terry A. Spangler of Mercersburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a stepsister, Mary Fahrney of State Line, Pa.; three stepbrothers, Richard Spangler of Smithsburg, Clarence Spangler of Mercersburg and Ray Spangler of State Line.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Revs. Donald J. Ream and Milton W. Benny Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon, Pa., where the Honor Guard of Post 612 will perform military graveside services.
Viewing will be held Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Omar P. Sprankle
QUINCY, Pa. - Omar Preston Sprankle, 90, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 5475 Iron Bridge Road, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 5, 1909 in Zora, Pa., Liberty Township, Adams County, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Jesse Diehl Sprankle.

He attended the one room schools of Plain Hill School and Union School in the Marsh area.
He was employed in his early years at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, and then Waynesboro Nipple Works. He and his wife owned and operated the Trailer Diner on Route 16 for 30 years. He retired in 1979. He was also a carpenter.
He was a member of Wayne Heights Brethren Church, Wayne Heights, which he helped build.
He was a member of South Chapter 2977 AARP, Waynesboro and National AARP.
He is survived by a daughter, Norene M. Pugh of Waynesboro; a grandson, Stephen R. Pugh of Waynesboro; a sister, Ethel Brake of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 11 sisters and brothers and his stepmother, Irene Burger Spangler.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Harold W. Walton will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth A. Kaiser

She was a registered nurse employed by Lutheran Social Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Michael P. Kaiser, whom she married
Oct. 17, 1959; a daughter, Dorothy M. Allison of Elkins Park, Pa.; three sons, Michael Kaiser Jr. and Stephen Kaiser, both of Chambersburg, and Paul Kaiser of Greencastle, Pa.; her parents, Edward and Dorothy E. Orr Kingma of Wayne, N.J.; a brother, Edward Kingma of Medway, Mass.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Luis Rodriquez will officiate. It was her request that her body be donated to medical research.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro, and volunteered in the church's nursery.
She is survived by her husband, Paul E. Patterson, whom she marred Nov. 27, 1947; two sisters, Daisy Mulligan of Greencastle, Pa., and Celia Goldizer of Clearville, Pa.; three brothers, Glentis Valentine and Max Valentine, both of Clearville, and Kenneth Valentine of Everett, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Orpha Valentine and Dolly Valentine, and a brother, Robert Valentine.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 623 N. Grant St. Ex., Waynesboro. The Rev. John F. Huff will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christ Church. The Rev. Monsignor Thomas Brenner will be celebrant. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., with a Christian Wake service at 8 p.m.
