WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Alice May Varner, 98, of Hoover House, 227 W. Main St., and formerly of 609 E. Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Feb. 16, 1902, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Emma Shultz Shafer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie D. Varner Sr., in 1963. They were married
March 31, 1928.
She was a homemaker. She had worked at Waynesboro Knitting Mill and Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing Co. in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.
She was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by a son, Archie D. Varner Jr. of Waynesboro; a sister, Eleanor Hoffman of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister; and four brothers.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor K. Allan Mummert will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 801 Park St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Charles M. Bonner Sr.
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Charles Martin Bonner Sr., 78, of 95 Hamilton Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Nov. 16, 1921, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Leslie G. and Hattie V. McLaughlin Bonner.
His first wife, Mary Belle Heintzelman Bonner, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Oct. 9, 1971.
He was a 1940 graduate of Quincy (Pa.) High School.
He worked for York Safe and Lock Co. and for Machine Tool Co. He retired in 1984 from the production department of Landis Machine Co. after 37 years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a medic in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church.
He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Washabaugh Bonner, whom he married
June 28, 1972; a son, Charles M. Bonner Jr. of Chambersburg; a stepdaughter, Donna L. Zeis of Chambersburg; three stepsons, G.T. Edmondson of Chambersburg, G. Michael Edmondson of Raleigh, N.C., and Rodney L. Edmondson of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, Harold W. Bonner of Phoenix; two grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Marlene R. Brown Stevens; a sister, Pearl Zody; a brother, Guy L. Bonner; and a granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, 7885 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, Pa. The Rev. Donald C. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the church at 1 p.m.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
J. Seth Stine
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - J. Seth Stine, 88, of 10788 Wharf Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 12, 1911, in Shady Grove, Pa., he was the son of the late Abram and Barbara Cook Stine.
He was a graduate of Greencastle High School.
He drove a milk truck, was a dairy farmer from 1941 to 1976; then raised beef cattle.
He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle.
He was a member of Jr. O.U.A.M. Lodge 443 in Marion, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, M. Elizabeth "Betty" Grossnickle Stine, whom he married
in 1932; one son, Allen Stine of Waynesboro; two sisters, Louise Peters of Catonsville, Md., and Ada Grace of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; two brothers, Glenn Stine of Waynesboro and Harold Stine of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles A. Stine; a sister, Florence Lesher; and a brother, Norbert Stine.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. Pastor Mary C. Wehr will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday at 9 a.m.

David L. Bemisderfer
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - David L. Bemisderfer, 64, of 3758 Coseytown Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at his home.
Born March 21, 1935, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of the late Ralph and Marie Bemisderfer.
He retired after 14 years in the U.S. Air Force. He last worked as a repairman for Montgomery Ward in Hagerstown.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sandra Denais Bemisderfer, whom he married
June 6, 1967; two sons, Dwight Bemisderfer and Thomas Bemisderfer, both in the U.S. Air Force; a sister, Esther Ramsey of Fayetteville, Pa.; four grandchildren; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Bemisderfer and Samuel Bemisderfer.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. James Sollenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Thomas Branson Sr.
SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - Thomas Branson Sr., 68, of South Mountain Restoration Center, and formerly of Levittown, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at the restoration center.
Born Aug. 18, 1931, in Levittown, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary H. Branson.
He was a 1948 graduate of Levittown High School.
He was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas Branson Jr. of Newtown, Pa., and Ron Branson of Levittown.
A memorial service will be held in Levittown this weekend at the convenience of the family. Cremains will be buried in Bucks County, Pa., at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa.
