CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lois E. Gift, 83, of The Quarters at The Shook, and formerly of 1014 Orchard Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Jan. 14, 1917, in Augusta, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles E. and Ada Bucklew Grapes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson R. Gift, in 1980.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School; and attended nursing school.
She retired as a teacher's aide from Lincoln Intermediate Unit in Chambersburg. Previously, she was employed by Chambersburg Area School District in the cafeteria of Chambersburg Middle School. Earlier, she ran the snack bar at Chambersburg Hospital.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Chambersburg.
She is survived by a sister, Frazier Finniff of Chambersburg; a granddaughter, Carol Gift of Newburg, Pa.; two grandsons, Brad Gift of Korea and Donald L. Gift II of Chambersburg; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Gift.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Revs. Kenneth Gibble and Donald L. Baker will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

Earl F. Witt
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Earl Freeman "Bud" Witt, 79, of 26 Warwick Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Manor Care.
Born July 23, 1920, in Seattle, he was the son of the late Nelson E. and Floretta Burdett Witt.
He retired from L.E.A.D. in February 1980 as chief of the Facilities Division.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, he flew B-25 bombers.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member, past national president and treasurer of Academy of Model Aeronautics. He was a Fellow of and voted into the Academy of Model Aeronautics Hall of Fame. He was past president of Experimental Aircraft Association 36 of Hagerstown.
He was instrumental in developing the Chambersburg Airport, where he was a flight instructor for 15 years after his retirement from Letterkenny.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maxine Simms Witt; two daughters, Jane Field of Sacramento, Calif. and Penny Witt of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Dorothy Ellis of Palo Alto, Calif.; a half-brother, Joseph Burdett of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; three granddaughters; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma.
There will be no viewing.

Lawrence C. Kendall
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lawrence Charles Kendall, 57, of 14740 Molly Pitcher Highway, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital in Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Feb. 16, 1942, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Mamie I. Hiser Kendall.
He was a 1960 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
He was employed by M.S. Johnston Co. as service and parts manager for 33 years. He was a church bus driver for Maranatha Brethren Church for 10 years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and treasurer of the trustees.
He was a member of Pine Ridge Hunt Club; president of Hagerstown Junior Basketball League; manager and coach of the Little League Baseball and Senior League Baseball; and past president of Western Enterprise Engine Co. 4.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Kendall; a daughter, Nicole Houser of Hagerstown; two sons, Shane Kendall and Keith Kendall, both of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Denise Brown of Hagerstown; two stepsons, Brion Dick of Hagerstown and Jeffrey Dick of Fort Meade, Md.; four sisters, Phyllis Main of Hagerstown, Delores Witmer of Greencastle, Margaret Graham of Townsend, Del., and Segerna Davis of Mercersburg, Pa.; a brother, Steven Kendall of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. The Revs. Robert S. Barton and Gary Zook will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 712 Church St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
Grace W. Jones
KIRKLAND, Wash. - Grace Winifred "Freddie" Guss Jones, 79, of Kirkland, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Overlake Medical Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1919, in Northport, Long Island, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Uriah A. and Lulu Grace Foreman Guss.
She was a 1937 graduate of Mercersburg (Pa.) High School; and a 1950 graduate of Eastern Washington University with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She earned a master of arts degree in librarianship from the University of Washington in 1966.
She worked as a librarian for Seattle public libraries and at Meany Junior High School and Garfield High School in the Seattle school district, retiring in 1980. She was presented the Golden Acorn Award by the mayor of Seattle for public service.
She was member of Inglewood Presbyterian Church.
She was member of Washington Education Association; and involved with Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her husband, Jack L. Jones, whom she married
Jan. 14, 1951; a daughter, Rebecca S. Takacs; a son, Jeff L. Jones; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Thomas; and a brother, Conrad F. Guss.
Memorial services were held at Green's Funeral Home Sunset Chapel in Bellevue, Wash.
John P. Winter
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - John P. Winter, 67, of Flickerville Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
He was the son of the late William Gordon and Margaret Grace Minter Winter. He was raised by his grandparents, Samuel and Laura Winter.
He was a 1950 graduate of Warfordsburg High School.
He worked for PennDOT for 27 years, retiring as a certified welder in 1993.
He was a member of Cedar Grove Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, I. June Strait Winter, whom he married
March 15, 1957; three daughters, Jacqueline L. Kerns of Hancock, Jenny L. Mellott of Warfordsburg, and Judy L. Stotler of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a son, Ronald John Winter of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mary Eleanor Barnhart of Chambersburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, B. Jan Mellott; a son, Donald James Winter; a brother, Sammy Winter; and a granddaughter.
At his request, he was cremated.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 3013 Pleasant Grove Road, Warfordsburg. The Rev. Denver A. Plessinger will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cedar Grove Christian Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.
Frank A. Calabrese
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Frank Anthony Calabrese, 58, of 13294 Old Mill Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 9, 1942, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of Theodore Calabrese of Hoboken, N.J., and the late Patricia Coppola Calabrese.
He graduated in 1958 from A.J. Demarest High School in Hoboken, N.J.; and in 1962 from Steven's Institute of Technology with a bachelor of engineering degree. He received a master's of science degree in engineering from Penn State University in 1969.
He was employed by Martin Marietta, Orlando, Fla.; General Electric in Philadelphia; and Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro.
He founded and managed Industrial Automation Technologies Inc. engineering firm.
He held patents in the fields of communications and infrared optics. His patent for Data Relay, issued in 1980, was the forerunner for modern serial data multiplexing.
He was a member of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
He was a member of Institute of Electrical Electronic Engineers; Steven's Institute Alumni Association; B.P.O. Elks Lodge 731, Waynesboro; Penn State Alumni Association, and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hassloch Calabrese, whom he married
Sept. 7, 1963; a daughter, Jennifer S. Calabrese of Pittsburgh; a son, David C. Calabrese of Silver Spring, Md.; three sisters, Ann Marie Angelone of Weehawken, N.J., Carmela Resnick of Scotch Plains, N.J., and Elizabeth Cofone of Westfield, N.J.; a brother, Anthony Calabrese of Old Bridge, N.J.; a grandson, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church, Blue Ridge Summit. The Rev. Michael T. Bittner will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Fairfield.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with a wake service at 8 p.m.
