GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Clement D. "Deano" Allshouse, 75, of 2170 Buchanan Trail West, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Nov. 7, 1924, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Jennings D. and Olive G. Peterman Allshouse.
He attended Johnstown schools.
He served with the Civil Conservation Corps.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the European Theater.
He was employed by U.S. Steel in Johnstown. He then worked at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown as a machinist, retiring in May 1986.
He was a member of Grove Avenue United Methodist Church, Moxham, Pa.
He was a member of Bulldog Credit Union Local 171; Richland American Legion Post 849, Johnstown; and Harry D. Ziegler VWF Post 6319, Greencastle.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis J. Wentz Allshouse; a daughter, Deanna L. Yeager of Fannettsburg, Pa.; a son, C. Dean Allshouse of Greencastle; two sisters, Janet Messaros and Jane Allshouse, both of Johnstown; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Allshouse and two infant sisters; and two brothers, Wilbert Allshouse and Herbert A. Allshouse.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Marlin A. Neil will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, with military services by Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by Harry D. Ziegler VFW.
Joseph S. Stevenson Jr.
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Joseph Samuel "Joe" Stevenson Jr., 85, of 9448 Meadowbrook Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at his home.
Born May 6, 1914, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Dr. Joseph S. Sr. and Verda Lesher Stevenson.
He graduated cum laude from Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, Pa. in 1932. He graduated from Cornell University in 1936 with a bachelor of science degree in administrative engineering.
He worked in the engineering department at Frick Co., Waynesboro. In 1944 he took over the operation of two farms north of Waynesboro.
He was on the Board of Directors at Frick Co., until 1959 when it became General Waterworks Corp., then served on its Interim Board of Officers until 1969; he was on the Citizen's National Bank & Trust Co. Board of Directors and named Director Emeritus in 1981. He was a founder of the Jaycees in Waynesboro; and was a member and president of Waynesboro Recreation Center.
He was elected to Waynesboro Town Council in 1944 and served as president from 1950 to 1952. During his tenure, the council organized the Waynesboro Water Authority which issued the municipal bonds that financed the Antietam Impounding Dam. He was instrumental in the acquisition of land and building of Memorial Park in Waynesboro. He served on the park board for many years.
He was on the YMCA board of trustees and was president for nine years. He was a member of Green Hill Cemetery Board of Directors and was president for Mt. View Cemetery of Ringgold for 25 years and acted as secretary and treasurer.
He was a member of Unitarian-Universalist Church of St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 731 of Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kathryn Steiner Stevenson; a daughter, Jane Lesher Rule of Annandale, Va.; a son, Samuel Steiner Stevenson of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waynesboro YMCA, 810 E. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Betty M. Witmer
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Betty M. Deshong Witmer, 71, of 12716 Binkley Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at her home.
Born May 30, 1928, in Harrisonville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Dick D. and Ethel Mae Deshong Deshong.
She attended Greencastle Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Emmert F. Witmer, whom she married
Oct. 21, 1947; a daughter, Cheryl D. Witmer of Chambersburg, Pa.; four sons, David F. Witmer, Dennis W. Witmer and James D. Witmer, all of Greencastle, and Jeffrey L. Witmer of Mountain City, Tenn.; a sister, Dolly Miller of Greencastle; three brothers, Elmer Deshong and Dale Deshong, both of Greencastle, and John Deshong of Mercersburg; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son; four brothers and sisters.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Greencastle Church of God, 4480 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle. The Rev. Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Church Cemetery, near Bino, Pa.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.
Laura M. Martin

Born Aug. 3, 1928, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Harrison Cramer.
She was employed by J. Schoenenman Co., Chambersburg, as a presser and seamstress for 16 years.
She attended Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville.
She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons.
She is survived by her husband, Richard K. Martin Sr., whom she married
April 5, 1947; two daughters, Cheryl Louise Statler of Fayetteville and Judith Ann Herr of Lititz, Pa.; two sons, Richard Kinter Martin Jr. and Robert Clinton Martin, both of Fayetteville; four sisters, Dorothy Oliver, Carlean Rohrabuagh and Nancy Houser, all of Chambersburg, and Pauline Banzhoff of Williamsport; three brothers, Paul Cramer, Thomas Cramer and Earl Cramer, all of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers, and a granddaughter.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 61 W. Main St., Fayetteville. The Revs. Scott R. Ogden and John L. Rauch will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Evelyn M. Dumpman
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Evelyn M. She was a former member of McCartney Post 232 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Dry Run.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne Hockenberry of Spring Run, Pa.; a son, C. Arthur Dumpman of Bonita Springs, Fla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. The Rev. Alfred Bashore will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Lewistown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run; and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home.
