MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Alfred E. "Gene" Hawk, 79, of 12057 Two Top Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 16, 1920, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late James D. and Mary Nicklas Hawk.
He was employed at DeRose Industries, Chambersburg, as an electrician; and later at Southeran Cross of Mercersburg. He retired in 1981.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II.
He attended Two Top Fellowship Church near Mercersburg.
He was a member of Harry Lackhove American Legion Post 517 of Mercersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel L. Zeger Hawk, whom he married
in 1941; a daughter, Mary L. Smith of Mercersburg; a son, James M. Hawk of Mercersburg; a sister, Frances Crum of Okeechobee, Fla.; two brothers, Dewey Hawk and Robert Hawk, both of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Monn; a son, Alfred E. Hawk Jr.; and a grandson.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Revs. Paul A. Martin and Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Norman H. Rosenberry
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Norman H. Rosenberry, 74, of 5336 Mountain Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 30, 1925, in Ft. Loudon, Pa., he was the son of the late Norman Rosenberry and Gail Rosenberry Rex.
He attended Lemasters High School.
He was employed at Letterkenny Post Engineers, Chambersburg, for 27 years, retiring in 1981.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II.
He attended Mt. Olivet United Brethren Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Chambersburg; Wesley-Yeager Post 606 American Legion, Ft. Loudon; and George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel L. Rosenberry, whom he married
June 30, 1973; a daughter, Carleen Stultz of Mercersburg, Pa.; four stepdaughters, Bonnie Howard, Barbara Kiser, Donna Bender and Rose Wilson, all of Chambersburg; two sisters, Phyllis Hege and Janice Williams, both of Chambersburg; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor Rosenberry and Creston Rosenberry.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stan McCammon will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lewis C. Myers
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Lewis C. Myers, 88, of 27 W. Born March 24, 1911, near Cearfoss, he was the son of the late Scott and Lillie Barncord Myers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Anna M. Keller Myers, in 1986.
He attended the one-room school in Worleytown, Pa.
He worked at Arthur's Dairy in Waynesboro, Pa., for 27 years, delivering milk door-to-door in the Greencastle area. Earlier, he was a weigher and sampler at Hershey Creamery Plant in Greencastle, a position he held for more than 20 years. During his retirement, he was a courier for Citizen's National Bank of Southern Pennsylvania.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greencastle.
He was a member of Greencastle Senior Center and a social member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 in Greencastle.
He is survived by two daughters, Betty M. Hartman of Greencastle and Peggy A. Hays of State Line, Pa.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. in Greencastle. Pastor Stacey A. Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul D. Bayer
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Paul D. Bayer, 66, of 10329 Wharf Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at his home.
Born Oct. 26, 1933, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Daniel G. and Rachel Garber Bayer.
He was a 1951 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
He worked in construction for 37 years, as a self-employed carpenter and for various constractors. Prior to retiring in 1995, he worked for Gene Bayer Contractors for eight years.
He was a member of Old German Baptist Church, Antietam Congregation, near Waynesboro.
He was a member of Pennsylvania Builders Association.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Rohrer Bayer, whom he married
April 20, 1956; four daughters, Susan M. Jamison of Oakdale, Calif., Shirley J. Bayer of Hagerstown, Diane L. Mohler of Covington, Ohio, and Janet E. Hess of Chambersburg, Pa.; one son, Vernon C. Bayer of Waynesboro; five sisters, Elizabeth Bayer, Julie Benedict and Esther Bayer, all of Waynesboro, Nora Boone of Rocky Mount, Va., and Frances King of Hagerstown; five brothers, John Bayer of Chambersburg, Harlan Bayer of Waynesboro, Daniel Bayer of Roanoke, Va., Samuel Bayer of Hagerstown, and Kenneth Bayer of Wirtz, Va.; 12 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Bayer.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, for the family, and at 10 a.m. Friday at Old German Baptist Church, Antietam Congregation, off Pa. 316 near Waynesboro. Ministers Willis Hess, George Mason, Alfred Brubaker and Daren Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
George L. Freese
GRANBY, Mass. - George L. Freese, 89, of Granby, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at MeadowBrook of Granby.
Born Nov. 21, 1910, in Brookfield, Mass., he was the son of the late Earl and Florence Lamb Freese.
He graduated in 1932 from University of New Hampshire with an engineering degree.
He was employed as a design engineer with Veeder-Root, retiring from Sterling Radiator in Westfield, Mass.
He was a member of Salmon Brook Historical Society; Connecticut Trolley Museum in East Windsor; volunteered for the Granby Drummer; and was a 10-gallon-plus Red Cross blood donor.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Grace DeFronzo Chase Freese; two daughters, Susan Gregory of Granby, and Kathryn Freese of State Line, Pa.; three stepsons, James Chase and John Chase, both of Granby, and Michael Chase of Wade, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Dolores Mannix of Chatham, N.Y.; one brother, John Freese of Charlestown, N.H., and Largo, Fla.; three grandsons; nine stepgrandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nephews and niece.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Peloubet and Elizabeth Pigeon.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hayes-Huling and Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. The Rev. Toby Quirk will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
