CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Michael Alfred Iorio, 93, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of Sun City, Calif., and Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at the nursing center.
Born Dec. 30, 1906, in Wilmerding, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and Christine Cocco Iorio.
His first wife, Phyllis Podavano Iorio, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1968; his second wife, Geraldine F. Kirtsinger Iorio, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1997.
He graduated from New Castle High School; and New Castle Business College.
He was a farmer and milkman while in New Castle, Pa.; and a milkman in Torrance, Calif.
He is survived by three daughters, Christine Mosher of Torrance, Norma Whittaker of Menifee, Calif. and Loretta Millon of Greencastle; two sons, Michael Iorio of Cherry Valley, Calif., and Charles Iorio of Leetsdale, Pa.; a sister, Sue Gallace of Cedar City, Ga.; a brother, Patrick Iorio of New Castle; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Greencastle Baptist Church, 2377 Buchanan Trail West in Greencastle. Pastor David Rasmussen will officiate.
Arrangements are by Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.
Buford F. Mentzer Jr.
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Buford F. Mentzer Jr., 72, of 312 W. 6th St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born Dec. 22, 1927, in Washington Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Buford F. Sr. and Florence McLaughlin Mentzer.
He was a 1945 graduate of Washington Township High School. He attended Dartmouth College and Gettysburg Seminary.
Since 1958, he owned and operated Electric Motor Service on West 6th Street in Waynesboro. Earlier, he worked for Bob Shockey; and had worked for Site R.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro and sang in church choirs.
He was a former Scout master of Troop 19 at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Mentzer, whom he married
June 4, 1947; four daughters, Ilene Shadle of Chambersburg, Pa., JoAnn Wile, Louise McLucas and Jean Mowen all of Waynesboro; two sons, John F. Mentzer and C. William Mentzer, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Frances Valentine; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Alameda Mentzer.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Church of the Brethren, 117 W. Church St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. Prudence B. Yelinek will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Visitation will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the church.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Betty M. Born Dec. 18, 1918, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late David W. and Fannie Herron Barnhart.

She was a 1937 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She was a member of Mount Vernon Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Shippensburg, Pa., and formerly served as pianist.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Rife of Detroit, Deborah J. Starliper and Caroline Stine, both of Chambersburg; two sons, David L. Harmon and Daniel W. Harmon, both of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Prentice Harmon; and two brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Reuben C. Coldsmith will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Grossberg of Chambersburg; a son, Robert C. Johncour of Falls Church, Va.; a sister, Violet Bisberg of Peekskill, N.Y.; a brother, Kent Gindlesperger of Seminole, Fla.; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg. The Rev. Steven D. Dorsett will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg; and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born July 16, 1920, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Dora Saunders Elser.
She was a former member of King Street United Brethren Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Nellie E. Birdsall of Huntingdon, Ind., and Mary E. Gamble of Chambersburg; three brothers, John W. Elser and Robert W. Elser, both of Chambersburg, and the Rev. Theodore Elser of Frankford, Del.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
