Born Aug. 7, 1924, in Greene Township, near Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edward C. and Minnie B. Brown West.

Feb. 27, 1953.
She was a 1943 graduate from Chambersburg High School, Chambersburg, Pa.
She was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, as an office manager from 1943 to 1954. She then became a homemaker and assisted her husband with the family business, The Hut Tavern and Restaurant, Rouzerville, Pa. She retired in 1995.
She is survived by two daughters, Marsha F. Witte and T. Michelle Flood, both of Waynesboro; three sons, Randy L. Flood of Fayetteville, Bradley L. Flood and Keith L. Flood, both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Isabell Sprow of Fayetteville and Mary Ann McGee of Chambersburg; three brothers, William West of Hanover, Pa., James West and Richard West, both of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl West, Julia West and Betty Walters and a brother, Guyer West.
Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Daniel H. Kelchner will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Presbyterian Cemetery, Neelyton, Pa.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Mary C. Park
MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - Mary Cathryne Park, 81, of Merritt Island, and Dry Run, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. J. Theodore and Lucie Coons Park.
She was a graduate from Chester (Pa.) High School. She then earned a bachelor of arts degree from University of Pennsylvania. She also received a master of arts and Ph.D, graduating in 1947. She was the recipient of numerous scholarships, including the Frances F. Bennett Scholarship in English.
She was a professor of communications at Brevard Community College and was honored in 1999 for 40 years of service. In 1988, she was awarded the William H. Meardy Award (U.S. Teacher of the Year in Community Colleges). The Dr. Mary Cathryne Park Classroom building was dedicated to her in 1987. She began her career at Catawba College, N.C., and included positions at Stetson University and Florida Southern College.
She was an Accreditation Consultant for Southern Association and Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and governor of Brevard Community College Foundation. She chaired the Florida Academy of Sciences for 4 years and was a member of Space and Missile Pioneers.
As a member of numerous educational honor societies, she was named in many publications honoring outstanding people. She contributed articles and papers to a variety of professional journals.
She served as director of the Florida Cancer Society; Brevard County YMCA; Cocoa, Fla., Salvation Army; Brevard County Community Services Council; and Brevard County Council of Aging. She was a Governor Appointee to Brevard County Historical Commission and Florida Commission of History.
She often entertained Kiwanis Clubs in Florida and Pennsylvania as a pianist. She also provided guidance and support for the Valley Community Medical Center in Dry Run.
She was a member of Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run, Pa.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run, Pa. The Rev. Alice Meloy will officiate. Private burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run, Pa. or to the Brevard Community College Foundation, Inc., Mary Cathryne Park Scholarship Endowment, c/o Brevard Community College, Cocoa Campus, 1519 Clearlake Road, Cocoa, FL 329122.

Charles H. Sturgeon
OLDSMAR, Fla. - Charles H. Sturgeon, Ph.D., 85, of 304 Meadow Lane and Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at his Florida home.
Born April 29, 1914, in Connellsville, Pa., he was the son of the late William H. and Marie R. Hood Sturgeon.
He received law degrees from Midwestern universities.
He specialized in commerce law for major corporations. He also taught law courses at Hagerstown Junior College for 10 years.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle and an associate member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clearwater, Fla.
He received many honors for his work in commerce law. He was past president of the association of commerce practitioners. He received the American Airlines Award for Advancement of Air Freight in the United States. He was the first American to be made an associate of the Institute of Transport of Great Britain.
He was appointed to the Department of Defense Emergency Management Reserve by President Johnson and by Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter. He retired as member emeritus of that post in 1981.
He was a member and past president of Greencastle Rotary Club, and was the club's second Paul Harris Fellow. He was presented the Rotary International Foundation Crystal Award and was named a benefactor in 1995.
He was a member of BPOE 731 of Waynesboro, Pa., Sons of the American Revolution, Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion of Greencastle, and Forty and Eight.
He is survived by his wife, Irene J. Sunram Sturgeon, whom he married
July 16, 1948; a daughter, Ruth S. Sturgeon Krise of Akron, Ohio; two sons, John C. Sturgeon of Isle of Man, British Isles, and William F. Sturgeon of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Gilbert K. Good II of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St. in Greencastle. The Rev. Martin Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Foundation of the Rotary Clubs International, c/o Robert Schemmerling, President of Greencastle Rotary Club, 41 S. Antrim Way, Greencastle, PA 17225.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. The Rev. Herb Busick will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

She was first employed as a seamstress by Waynesboro Sportswear in Waynesboro. Later, she was a seamstress at J. Schoneman Co. in Chambersburg for more than 30 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ in Ringgold.
She is survived by her husband, Harry George "Pete" Reed, whom she married
April 16, 1949; a son, Robert E. Reed of Waynesboro; a sister, Evelyn Minnich of Waynesboro; three brothers, Paul Gunder, Ronald "Ed" Gunder and Robert Gunder, all of Waynesboro; a granddaughter; a grandson; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Gunder Jr. and Rodney "Gene" Gunder.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor Donald E. Conley and Pastor Richard Daughtridge will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
