QUINCY, Pa. - The Rev. Robert H. Karalfa, 86, of Quincy Village, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Quincy United Methodist Home.
Born July 10, 1913, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Stephen L. and Sarah Kidd Karalfa.
He was a 1932 graduate of Altoona High School; and a 1936 graduate of Williamsport Dickinson Junior College. He was a 1941 graduate of Gettysburg College, with an A.B. degree; and Wesley Methodist Theological Seminary in 1944, receiving an S.T.B. degree and an S.T.M. degree.
He entered the ministry of the United Methodist Church in 1938.
He served Fayetteville Calvary United Methodist Charge; Rouzerville United Methodist Charge; Bakerton United Methodist Charge; Altoona Jaggard United Methodist Church; New Bloomfield United Methodist Charge; St. Mary's United Methodist Church; Fawn Grove United Methodist Church; Woolrich United Methodist Church; and Altoona First United Methodist Church. In 1979, he served one year at St. John's United Methodist Church in Chambersburg. He retired after 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Helen K. Burkholder Karalfa, whom he married
May 14, 1942; two sons, Dennis R. Karalfa of Elizabethtown, Pa., and Barry L. Karalfa of Clarkston, Wash.; four granddaughters; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Karalfa; and an infant brother.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 125 Park Ave. in Chambersburg, Pa. The Rev. Robert E. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Benevolent Care Fund of Quincy United Methodist Home, P.O. Box 128, Quincy, PA 17247.

Sheldon E. Waters
McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Sheldon Eugene Waters, 64, of Extended Care Unit of the Fulton County Medical Center, and formerly of Burnt Cabins, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at the medical center.
Born June 7, 1935, in Huntingdon County, Pa., he was the son of Porter Eugene and Goldie Marie Mentzer Waters of Burnt Cabins.
He worked for Exxon Corp. as a station attendant on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for 28 years.
He was a member of Burnt Cabins United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, LaRue M. Orr Waters, whom he married
June 26, 1954; a daughter, Bonnie K. Newman of Burnt Cabins; two sons, Randy E. Waters and Rodney D. Waters, both of Burnt Cabins; two sisters, Joyce Mathern and Judy K. Waters, both of Burnt Cabins; a brother, Gary L. Waters of Fannettsburg, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Waters and Donald Waters.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home in Hustontown, Pa. The Revs. Belvy White and Robert Benson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Shade Gap, Pa.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Catherine S. Burns
QUINCY VILLAGE, Pa. - Catherine "Kitty" Steeves Burns, 80, of Quincy Village, and formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 25, 1919, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Seymour and Josephine Anna Lazarowicz Steeves.
She was a 1936 graduate of Plainfield Academy in Plainfield, N.J.; and a 1940 graduate of Columbia Junior College in Takoma Park, Md.
She worked for 10 years as a legal secretary with the Bureau of National Affairs and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, both in Washington, D.C.; then as secretary and treasurer of John Nevins Andrews Elementary School in Takoma Park. She retired in 1981 as recorder for Columbia Union College in Takoma Park.
She was a member of Berkeley Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, G. Richard Burns; two daughters, Margaret Anne Burns of Loma Linda, Calif., and Bonnie Burns Wilbur of Burtonsville, Md.; three sisters, Grace Grant of Berkeley Springs, Margaret Roy of Hendersonville, N.C., and Alyce Ryals Wilburn of Hendersonville, N.C.; six nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers and a niece.
Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Berkeley Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, U.S. 522 South, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Frank Bondurant will officiate.
Private burial will be in Duckwall Church Cemetery in Morgan County, W.Va.

He farmed in the Mercersburg area; had hauled milk; and drove a truck for Valley Protein, from which he retired.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by his wife, Freda F. Weaver, whom he married
April 20, 1957; two daughters, Joann Williams of Greenvillage, Pa., and Barbara Straley of Dalton, Ga.; three sons, Richard Straley of Chambersburg, Roy W. Straley of Greencastle, Pa., and Randy Straley of St. Thomas, Pa.; three sisters, Mary Deshong of Greencastle, Hazel Long of Lemasters and Phyllis Henry of Hustontown, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West in St. Thomas. The Rev. Lloyd Gingrich will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Lemasters.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Sunday from 2 p.m.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Pearl E. She was a 1937 graduate of Quincy High School.
She was employed as a press operator by Stanley Co. in Chambersburg, then farmed with her husband. She was a school bus driver, and she and her husband owned buses and vans. She was a driver until 1989.
She and her husband owned Baer's Repair.
She was a member of Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Grindstone Hill in Chambersburg.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Baer of Greencastle; two sisters, Mae Gift of Markes, Pa., and Helen Freeman of Zullinger, Pa.; a brother, Hubert Socks Jr. of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
Service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Solomon's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. Pastors Michael E. Allewein and Wilbur F. Besecker will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Edna M. Statler Etter, whom he married
May 28, 1942; a daughter, Barbara J. Getis of Rye, N.Y.; three sisters, Mayetta Elliott and Norma Mummert, both of Chambersburg, and Klee Jane Young of Mercersburg, Pa.; a brother, Willis Etter of Zullinger, Pa.; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Zeger and Geraldine Etter; and two brothers, Renis Etter and Anson Etter.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. in Greencastle. The Rev. Kenneth L. Gibble will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
