Born June 29, 1944, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late John Gelwix Pogue and Mary B. Carey Pogue Eshelman.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg Area High School.
She was employed at Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe in Chambersburg for nine years; and previously worked at the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg.
She was a member of Freedom In Christ Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband, Donald F. John Sr., whom she married
Nov. 6, 1958; a daughter, Angela R. John-Wood of Hope Mills, N.C.; two sons, Donald F. John Jr., of Mont Alto, Pa., and David A. John of Chambersburg; four sisters, Erma C. Miller of Fayetteville, Pa., Frances E. Verdier of Birmingham, Ala., Mary M. Eyer of Fleetwood, Pa., and Linda L. Carey of Chambersburg; a brother, the Rev. George R. Pogue Sr. of Chambersburg; caregiver Patsy Seylar of Chambersburg; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Freedom In Christ Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. George R. Pogue Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg; and Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Freedom In Christ Church Youth Ministry, c/o Donald Engle, 4042 Sycamore Grove Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Robert W. Rosenberry
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Robert W. Rosenberry, 53, of 223 W. Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at his home.
Born March 5, 1946, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of Robert T. Rosenberry of Chambersburg and the late Della B. Showalter Rosenberry.
He had done construction work most of his life, retiring in 1990.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Marine Corps League; Hume, McNeil, Byers AMVETS Post 224; Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion; a member of 40 et 8 Club, where he helped with the fishing rodeo; and a member of Veterans of Vietnam War Post 41, all of Chambersburg, and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Funk Rosenberry, whom he married
, Dec. 22, 1972; three sons, Robert W. Rosenberry II of Hagerstown, Randall W. Rosenberry and Ronald W. Rosenberry, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Rose Castaneda and Debra J. Shew, both of Chambersburg; two brothers, Ray L. Rosenberry of Shippensburg, Pa., and Richard G. Rosenberry of Chambersburg; and two grandsons.
There will be no service.
It was his wish that his body be donated for scientific research through the Humanity Gifts Registry of Pennsylvania.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg.
Esther A. Smith

Born Aug. 20, 1918, in McConnellsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Axie Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson B. Smith.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Cedar Street Mennonite Church, Chambersburg.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Landingham of Weaver, Ala., and Fay Killian of Hickory, N.C.; a son, Ronald D. Smith of St. Thomas, Pa.; a sister, Rosie Jones of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Revs. Aden K. Diller and Darrell Baer will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mary P. Skinner
DRY RUN, Pa. - Mary P. Skinner, 93, a resident of Aprontree Personal Care Home, and formerly of 18885 Main St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at the home.
Born Sept. 16, 1906, in Dry Run, she was the daughter of the late McCinley J. and Bertha F. Alexander Skinner.
She was a 1924 graduate of the former Dry Run High School in Dry Run. She attended Penn State University and later graduated from the former Shippensburg Normal School, Shippensburg, Pa.
She was a school teacher, retiring after 44 years. She had taught school in Dry Run, and in Fannett-Metal School District, where she had founded the school's chapter of the National Honor Society.
She was a member of Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run, Pa., where she taught Sunday School for many years.
She was a member of Daughter's of the American Revolution; Daughter's of the American Colonists; member and past president of Franklin County Teacher's Association; member of Franklin County Historical Society; Fannett-Metal Fire Company, Dry Run; and she was one of the original supporters of the founding of the Val-Med Center, Dry Run.
She is survived by a companion of over 40 years, George "Tiny" Steck of Dry Run.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run. The Rev. Marlin A. Neil will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Fannett Township, Pa.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fannett Metal Fire and Ambulance Company, P.O. Box 51, Dry Run, PA 17220 or to Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, c/o Mrs. Dorothy Cambell, Dry Run, PA 17220.

Richard J. Startzman
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Richard Joseph Startzman, 72, of 6361 Chambersburg Road, and formerly of Williamsport, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Piney Mountain Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 1, 1928, in Leitersburg, he was the son of the late Max W. Startzman and Malissa J. Ensminger Startzman Kees.
He was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, Hagerstown, as a city mail carrier for 20 years. He then was employed at Internal Revenue Service, Martinsburg, W.Va., as a computer operator until his retirement. Following that, he became a realtor for Ted Brindle Associates, John R. Oliver Company and Clover Realty Company.
He also developed Paramount Manor at Paramount in the 1960's where he designed and built many of the homes there. He also owned a Laundromat at Berkeley Plaza Shopping Center in Martinsburg.
He was veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Transportation Command.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; AARP; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Loyal Order of the Moose; and Greater Hagerstown Board of Realtors.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Startzman of Williamsport; a daughter, Linda Siverling of Hagerstown; two sons, Bryan Startzman of Hagerstown and Thomas Startzman of Henderson, Nev.; two sisters, Mary Helen Main of Chambersburg, Pa., and Shirley Ann Perry of Annapolis, Md.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
