WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Clyde M. Mentzer, 89, of 925 Mentzer Gap Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 12, 1910, in Blue Rock, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Addie Cauffman Mentzer.
He attended Gap School.
He was a bus driver for Gearhart Bus Lines in Waynesboro and Potomac Motor Lines in Hagerstown. Prior to retiring in 1975, he worked for Quincy Township in the maintenance department.
He attended Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, near Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Verna M. Mentzer Mentzer, whom he married
Oct. 12, 1929; two daughters, Lois M. Stains of Waynesboro and C. Maxine Pentz of Waynesboro; two sisters, Hazel Heefner, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and Pauline Diller, a resident of Cauffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Meadows; a son, Clyde William Mentzer; two sisters, Anna Stoops Bomberger and Ruth Blubaugh; and four brothers, Robert Mentzer, Charles Mentzer, Clark Mentzer and Glenn Mentzer.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. Donald L. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, 7885 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Gladys B. Strite
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gladys B. Shafer Strite, 100, of Hoover House, 227 W. Main St., and formerly of 2306 Grandview Drive, Maugansville, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Hoover House.
Born Feb. 13, 1899, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. and Emma J. Shultz Shafer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos W. Strite Sr., in 1985. They were married
April 17, 1917.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Olive Mennonite Church in Maugansville.
She is survived by two daughters, Miriam Eby of Chambersburg, Pa. and Esther Showalter of Hagerstown; four sons, Harold R. Strite and Walter L. Strite, both of Waynesboro, Amos W. Strite Jr. of Chambersburg and Glenn R. Strite of Maugansville; two sisters, Alice Varner of Waynesboro and Eleanor Hoffman of Chambersburg; 26 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Merle Strite; a sister, Annie Minnich; three brothers, Russell Shafer, Ralph Shafer and Raymond Shafer; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Mount Olive Mennonite Church in Maugansville. Bishop Glenn E. Martin, and Pastors Ira M. Martin and Arlin Eby will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Mennonite Church Cemetery in Maugansville.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. in Greencastle, Pa.; and Monday at 9 a.m. at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Robert E. Fries
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Robert E. Born Sept. 29, 1934, near Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Helen Carbaugh Fries.
He attended Quincy schools.
He was employed by Wayne Tool Co. in Waynesboro as a machinist; and then at Knouse Foods in Orrtanna, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Frances E. Moritz Fries, whom he married
July 13, 1974; an aunt; and cousins.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dolores J. Kendall

Born Jan. 5, 1931, in Fairview, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Gilson Benjamin and Hazel Athalinda Rosenberger Bakner.
She attended Quincy High School.
She was employed at Waynesboro Knitting Mill in Waynesboro; Mont Alto State Tree Nursery; Carroll Shoe Factory in Mont Alto, Pa.; and prior to retiring in 1980, she worked as a machine operator at Freeman Shoe Factory in Waynesboro.
She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church in Tomstown, Pa., and a member of Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, William Russell Kendall, whom she married
Oct. 8, 1948; two daughters, Kathy L. Spessard of Smithsburg and Kim D. Roberts of Waynesboro; a son, Steven R. Kendall of Fayetteville, Pa.; a sister, Geraldine Fay Currey of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Richard Lewis.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor Donald L. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Thomas J. Enright
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Thomas J. Enright, 75, of 1069 Lincoln Way East, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at his home.
Born July 14, 1924, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John J. and Margaret T. Flynn Enright.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna S. Myers Hartranft Enright, in 1998.
He was a graduate of Villanova University in Philadelphia.
He was an electronics engineer at TB Woods and Sons Co. in Chambersburg, Pa., retiring in 1987.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of AARP; a volunteer of Chambersburg Toy Mission; American Red Cross; Franklin County Shelter for the Homeless; and Habitat for Humanity. He prepared income tax for the elderly through AARP in Chambersburg.
He is survived by a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Kruger of Fayetteville, Pa.; two stepsons, Robert O. Hartranft of Chambersburg and Donald W. Hartranft of Derwood, Md.; a sister, Agnes T. Sheridan of Philadelphia; eight step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia L. Durham.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.
At his request, there will be no viewing.
