Born April 14, 1913, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Laura Geddes Monighan.
Her husband, Raymond A. Pyle, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Nov. 3, 1991. They were married
May 10, 1948.
She had been employed as a presser by Waynesboro Laundry and by Connie's Sportswear in Waynesboro; as a dishwasher by Famous Lunch in Waynesboro; and did seasonal work for Knouse Foods in Orrtanna, Pa. She retired in 1978.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Jane Breedlove of Waynesboro; one sister, Nellie Deardorff of Fairfield, Pa.; one brother, Melvin Monighan of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Alda Brunner and Charlotte Caldwell; and a brother, William Monighan.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Prudence B. Yelinek will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Viola R. Hoffman
MCCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Viola Rebecca Hoffman, 89, of the long-term care unit of Franklin County Medical Center, and formerly of HCR 75, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in the long-term care unit.
Born Feb. 23, 1910, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ida Mae Wilson Miller.
Her husband, Norman L. Hoffman, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Aug. 24, 1995.
She was a homemaker.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mae M. Martin and Martha G. Curfman, both of Three Springs, Pa., Almeda G. Schooley of Mercersburg, Pa., Maxine F. Newman and Mary E. Golden, both of Waterfall, Pa., Connie E. Shives and Debra D. DeShong, both of McConnellsburg; six brothers, Carl J. Hoffman and Max R. Hoffman, both of Three Springs, Randy L. Hoffman of Waterfall, Evan C. Hoffman, Ronnie E. Hoffman and Willis L. Hoffman, all of McConnellsburg; 32 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald D. Hoffman; two grandchildren; two sisters, and four brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, Pa. The Revs. Charles Rhodes and Donald Bard will officiate. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Three Springs.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until the services on Wednesday.
Mary E. Burkett
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary Ellen Burkett, 83, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing Home, and formerly of 10849 Burkett Road, Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital. She had lived with her daughter Anna R. Todd, of Greencastle, for four years prior to entering the nursing home.
Born May 24, 1916, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late McCullan and Bessie Stine Mullenix.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. Burkett, whom she married
Oct. 14, 1934.
She worked in her early life at the Canning Factory and then for Bear Packing Co., both in Greencastle, and then for Stanley Co. of Chambersburg, where she retired in 1973.
She was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church of Greencastle.
She is survived by two daughters, Anna R. Todd of Greencastle and Darlene E. Cassner of Hagerstown; two sisters, Nellie Timmons of Greencastle and Anna Parson of Fannettsburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia United Brethren Church Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Born Nov. 27, 1915, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late John L. and Grace Over Geiman.
He was a firefighter at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, for more than 29 years. He was formerly employed at Woolen Mill as an ice deliveryman and for Carl Flohr Construction Co.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, where he served as an usher.
He was a life member of Charles M. Nitterhouse VWF Post 1599, Chambersburg, a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees; Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223, Shippensburg, Pa.; Hume-McNeal-Byers Amvets Post 224, Chambersburg; Cumberland Valley Antique and Machinery Association; Franklin County Fireman's Association and a charter member of Mall Walkers, Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Waneta M. McCans Geiman, whom he married
Oct. 14, 1939; a daughter, Vickie Lee Wenger of Chambersburg; a son, Gary E. Geiman of St. Thomas, Pa.; two sisters, Esther Bender of Chambersburg and Merriam Reineman of Fayetteville, Pa.; a brother, Lewis Geiman of Chambersburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Military graveside services will be conducted by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VWF Honor Guard.

Robert E. Pike
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Robert E. Born March 28, 1937, in Montgomery Township, near Upton, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel R. and Jessie O. Beard Pike.
He attended Welsh Run School.
He served with the National Guard in Waynesboro for two years.
He was employed at Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, Pa., in the maintenance department, then worked at Landis Tool Co. of Waynesboro as a machine operator, then for the Borough of Greencastle. Prior to retiring on disability in May 1999, he worked at Frick Co., Waynesboro, for 28 years, first in the foundry and then as a forklift operator.
He is survived by his wife of over 44 years, Mary R. Timmons Pike; six daughters, Catherine R. Smith of Chambersburg, Beverly E. Barger, Carina S. Pike, and Mary Ann Pike, all of Greencastle, Wanda J. Keefer of McConnellsburg, Pa., and Miranda M. McCurdy of St. Thomas, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, an aunt and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. R. LeRoy Eberly will officiate. Burial will be in Montgomery Church Cemetery, Montgomery Township.

Edith G. Spangler
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Edith G. She was employed by Tuscarora School District as a cafeteria worker for 20 years. She also was a caregiver for senior citizens in the Mercersburg area.
She was a member of Charlestown United Methodist Church of Cove Gap, Pa., where she was a member of the Women's Society and a former Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Guy L. Spangler, whom she married
May 18, 1946; four daughters, Trudy D. Dickerhoff and Beverly F. Funk, both of Mercersburg, Julie L. Strait of St. Thomas, Pa., and Connie K. Johns of McConnellsburg, Pa.; a son, Terry A. Spangler of Mercersburg; two sisters, Vera Fritz of Mercersburg and Sue Pittman of Lemasters, Pa.; four brothers, John Briggs of Greencastle, Pa., Guy Briggs, Larry Briggs and Barry Briggs, all of Mercersburg; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc. 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Donald J. Ream and the Rev. Milton W. Benny, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon, Pa.
Viewing will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
