Born June 20, 1922, in Montgomery Township, Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Newton I. and Mary Clopper Rubeck.

She was a member of Blairs Valley Church of God.

She is survived by three daughters, Velma M. Stewart and Shirley M. Myers, both of Mercersburg, and Nancy M. Mummert of Big Pool; two sons, Dale F. Fritz and Edison E. Fritz, both of Mercersburg; one sister, Jessie Rubeck of Mercersburg; one brother, Nevin Rubeck of Mercersburg; 15 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Paul A. Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Two Top Fellowship Church, c/o Roger Musselman, 11812 Two Top Road, Mercersburg, PA 17236.

William R. Thompson

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - William R. Thompson, 80, of 12537 Mount Pleasant Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Feb. 4, 1919, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of the late George J. and Mary Hull Thompson.

He was a farmer as a young man. He later worked at the former Sealtest Milk Receiving Plant of Mercersburg and Mercersburg Academy. He retired in 1984 from Corning Glass of Greencastle, Pa.

He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Mercersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Metcalfe Thompson, whom he married Dec. 25, 1948; one daughter, Faye L. Dudding of Plano, Texas; one son, Robert J. Thompson of Chambersburg; two sisters, Dorothy Statler and Miriam Rife, both of Greencastle, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ. The Rev. Milton W. Benny, Jr. and the Rev. W. David Kent will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg and Thursday one hour prior to the services in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 3, Mercersburg, PA 17236.

Dean C. Grove

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Dean C. Grove, 68, of 11446 Eigenbrode Lane, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in his home.

Born Jan. 25, 1931, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Walter Y. and Marion P. Pfisterer Grove.

He was a 1948 graduate of Waynesboro High School and a 1967 graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Turf Grass Management.

He was employed at a number of nurseries in the area. He then was maintenance supervisor of greens during the construction of Penn National Golf Course and later was a self-employed carpenter contractor and painter in the area and worked for various contractors. Prior to retiring in 1997, he worked at Waynesboro Country Club in golf course maintenance. He also grew and sold Christmas trees for many years.

He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean War.

He was a member of Waynesboro Country Club and National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of more than 47 years, Shirley K. Bumbaugh Grove; one daughter, Ellen G. Rock of Waynesboro; one son, Patrick W. Grove of Waynesboro; three sisters, Joyce G. Ceyler of Patagonia, Ariz., Eunice G. Statler of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Angela Grove-Weagly of Waynesboro; one brother, David Y. Grove of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kelly D. Grove.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. George E. Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Rev. George S. Widmyer

LAHMANSVILLE, Pa. - The Rev. George S. Widmyer, 84, of Lahmansville, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at his home.

Born Nov. 1, 1915, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ernest and Daisy Stottler Widmyer.

His first wife, Lowell Elaine Bartlett Widmyer, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1966.

He graduated from Shenandoah College and Bridgewater College.

He was a retired Methodist minister, serving in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland for 42 years.

He served the South Branch EUB Charge from 1943 to 1948, including Lahmansville United Methodist Church where he was serving on the administrative board. During his retirement he filled various pulpits and maintained retirement status with the Virginia United Methodist Conference.

He was a member of the Grant County Ministerial Association, past president of AARP, and past lieutenant governor of West Virginia District 5 Kiwanis International. He was a member of Patterson Creek Ruritan Club and remained active with Burlington United Family Services and American Red Cross Grant County Chapter.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Parker Snyder Widmyer, whom he married Aug. 19, 1979; two daughters, Sharon P. Dayton of Laurel, Md., and Cynda C. Widmyer of Dallas; two sons, George Widmyer of Uniontown, Ohio, and Mark L. Widmyer of Cumberland, Md.; three stepdaughters, Barbara Snyder, Carolyn Goldizen and Jo Ann Harman, all of Lahmansville; two sisters, Thelma Lewter of College Park, Md., and Helen Perry of Chambersburg, Pa.; two brothers, Harry Widmyer of Venus, Fla., and James Widmyer of Stephens City, Va.; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Ray Widmyer.

Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Lahmansville United Methodist Church. Pastor Rebecca L. Bennett, and the Revs. Lee B. Sheaffer and Arthur E. Grant will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, today from 2 to 6 p.m.

Additional services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery in Berkeley Springs.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Burlington United Methodist Family Services, 145 Southern Drive, Keyser, WV 26726.

Elton H. Strunk

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Elton H. He was born July 3, 1915, in Wyomissing, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alverda M. Conrad Strunk, in 1997.

He retired from Boyertown Body Works in Boyertown, Pa.

He was a member of Gilbertsville Fire Company in Gilbertsville, Pa.; Boyertown Hook and Ladder Company in Boyertown; and Teamsters Union.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Strunk at home and Ann Seyler of Chambersburg; a son, Larry E. Strunk of Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepson, Russell Weller Jr. of Oley, Pa.; a sister, Mae Strunk of Fleetwood, Pa.; three grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

Service and burial will be private.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg.

Paul J. Zitterbart Jr.

STATE LINE, Pa. - Paul John Zitterbart Jr., 68, of State Line, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 13, 1931, in Latrobe, Pa., he was the son of the late Paul John and Marguerite Pearson Zitterbart Sr.

He was employed by Pangborn Corp., retiring in 1991.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Latrobe, Pa.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378; and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Joyce M. Zitterbart; and a sister, Lavonne Ruffner of Tucson, Ariz.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. John C. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown.
