CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jim K. Brinkley, 79, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of 216 N. Carlisle St. in Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born May 28, 1920, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late James H. and Mary Peiffer Brinkley.

He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg; and had worked as a professional baseball scout.

A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he served during World War II.

He was affiliated with the Open Door Church in Chambersburg.

He was a member of Waynesboro Fire Department.

It was his request that there be no service or viewing. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg, Pa.

Arrangements are by Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home in Greencastle.

Josephine DeSarro

SCRANTON, Pa. - Josephine Siphron DeSarro, 89, of South Mountain Restoration Center, and formerly of Scranton and Clarks Summit, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at South Mountain Restoration Center.

Born April 6, 1910, in Throop, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Nora Siphron.

She was a graduate of Throop High School.

She had been employed as a stenographer for the Lackawanna County Court System.

She was of the Roman Catholic faith.

She is survived by a son, Frank DeSarro Jr. of Moosic, Pa.; a sister, Frances Fitzgerald of Throop; and a brother, Joseph Siphron of Brazil.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium of South Mountain Restoration Center. The Rev. Joseph Carolin will be celebrant.

Burial will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.

Visitation will be today at 2 p.m. at the restoration center.

Arrangements are by Lochstampfor Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Pa.

Josephine Mayer

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Josephine "Jo" Mayer, 78, of Manor Care Health Services, 1070 Stouffer Ave., and formerly of Liberty Court, East Liberty Street, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Laura Koontz Mayer.

She was a 1938 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She was a clerk at J.J. Newberry department store in Chambersburg, retiring in 1960.

She was a member of Second Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Kramer of College Park, Md., and Anna Hoover of Chambersburg; a brother, Robert R. Mayer of Fayetteville, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Dayton.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro, Pa.

Woodrow C. Mellott

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Woodrow C. Mellott, 81, of 9596 Mercersburg Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at his home.

Born Nov. 5, 1918, near Mercersburg, he was the son of the late Earl H. and Pauline Bryan Mellott.

He was employed at Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown; and was a self-employed mason from 1960 until retirement in 1983.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by his wife, Floe Crist Mellott, whom he married Dec. 21, 1938; one son, Gerald W. Mellott of Mercersburg; one sister, Margaret Gorman of Mercersburg; one brother, Scottie R. Mellott of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers, and two grandsons.

It was his request that his body be cremated.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Samuel L. Sheffler will officiate. Burial in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bernadine E. Kunkle

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Bernadine E. Kunkle, 88, of McConnellsburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg.

Born Oct. 22, 1911, in McConnellsburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ida Rotz Lininger.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold F. Fox, in 1969; and her second husband, Roy D. Kunkle, in 1992.

She worked as a seamstress for Stanley Manufacturing.

She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church in McConnellsburg.

She was a member of American Legion Post 517 in Mercersburg, Pa.; Mercersburg Moose Club; Mercersburg VFW; and McConnellsburg American Legion Post 561.

She is survived by five daughters, Beverly A. Doyle and Luella Shew, both of McConnellsburg, Sandy L. Poole of Chambersburg, Pa., Connie L. Fox of Fort Loudon, Pa., and Debra Fox of York Haven, Pa.; three sons, Harold Fox and Richard Fox, both of Mercersburg, and Gordon L. Fox of McConnellsburg; a sister, Helen Lininger of McConnellsburg; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Lininger; two sons, Terry Fox and Paul F. Fox; a sister, Pauline Keyser; and six brothers, Clifford Lininger, Ralph Lininger, Paul Lininger, Theodore Lininger, Roy Lininger and Harry Lininger.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. 2nd St. in McConnellsburg. The Rev. Roy Brake will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hazel L. Hollingsworth

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Hazel L. Breneman Hollingsworth, 69, of 214-B Elder Ave., and formerly of 258 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Carlisle (Pa.) Hospital.

Born May 13, 1930, in Quincy, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Carrie Wetzel Breneman.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She was employed by Waynesboro Shoe Factory as a machine operator. She then was a seamstress for area clothing manufacturers.

She attended Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church in Five Forks, Pa.

She was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 Ladies Auxiliary in Waynesboro.

She is survived by one son, Charles L. Hollingsworth of Lincolnton, N.C.; five sisters, Elsie Brechbill of Portage, Ind., Hilda Sanders of Gettysburg, Pa., Mamie Ray of Mont Alto, Pa., and Anne Weicht and Helen Walker, both of Waynesboro; two brothers, Clarence Breneman of Chambersburg, Pa., and William Breneman of Waynesboro; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Brown, Edna Guyer, Elizabeth Austin and Kate Gochenauer; one brother, Edward Breneman; and two infant brothers.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor William Shank will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

There will be no viewing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
