WAYNESBORO, Pa. - John A. "Solly" Sollenberger, 62, of 9173 Tomstown Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, due to a massive heart attack.
Born Nov. 14, 1937, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of Margaret L. Harmon Isenberger of Chambersburg, Pa., and the late Paul V. Sollenberger.
He was a 1955 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.
Following his discharge, he worked as a baggage handler for Eastern Airlines for 10 years and then worked at the Hagerstown Airport. He took over his father's contracting business in 1973, where he worked at the time of his death.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 731, Order of the Owls Nest 1073, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, and Eagles Club, Inc., all of Waynesboro. He was also a member of Pennsylvania Association of Builders and Franklin County Association of Builders, National AARP and a member of Rouzerville Ruritan Club, where he served as zone governor for 8 years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Dolores A. Harmon Sollenberger, whom he married
in 1962; one daughter, Tina A. Staley of Marion, Pa.; one son, Troy E. Sollenberger of Waynesboro; one sister, Phyllis Debrick of Waynesboro; two brothers, Paul V. Sollenberger Jr. of Texas and Robert Sollenberger of Chambersburg; one grandson; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

Bethea M. Deneen
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Bethea Maye Crist Layton Deneen, 83, of 2411 McCleary Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Seidle Memorial Hospital, Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Born Nov. 1, 1916, in McConnellsburg, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Bundy Oliver and Rachel Catherine Golden Crist.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Glenwood Layton, in 1983 and by her second husband, James Lewis Deneen, in 1997.
She was a 1934 graduate of Southern Fulton High School.
She had worked at Locke Inc., Baltimore. She was the first telephone operator for the Wardfordsburg, Needmore, Pa. area for Breezewood Telephone Company in 1940. She had worked for Howard Johnson, Sideling Hill Plaza, as a gift shop manager and hostess for 15 years. She also owned and operated Layton General Store at Sipes Mill for 5 years.
She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Needmore, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. She also attended Buck Valley Christian Church in Warfordsburg, where she was as member of the Adult Sunday School Class and Bible study group.
She is survived by two sons, Darrel Richard Layton of Dillsburg, Pa., Gary Wendell Layton of McCellandtown, Pa.; one stepson, R. Lubrent Deneen of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Satricia A. Woodal of Warfordsburg; two sisters, Ruby F. Peck of Needmore and Vesta I. Myers of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jean Manning; one sister, Hilda E. Crist; one brother, Melvin W. Crist and one granddaughter, Sheri Lynne Layton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Needmore. The Rev. Charles Gummon and the Rev. Clint Bahrenburg will officiate. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery, Needmore.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonville, Pa.
Thomas R. Swope
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Thomas R. Swope, 75, of 69 Sanibel Lane, and formerly of Orchard Circle and South Ridge Ave., Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Falling Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg where he was a resident for 4 days.
Born March 22, 1924, in Kauffman Station, Pa., he was the son of the late John G. and Bertha Sowers Swope.
He was a 1942 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended the former Chambersburg Business College.
In his earlier years, he was manager of former Greencastle Ice and Cold Storage. Then he worked as controller for former Hagerstown Rubber Company and Central Chemical Company of Hagerstown. He last worked in Chambersburg as controller for Franklin County, for 16 years. He also operated a private tax preparation service.
He was a member for more than 50 years of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, former Sunday School superintendent and Board of Trustees member and sang in the church choir for many years.
He was a member and past master of Mount Pisgah Masonic Lodge 443 F. & A.M. of Greencastle, member of Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Temple of Harrisburg. He was a member and past president of Kauffman Ruritan Club and a member of Board of Associates of the Citizens National Bank of Southern Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June E. Horst Swope; one daughter, Barbara A. Sellers Kuhn of Fayetteville, Pa.; one son, Vaughn L. Swope of Houston; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; one stepgreat-grandchild; nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Martin, Jane Angle and Helen Meister; two brothers, Samuel Swope and Paul Swope.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Rawley Boone will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. The Mount Pisgah Masonic Lodge will hold a masonic service at 9 p.m.

Kathryn G. Myers

Born Sept. 19, 1916, in South Hampton Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late G. Clyde and Bessie Stine Myers.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She had been a cook and waitress in the restaurant business, retiring in 1981.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Culbertson of Chambersburg and Barry Myers of Newville, Pa.; two sisters, Stella Wadel of Chambersburg and Ann Dile of Scotland, Pa.; one brother, Donald Myers of Shippensburg, Pa.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Myers, Leroy Myers and Elder Myers.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Cemetery, 990 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
At the family's request, there will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg.
Raymond H. McBride
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Raymond H. Born Oct. 2, 1930, in Higginsville, W.Va., be was the son of the late Thelmar H. and Lula V. Davis McBride.
He attended school at Union School near Romney, W.Va.
He did orchard work in West Virginia and cut pulp wood for various sawmills.
He is survived by one sister, Maudie Jane Smith of Rouzerville, Pa.; a cousin, Linda Flohr of Rouzerville, who helped take care of him; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William J. McBride and Irvin L. McBride.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Eugene M. Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Branch Mount Baptist Cemetery, Three Churches, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joseph L. Bock II
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Joseph L. Bock II, 46, of 35 Philadelphia Ave., Waynesboro, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born May 5, 1953, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Joseph L. Sr. and Joyce Geesaman Bock of Waynesboro.
He was a 1971 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
After graduation he moved to Alaska and worked for his uncle, Clarence Jeffers, in his laundry service. He worked for the Borough of Mont Alto in the late 1970's and in the early 1980's. In the mid-1980's he owned and operated D and B Construction Company, Waynesboro. He was currently disabled with health problems.
He attended Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of A.T.H. & L. Fire Company and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, both of Waynesboro. He also assisted with the fireworks for 12 years.
He was one of the first Tri-State champion wrestlers from Waynesboro. He was Outstanding Senior Wrestler in 1971. He coached Waynesboro Elementary wrestling in the mid-1970's and he also coached Waynesboro Yankees Pee-Wee baseball team in 1988 and 1989.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three daughters, Holly M. Bock, Hannah M. Bock and Heidi M. Bock, all of Chambersburg, Pa.; one son, Hunter M. Bock of Chambersburg; three sisters, Laura J. Tressler and Elizabeth S. Stainbrook, both of Waynesboro and Nancy J. Rouzer of Greencastle, Pa.; three brothers, Huber D. Bock and Michael W. Bock, both of Waynesboro and Thomas M. Bock of North Carolina; one aunt; two uncles; one grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Prue Yelinek will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph Bock II Family, c/o Joseph Bock Sr., 11426 Orchard Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.
