Born Nov. 8, 1916, in Knobsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James Chalmers and Mary Jane Henry Appleby.
Her husband, Eugene Covert, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1967. They were married
in June 1934.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Clear Ridge United Methodist Church, North Clear Ridge Road, Hustontown.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Covert of Hustontown; one son, Randy Covert of Hustontown; and one brother, Clarence Appleby of Greencastle, Pa.
She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Clear Ridge United Methodist Church, North Clear Ridge Road, Hustontown. Pastor George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Ridge Cemetery.
There will be no viewing; however, friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown.
John H. Minnick Jr.
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - John Harper Minnick Jr., 90, of 13790 Molly Pitcher Highway, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at his home.
Born Aug. 14, 1909, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Minnick Sr.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Minnick, in 1987.
He was an electrician for the University of Florida, and later for the University of Florida Hospital.
He served in the U.S. National Guard of Pennsylvania.
He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his second wife, Angela Cox Napotnik Minnick, whom he married
in November 1997; a sister, Ruth Stout of Frederick, Md.; a brother, Fulton Minnick of Gainesville, Fla.; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel R. Minnick and William H. Minnick; and a sister.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, Pa.
Arrangements are by Miller-Grove Funeral Home in Greencastle.
John E. Peiffer Jr.
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - John E. Peiffer Jr., 80, of 13509 Old Mill Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born April 29, 1919, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John Edward and Bertha Irene Horst Peiffer.
He was a 1938 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He worked for his father, who had a wholesale and retail poultry and egg business. In 1947 he took over the ownership of Peiffer's Poultry and Egg business. The business closed in 1973. He then worked for Grove Manufacturing Co. in Shady Grove, Pa., retiring in 1984.
He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was one of the first persons in Waynesboro to have a television set and one of the first users of the Class D citizens band radios in Waynesboro.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, Waynesboro, the Waynesboro Fish and Game Association and the AARP.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, G. Virginia Eigenbrode Peiffer; a daughter, Melodie A. Bingaman of Waynesboro; three sons, John E. Peiffer III of Exton, Pa., Dennis L. Peiffer of Inwood, W.Va., and Barry L. Peiffer of Ocean Fort, N.J.; two sisters, Ethel McCarry of Port Arthur, Texas, and Thelma Haywood of Hart, Mich.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen C. Mummert, on Nov. 22, 1999.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Ronald Fearer will officiate. Private graveside services will be held Saturday. The Rev. Richard A. Seaks will officiate.
Per Mr. Peiffer's request, there will be no public viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
David L. Fitzgerald
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - David L. Fitzgerald, 46, of 2074 Lincoln Way East, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, while hunting with friends in Romney, W.Va.
Born Aug. 25, 1953, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Phyllis Reeder Fitzgerald of Chambersburg and the late Wilbur L. Fitzgerald.
He was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as a mechanic.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.
He attended Scotland United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Chambersburg American Legion Post 46, Marine Corps League of Chambersburg, VFW.
He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Jean Fitzgerald and Desi Fitzgerald, both of Chambersburg; a sister, Sue Spyker of Fayetteville, Pa.; a niece' and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Scotland United Methodist Church, Scotland, Pa. The Revs. Charles Kind and James Herman will officiate. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Sunday one hour prior to the services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Dorothy M. Rogers

Born March 31, 1927, in Escanaba, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Alfonze and Justina Laplum.
She worked as an office custodian.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.
She was a member of Military Order of the Purple Heart; Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14 in Beloit, Wis.; a volunteer driver for the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Madison, Wis.; and a member of AMVETS 224 Ladies Auxiliary in Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Everil C. Rogers; four sons, Leo Mitchell of Chambersburg, Bob Mitchell of Sobeloit, Ill., Everett Lindermen of Marshfield, Wis., and Roy Mitchell; a sister, Matilda Holzhauer of Dearborn, Mich.; three brothers, Bill Laplum of Menominee, Mich., John Laplum of Escanaba and Frances Laplum;andfive grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Mitchell; a sister, Evelyn Banks; and a brother, Leo Laplum.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201. The Rev. Robert Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open Friday from 2 p.m.; and Saturday at 1 p.m.
