BRISTOL, Pa. - William W. "Pappy" Dent, 84, of Bristol and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at his home.
Born June 6, 1915, in Elgood, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fred and Delphia Thompson Dent.
He retired from U.S. Steel Fairless Works in Fairless Hills, Pa. Earlier, he was employed part time at the Lumber Yard and was affiliated with Pappy's Christmas Trees, both in Martinsburg.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He attended Primitive Baptist Church.
He was a member of Monroe Lodge 77 AF & AM in Union, W.Va.; and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Dodd Dent; a daughter, Sandra K. Glazer of Bensalem, Pa.; two sons, William F. Dent of Mount Holly, N.J., and Barton Fox of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Lucy Atkins of Union, W.Va.; a brother, Herbert Dent of Martinsburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. Dwayne Fletcher will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with military graveside services by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW, and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

QUINCY, Pa. - Doris I. Sayer Cover, 88, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, formerly of 830 Mountain View Road, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born March 2, 1911, in Flint, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Ellen Lamb Sayer.
Her husband, John A. Cover, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sept. 24, 1989.
She graduated from high school in Michigan and also from Michigan Normal School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro.
She also was a member of Waynesboro Country Club, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 731 Ladies Auxiliary and Mount Vernon Chapter 398 Order of the Eastern Star, all of Waynesboro.
She is survived by two nieces, Cheryl G. Bateman of Milburn, Fla., and Tammy K. Balser of Virginia; one nephew, Dr. C. Edward Eden of Morris Plains, N.J.; one great-niece; and three great-nephews.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The Rev. Charles B. Jessen will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 2001 N. Front St., Bldg. 2, Suite 321, Harrisburg, PA 17102 or to Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro, 105 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Arrangements are being handled by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
Kenneth C. Dile
QUINCY, Pa. - Kenneth C. "Ken" Dile, 88, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home since August 1995 and formerly of 20 Constitution Ave., Mont Alto, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Jan. 8, 1911, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Orlando H. and Barbara Hess Dile.
He was a 1928 graduate of Chambersburg High School. He attended Shippensburg State Normal School for two years.
He was employed by Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Mont Alto Sanitarium and Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown. He was employed by Mont Alto campus of Pennsylvania State University, retiring in 1976.
He was a lifelong member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Mont Alto, serving as Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher and youth leader lay delegate to church annual conferences.
He also served as vice president of the Franklin County Sunday School Association, and served on the Mont Alto Borough Council, Mont Alto School Board, where he was president, and Waynesboro Area School Board.
He played baseball in the Tri-State League and was manager of the Mont Alto team. He served as business manager of Caledonia Little League, helped to organize Cal-Quin Little League, and managed Mont Alto Little League and Pony League teams.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta P. Heefner Dile, whom he married
Nov. 21, 1931; a daughter, Carolyn D. Poffenberger of Waynesboro; a sister, Gladys M. Jones of Fayetteville; a brother, Paul O. Dile of Bristol, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Mary Dile, Floretta Clepper, Alma Small, Jesse Group, Pauline Kauffman, Anna DeYoung and Marcella Sprenkle; and three brothers, Bruce Dile, Edgar Dile and Robert Dile.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 9 Park St. in Mont Alto. Pastor David L. Deatrich and the Rev. D. John H. Ness will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mont Alto.
The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Clyde W. Born March 14, 1929, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Clyde W. Shearer Sr. and Margaret Engle Shearer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie L. Ott Shearer.
He attended school in the Waynesboro School District.
He was employed by Pryor's Tire Service in Waynesboro. Prior to his retirement in the late 1970s, he was employed as a machine operator at Waynesboro Knitting Mill.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, both in Waynesboro.
He is survived by three daughters, Sue C. Wise of Gettysburg, Pa., Jean M. Coffey of St. Thomas, Pa., and Barbara A. Sanders of Fayetteville, Pa.; four sons, Clyde W. Shearer III, Vincent E. Shearer and Michael L. Shearer, all of Waynesboro, and Gary L. Shearer of Chambersburg, Pa.; five sisters, Margaret Holtry of California, Betty J. Monn of Waynesboro, Barbara Shearer of Selinsgrove, Pa., Ruth Felver of Salina, Ohio, and Katherine Johns of Greencastle, Pa.; one brother, Daniel Shearer of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Shearer; one brother, James Shearer; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Chaplain Ken Wenger will officiate. Burial will be in Brown's Hill Cemetery, Antrim Township, Pa.
The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Born May 12, 1908, in Knobsville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Margaret C. Hamil Kelso.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harrison Ramsey, in 1932, and her second husband, William C. Miller, in 1980.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Rockhill Mennonite Church in McConnellsburg.
She is survived by five daughters, Helen McMillian of Alabama, Norma Wilkerson of Ohio, Wilma Runk of Willow Hill, Pa., Helen Banzhoff of Chambersburg, Pa., and Virginia Wadel of Orrstown; four stepdaughters, Mary Sipes and Ruth Garner, both of Hagerstown, Betty Kuhn of Chambersburg and Grace Sipes of Needmore, Pa.; three sons, John Miller of Willow Hill, and Roy Miller and Charles Miller, both of McConnellsburg; two stepsons, William Miller Jr. of Baltimore and George Miller of Delaware; a sister, Ivy Fraker of Fort Littleton, Pa.; 49 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ramsey.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rockhill Mennonite Church in McConnellsburg. Pastor Jerry Roth and Pastor Lynn Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg; and Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the church. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Monday from 2 to 9 p.m.
