QUINCY, Pa. - The Rev. Clinton D. Zimmerman, 89, of Box 128, Apt. C-3, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Quincy United Methodist Home.
Born Aug. 10, 1910, in Penbrook, Pa., he was the son of the late Dewitt C. and Anne M. Bowman Zimmerman.
He was a 1929 graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, a 1941 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, a 1945 graduate of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio (Master of Divinity) and a 1965 graduate of Temple University's Theological School having received a Master of Sacred Theology degree.
He was a retired minister with the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference having served in many various Methodist churches throughout Eastern Pennsylvania for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve "Patty" Frehn Zimmerman; one daughter, Avis A. Knoll of Lebanon, Pa.; one son, Clinton D. Zimmerman, Jr. of Philadelphia; two brothers, Richard B. Zimmerman of Carlisle, Pa., and Rev. Robert S. Zimmerman of Lancaster, Pa.; one granddaughter, three great-grandsons and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Esther M. Shelly.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, Pa. The Rev. Robert S. Zimmerman and the Rev. Daniel Dirk will officiate. Burial will be in East Harrisburg Cemetery, 2260 Herr St., Harrisburg, Pa.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

James L. Gamble
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - James L. "Red" Gamble, 86, formerly of Scenic Drive, Shippensburg, and McCleary Drive, Chambersburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Shippensburg Health Care Center.
Born Oct. 11, 1912, in Fannettsburg, Metal Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Harriet Fleagle Gamble.
He was a 1930 graduate of the former Metal Township Vocational High School.
Since 1934, he was employed by the former Pennsylvania Railroad, retiring in 1974 from Conrail.
He attended Orrstown United Brethren Church and Sunday school.
He was a member of National Association of Retired Persons, and Upper Strasburg International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Flagle Gamble, a resident of Outlook Pointe in Shippensburg; one son, Alan D. Gamble of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Esther Hoover of Upper Strasburg, Pa., and Eola Constantine of Lancaster, Pa.; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg. The Rev. Robert P. Conway will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Greene Township, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Viola D. Markle
HANOVER, Pa. - Viola D. Markle, 85, of Hanover, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Hanover Hospital.
Born April 27, 1914, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Gusford Gordon.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School and The Chambersburg Business School.
She worked as a department head for Stanley Co. in Chambersburg for numerous years.
She was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover.
She was a member and past president of Penn Township Lioness Club.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Emory H. Markle; one son, Howard L. Markle of Hanover; one brother, Raymond Gordon of Hagerstown; and two grandsons.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 129 Charles St., Hanover. The Rev. Eric B. Stenman will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Cemetery in York, Pa.
Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorial donations may be made to The York Blind Center, 1380 Spahn Ave., York, PA 17403; or to Dollars for Scholars Program of South Western High School, 225 Bowman Road, Hanover, PA 17331.

Richard L. Mackey
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Richard L. Mackey, 56, of 19 Oregon St., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at his home.
Born June 19, 1943, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Donald E. and Ethel Keyser Mackey.
He was a 1961 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg.
He was a former employee of the former Fry Stone & Coal Co. in Mercersburg and also had worked at Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Pa. For the past 33 years he was employed by D.L. Martin Co. in Mercersburg, retiring in June 1999 due to ill health.
He was a member of Welsh Run Church of the Brethren in Welsh Run, Pa.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Janet C. Lininger Mackey, whom he married
June 16, 1974; one daughter, Amanda Lynn Mackey, at home; and one uncle, Melvin Keyser of Waynesboro.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Raynard E. Mackey.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. W. David Kent will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Lemasters, Pa.
Viewing will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gertrude C. Simpson
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Gertrude C. Simpson, 66, of 1 Hemlock Circle, and formerly of 334 S. Hackberry Drive Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1933, in St. Thomas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Luther L. and Hazel G. Walck Higgins.
Early in her life, she was employed for two years at Jefferson School in Jefferson, Ohio. Upon moving to Chambersburg, she worked for two years in the Dietary Department of Chambersburg Hospital. She also cared for elderly people in the area and worked at several area restaurants. She was last employed, for eight years, at Knouse Foods in Chambersburg.
She was of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy J. Myers, with whom she lived, and Martina L. Miller of Chambersburg; three sons, John E. Miller of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Robert B. Miller and Roger W. Miller, both of Chambersburg; a brother, Larry E. Higgins of St. Thomas; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie W. Miller.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery in St. Thomas. The Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Paul D. Gaumer
SAGINAW, Mich. - Paul D. Gaumer, 83, a resident of Saginaw Geriatric Home and formerly of 906 Strock Drive, Chambersburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper in Saginaw.
Born Sept. 15, 1916, in New Cumberland, Pa., he was the son of the late Caleb and Ella Kramer Gaumer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Fox Gaumer, in 1996.
He retired as owner and operator of Gaumer's Chassis in Chambersburg. He started the business in 1946 and retired when he sold the business in the late 1970s.
He had been an active volunteer with Chambersburg Toy Mission. He and his wife had delivered Meals-on-Wheels in the Chambersburg area.
He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by a daughter, Paulette A. Kellmurray of Saginaw; a son, Robert L. Gaumer of Belmont, Mass.; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters; and two brothers.
Service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery in New Cumberland, Pa.
Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
