CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Carroll Barton, 88, of Menno Haven and formerly of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born April 27, 1911, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Delbert B. and Myra Carroll Allen Fretz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David O. Barton, in 1990.
She graduated from Chambersburg High School and attended Oberlin College before graduating from Shippensburg State College with a bachelor of arts degree in education.
She was a school teacher for the Cumberland Valley School District in Harrisburg, Pa. She taught first, second and third grades. Formerly, she taught special education in Columbus, Ohio, and in the Chambersburg area.
She was a member of Immanuel Alliance Church in Mechanicsburg. She was a former member of Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg, where she taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout leader.
She served with the American Red Cross during World War II.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy E. Petrucelli of Conshohocken, Pa.; two sisters, Elizabeth Beaver of Chambersburg and Isabella F. Zeigler of Middletown, Pa.; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen F. Sutliff.
A memorial service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Menno Haven Chapel, 2075 Scotland Road, Chambersburg. Chaplain Vernon Isner will officiate.
Burial will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Academia Cemetery, Academia, Pa.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Carl W. Fisher
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Carl Wilson Fisher, 84, of 2824 Perliter Ave., formerly of Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.
Born Sept. 27, 1914, in Upton, Pa., he was the son of the late Fred Y. Sr. and Emma K. Wilson Fisher.
He was a 1933 graduate of Greencastle High School.
He had been employed by Frick Co. of Waynesboro, Pa. at the Easton, Pa. plant for farm machinery, then was self-employed in the carpet business in Easton. He moved to California where he owned and operated a carpet business until his retirement in 1995.
He served in the U.S. Army in Panama during the mid-1930s, then served during World War II with General Patton in Italy with U.S. Army Tank Corps.
He is survived by one sister, Miriam A. Angle of Mercersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Fred Y. Fisher Jr. and Richard L. Fisher, both of Greencastle and Ronald E. Fisher of Medford Lakes, N.J.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James W. Fisher.
Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Mary C. Wehr will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
Matilda F. Saylor
CARLISLE, Pa. - Matilda F. Saylor, 76, a resident of Manor Care Health Services and formerly of 201 E. Burd St., Shippensburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Manor Care.
Born Feb. 16, 1923, in Mont Alto, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fillmore and Mary Elizabeth Rock Saylor.
She retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.
She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Shippensburg.
She is survived by a brother, Floyd E. Saylor of Waynesboro, Pa.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. The Rev. Canon William F. Murphey and the Rev. Edward J. Peck Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 21 N. Prince St., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
Arrangements are by Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home in Shippensburg.
Robert F. Furry Sr.

Born Jan. 5, 1935, in Shippensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John C. and Nellie Clugh Furry.
He was a 1952 graduate of Shippensburg High School.
He worked in sales at Lowe's in Chambersburg. Formerly, he had worked in the foundry at T.B. Woods, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.
He was a member of Marine Corps League; Burt J. Asper Post No. 46 American Legion; and Hume-McNeal-Byers Post No. 224 Amvets, all of Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Grace W. Kyler Furry, whom he married
Aug. 29, 1953; two daughters, Susan Ann Russell and Trease Marie Mickley, both of Chambersburg; two sons, John A. Furry and Robert F. Furry Jr., both of Fayetteville, Pa.; a sister, Mary Ann Mowery of Newburg, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Donald C. Nolder will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James L. Troxell
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - James L. "Luke" Troxell, 71, of 487 E. Born Dec. 4, 1927, in Williamsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank B. and Lizzie Bechtel Troxell.
He was a 1946 graduate of Willamsburg High School.
He retired in 1986, after 36 years, from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg as a supply systems analyst.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post No. 1599 VFW in Chambersburg and was a member of the honor guard; Military Order of Cootie Pup Tent No. 72, through the VFW; and American Legion Burt J. Asper Post No. 46 in Chambersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Alice R. Riley Troxell; a daughter, Tauna T. Delmonico of Leesburg, Va.; two sons, Daniel J. Troxell of New Cumberland, Pa., and David L. Troxell of Chambersburg; a sister, Bessie Sollenberger of Williamsburg; a brother, C. Aden Troxell of Williamsburg; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chalmer Troxell and Ralph Troxell.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Arthur E. Brown will officiate.
Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with military services by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post No. 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home; and Saturday at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Military Order of Cootie, 747 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
