Born July 4, 1918, in Fayetteville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Chambers and Gertrude Kessler Spoonhour.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest S. Leeper, in 1985.

She was employed by H.J. Heinz Co. and Knouse Foods, retiring in 1982.

She was a Protestant.

She was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose No. 842, and was an officer.

She is survived by a son, Richard E. Leeper of Fayetteville; a sister, Mary Hartsock of New Castle, Pa.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

A graveside committal service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The Rev. George S. Mouer will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Building 2, Suite 321, 2001 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102; or Summitt Home Healthcare, 112 N. 7th St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Adolphus J. Rossi

QUINCY, Pa. - Adolphus J. Rossi, 88, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 203 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Quincy United Methodist Home.

Born July 29, 1911, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John B. and Catherine Mancone Rossi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanna V. "Penny" Jurgiewicz Rossi, in 1996. They were married in September 1951.

He graduated from Waynesboro High School, where he participated in football, boxing, basketball and track.

He was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps; and by Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro for 38 years. He was a real estate agent with Ausherman Brothers Real Estate in Waynesboro.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

He was a member of Waynesboro YMCA; Brothers of the Brush; Waynesboro Planning and Zoning Commission Board; Waynesboro Fish and Game Association; Always There Hook and Ladder Fire Department and a volunteer firefighter; Lanmaco Credit Union; Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro; South Chapter No. 2977 AARP; and National AARP. He was a local Boy Scout leader.

He is survived by a daughter, Joanne E. Rossi of Fairfax, Va.; a son, John A. Rossi of Apollo Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Amelia A. Rossi of South Mountain, Pa., Virginia Neigh of Perryville, Md., Edith Woodland of Wallingford, Pa., and Victoria Mitchell of Cincinnati; a brother, John Rossi of Greensburg, Pa.; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Torrine and Helen Rossi; and two brothers, Edward Rossi and Louis Rossi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Memorial donations may be made to Elder Day, 114 E. Third St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Sylvia G. Lewis

WHITTIER, Calif. - Sylvia Gladys Yingling Lewis, 80, of 11325 Telechron Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, Calif.

Born April 8, 1919, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Luther H. and Elizabeth M. Miner Yingling.

She was a 1937 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was a supervisor for General Telephone Co. in Los Angeles for 32 years.

She was a member of Yorba Linda Chapter 347 Order of the Eastern Star and Merret Temple 103 Daughters of the Nile, both in California.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Kathryn Nalley, Olive Stottlemyer, Delta Garrett, and Naomi Myers; and one brother, L. Howard Yingling.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m., at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro. Pastor Steven Amundson will officiate.

Eastern Star services will be conducted at the graveside by Mount Vernon Chapter 386 Order of the Eastern Star in Waynesboro.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.

Grace J. Zeigler

NAGS HEAD, N.C. - Grace Jones Zeigler, 97, of Britthaven Nursing Home, and formerly of Pittsburgh and Dry Run, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Health East Outer Banks Medical Center in Nags Head.

Born March 21, 1902, in Gibsonia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Francis Lindley and Sarah McGarrah Umstead.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles N. Jones; and by her second husband, K. Wayne Zeigler, in 1985.

She attended Slippery Rock Normal School and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1926.

She taught at the high school level for 40 years in the Pittsburgh area and the Fannett Metal School district.

She was a former member of Upper Path Valley United Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of Daughters of American Revolution; Farm Women of Franklin County, Group No. 11; and Path Valley Grange.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Jones of Nags Head; a stepdaughter, Lucile Cole of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three stepsons, Walter L. Zeigler of South Mountain, Pa., Donald L. Zeigler and Claire R. Zeigler, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Upper Path Valley United Presbyterian Church in Spring Run, Pa. The Rev. David L. Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery in Dry Run.

Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home in Dry Run.

Mark E. Gutshall

Born Jan. 15, 1915, in Newville, Pa., he was the son of the late Reuben and Lottie Mentzer Gutshall.

He worked for Chambersburg Implement Co. for 50 years. He built a tractor with mower and snow blower accessories and a wood splitter.

He was a member of Antrim Brethren in Christ Church in Chambersburg, and was an usher.

He was a member of AARP.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elva M. Stayman Gutshall; two daughters, Velva M. Morris of Chambersburg and Shirley A. Tate of Lewes, Del.; three sisters, Esther Singer, Edith Redcay and Vera Rice, all of Newville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Michaels and Vada Alleman; and two brothers, Glen Gutshall and Jay Gutshall.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church. The Revs. Ky Searcy and Doris Barr will officiate.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

There will be no visitation.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Brethren in Christ World Missions, c/o Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 E. Kauffman Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
