Born May 16, 1935, in Oakland, Md., he was the son of the late Jake and Alice Cooper.
He was a machine operator for Pet Ritz.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Chambersburg Open Door Church.
He is survived by his son, David Cooper of Chambersburg; and Marsha and George Shoemaker of Chambersburg, who took care of him.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg with military services by the VFW honor guard of Chambersburg. The Rev. Arthur Brown will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Hazel P. Ray
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Hazel P. Ray, 88, of Shook Home, and formerly of North Fourth Street, McConnellsburg, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born June 5, 1911, in McConnellsburg, she was the daughter of the late Albert E. and Virginia Belle Rotz College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Ray.
She was a housewife.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in McConnellsburg.
She is survived by a son, Roger Ray of Coral Springs, Fla.; a sister, Grace Anderson of McConnellsburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lee Ray; two sisters, Pearl McElhaney and Ruth Kesselring; a brother, Chester College; and a grandchild.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Henry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday at 9 a.m. The funeral home will be open Thursday from 5 p.m.
Charlie A. Fahrney
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Charlie Ann Fahrney, infant daughter of Terry L. and Lori A. Talhelm Fahrney of 49 William Penn Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died shortly after birth Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents Charles and Mary Ann Talhelm of Chambersburg; paternal grandparents Paul and Nancy Fahrney of Waynesboro, Pa.; and maternal great-grandfather Ted Talhelm of Greencastle, Pa.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Derek Paul Fahrney, in 1997.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The Rev. Michael V. Newman will officiate.
Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
Richard L. Bakner
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Richard L. Bakner, 64, of 7108 Mentzer Gap Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, in the emergency room of Waynesboro Hospital.
Born March 18, 1935, in Fairview, Pa., he was the son of the late Milford J. and Madeline P. Miller Bakner Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Maxine Wagaman Bakner, in 1992. They were marred Sept. 30, 1960.
He attended Quincy High School.
He was a director of Hess Manufacturing in Quincy, Pa., retiring in 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army Military Police. He received his GED while in the military.
He attended Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church of Waynesboro.
He was a member and business manager of Order of the Owls Nest No. 1073; Eagle's Club, both of Waynesboro; Waynesboro Fish and Game Association; and National AARP.
He is survived by two brothers, Milford Bakner Jr. of Waynesboro and Pastor Terry L. Bakner of Enola, Pa.; a niece and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry L. Bakner.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Donald L. Bender will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.
Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Building Fund, Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, 7885 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Howard F. Smith
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Howard F. Born Dec. 8, 1946, in Lewistown, Pa., he was the son of Howard F. Smith of Tampa, Fla., and the late Mary E. Suloff Smith.
He was a 1964 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was a quality control operator for Kobain Construction Co. in Chambersburg. Formerly, he worked for Charles E. Brake Co. in St. Thomas, Pa.
A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Chambersburg Club; Marine Corps League; Hume-McNeal-Byers AMVETS Post No. 224; Burt J. Asper American Legion Post No. 46; and BPO Elks No. 600, all of Chambersburg.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Robin B. Yourkavitch Smith, whom he married
Aug. 2, 1991; a daughter, Jennifer D. Holton of Vienna, Va.; a son, Derek H. Smith of Vienna; a stepdaughter, Angela M. Snider of Chambersburg; a stepson, Denny Coldsmith Jr. of Fayetteville; two sisters, Liz Shew of Scotland, Pa., and Kathy Mellott of St. Thomas; a brother, Kerry Smith of Plano, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Kevin Witter will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James B. Reamer

He is survived by three sisters, Barbara K. Strock of St. Thomas, Anne Reamer of Fairfax, Va., and Melanie L. Bard of Fort Loudon, Pa.; and three brothers, Dennis N. Reamer of Fort Loudon, David K. Reamer of Martinsburg (W.Va.) Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Dale V. Reamer of Chambersburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna R. Geyer.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas. The Rev. Dave Newell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday.
