Born June 12, 1920, in Amaranth, Pa., he was the son of the late James and Achsah M. Giffin Carson.

He attended school in Amaranth.

He was employed with Penndot in Chambersburg, Pa., retiring in 1982. In his earlier life, he had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, and Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Macedonia United Brethren Church near Greencastle, Pa.; and previously was a member of Amaranth Church of the Brethren.

He was a member of Greencastle Sportsman Association; Greencastle Senior Citizens; and National AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice A. Park Carson, whom he married Aug. 1, 1953; a daughter, Dena M. Carson of Chambersburg; a son, David R. Carson of Greencastle; a granddaughter; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy M. Carson; two sisters, Ada Carson and Irene Carson; and a brother, Sherman Carson.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road in Greencastle. Pastor Gayle Ruble Sr. and Pastor Murray Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Amaranth Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Amaranth.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle; and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church. The funeral home will be open today after 2 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Building Fund of the Macedonia United Brethren Church, 11887 Worleytown Road, Greencastle, PA 17225; or Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

John H. Keefer

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - John H. Keefer, 78, of 10562 Kasiesville Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at his home.

Born Oct. 24, 1920, in Hancock, he was the son of the late William Ralph and Mary Mills Keefer.

He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., from 1966 until he retired in 1986. He previously was employed by Fulton Radio Sales in Hancock.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of Clarence Armstrong VFW Post 6241 in Mercersburg and Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 in Clear Spring.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Hawbaker Keefer, whom he married Aug. 9, 1947; two daughters, Donna K. Runkles of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Audrey L. Golden of Mercersburg; two sons, Lawrence E. Keefer of Greencastle, Pa., and Glenn L. Keefer of Mercersburg; four sisters, Ruby Weaver of Fort Littleton, Pa., Bessie Shilling of Hagerstown, Violet Harris of Hancock and Mary Dicken of Clearville, Pa.; 13 grandchildren including Scott Keefer of Mercersburg and Travis Keefer of Martinsburg, whom he raised; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kasiesville Bible Church. The Revs. James A. Dodge and J. Herman Fisler will officiate. Burial will be in Welsh Run Brethren Cemetery.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Saturday at the church at noon.

Memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Home Care Services and designated to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.

Joseph D. Cogan

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Joseph Dean Cogan, 75, of 595 Bieglersville Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Gettysburg Hospital.

Born June 2, 1924, in Bedford County, Pa., he was the son of the late Chester Roy and Dulcie Hann Cogan.

He worked as a truck driver and previously as an electronic engineer in New Jersey.

A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. His decorations included the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

He is survived by three daughters, Diana Himes of Loysburg, Pa., Shari Kirby of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bonnie Cogan of York Springs, Pa.; one son, Marty Cogan of Winston, Ore.; one sister, Miriam Hanks of Dover, Pa.; three brothers, James Cogan of Bedford County, Pa., Al Cogan of Hagerstown and Henry Cogan; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Joseph D. Cogan Jr., Richard Eugene Cogan and Michael Chester Cogan; and one brother, Richard Cogan.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Indiantown Gap, Pa., with full military honor guard.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Lochstampfor Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Pa.

Jeanette M. Martin

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Jeanette M. Martin, 72, of St. Thomas, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 12, 1927, in Fleetwood, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Raymond and Rose Elizabeth Himmelreich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Martin Sr.

She was a graduate of Fleetwood High School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Reading, Pa.

She was a member of Open Door Church in Chambersburg, Pa., and the church's senior citizens' group.

She was a member of Pennsylvania Nurses Association and senior citizens' groups.

She is survived by two daughters, Betsy Sargent of Kiev, Ukraine, and Dianne Glaze of Hagerstown; one son, David Martin Murrysville, Pa.; Debbie and Zora Lloyd, a niece and nephew she raised; 11 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Ladies Missionary group at Open Door Church, 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Rudolph A. Fordham

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Rudolph A. Roy D. Durner

He was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot and the State Highway Department in Chambersburg.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War. He was a prisoner of war.

He is survived by one sister, Anna Shaffer of York, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mont Alto Cemetery in Mont Alto, Pa., with military services by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday at 9 a.m.

Doris L. Rodgers

QUINCY, Pa. - Doris L. Klipp Rodgers, 77, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 511 S. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born Oct. 13, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mabel Frock Klipp.

Her husband, Bernard E. Rodgers, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1993. They were married Sept. 17, 1938.

She did clerical work for the Waynesboro Shoe Factory, Mack Trucks and Fairchild Industries, both in Hagerstown, Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., Frick Co. in Waynesboro, Doubleday in Smithsburg, and Anthony Wayne Hotel in Waynesboro.

She was a Protestant.

She was a member of National AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Jo Ann Kohler of Waynesboro; one son, Rick E. Rodgers of Los Angeles; one brother, Herbert A. Klipp of Waynesboro; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; and one brother, Rex Klipp.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Harbaugh Reformed Church, Harbaugh Church Road, near Rouzerville, Pa. Chaplain Carolyn C. Belenski will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church Cemetery.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Renfrew Institute for Cultural and Environmental Studies, 1010 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
