Born Aug. 6, 1911, in Williamson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Mary Ellen Poper Biesecker.
Her husband, Joseph E. Kirkwood, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1980.
She was employed at Interwoven Co. in Chambersburg; and worked at J. Schoeneman Co. in Chambersburg for 25 years, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.
She was a member and past president of Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America Local 717, Chambersburg; volunteered at Chambersburg Hospital, and was a member of Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary; Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary; and Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224 Ladies Auxiliary, all in Chambersburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Saundra Funk of Chambersburg; one son, Harold T. Kirkwood of Chambersburg; her companion, Elwood L. Bowman of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday at 1 p.m.

Raymond B. Shaffer Jr.

Born March 5, 1944, in Gettysburg, Pa., he was the son of Raymond B. Shaffer Sr. of Adams County, Pa., and the late Della F. Hankey Shaffer.
He attended Frederick Community College, Frederick, Md.
He was a machine operator for Beck Manufacturing in Greencastle, Pa.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a Protestant.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a sister, Joann E. Mickey of Orrstown, Pa.; two brothers, Frederick G. Shaffer of Biglerville, Pa., and Jack W. Shaffer of Chambersburg; nieces and nephews.
Private services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Colen J. Shaffer will officiate.

Born Nov. 7, 1946, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Margaret Reed Culver.
She was a graduate of Cedar Cliff High School in Lemoyne, Pa.; and Polyclinic Radiological School in Harrisburg, Pa.
She was employed in Chambersburg Hospital's Radiology Department until 1976. She then worked for 23 years in the office of Roy Himelfarb, D.D.S. in Chambersburg.
She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Chambersburg.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Warren A. "Mike" Britton; two daughters, Barbara A. Britton of Shippensburg, Pa., and Adria L. Fulton of Chambersburg; two sisters, Mary Wolfe of Cambridge, Neb., and Gale Macko of Grantville, Pa.; a brother, Martin Culver of Lewisberry, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Mumma, in 1997. They were married
Sept. 9, 1966.
She was a 1964 graduate of Waynesboro High School. She attended Award Beauty School in Chambersburg, Pa.
She owned and operated Mary Hopkin's Beauty Salon in Waynesboro; She was employed by Two Guys Department Store in Hagerstown; First National Bank in Greencastle, Pa.; Greencastle Chamber of Commerce; Freeman Shoes; and Rider P.I.E. in Stateline, Pa.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro.
She volunteered for Youth Are Our Concern in Washington Township; and was a member of the Kidney Foundation; and Antietam Humane Society.
She is survived by two sons, Eric C. Mumma and Christopher E. Mumma, both of Waynesboro; a sister, Peggy J. Shade of Waynesboro; two brothers, Paul A. Whitlock of White Marsh, Md., and Gerald L. Whitlock of Quincy, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ordean Whitlock; and a nephew, Timothy Shade.
A Memorial Service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Prudence Yelinek will officiate.
Private graveside services will be at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

QUINCY, Pa. - Paul Leslie Hissong, 87, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of McDowell Road, Greencastle, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, July 12, 1999, at the home.
Born Feb. 3, 1912, in Montgomery Township, Pa., he was the son of the late David Leslie and Fannie S. Gayman Hissong.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Gertrude Meyers Hissong, in 1970. They were married
Feb. 7, 1934. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Marguerite Ramley Clipp Hissong, in 1981. They were married
Feb. 26, 1972.
He attended Scotland, Pa., schools and Peter Township School.
He owned and operated his own farms for more than 50 years, first in Mercersburg, Pa., and then in Greencastle.
He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Upton, Pa., and was a deacon.
He was a member of Westernaires Square Dance Club in Hagerstown; Cadabouts Square Dance Club; Curley Q's Square Dance Club; and Whirley Birds Square Dance Club, all in Chambersburg, Pa.; Ruritan Club in Shady Grove, Pa.; and Greencastle Senior Citizens.
He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn L. Waltz and Pamela J. Bragunier, both of Greencastle, and Thelma A. Rosenquist of Maastricht, Netherlands; two sons, Daryl L. Hissong of Green Bay, Wis., and Kevin P. Hissong of Greencastle; three sisters, Mildred Musselman of Hagerstown, Mae Keener of Mercersburg and Marie Musselman of Greencastle; two brothers, Glenn Hissong and Marvin Hissong, both of Mercersburg; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Fay E. Burkett; and a brother, Ray Hissong.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Greencastle. Pastor Carole A. Kipe will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle.
