CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Howard A. Vanderau, 92, of Penn Hall, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Penn Hall.
Born Jan. 4, 1907, in Guilford Township, Pa., he was the son of the late John Y. and Ida Holsinger Vanderau.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Yeager Vanderau, in 1981.
He was a carpenter at Oyer Construction in Waynesboro, Pa. He retired in 1974.
He was a member of The Open Door Church in Chambersburg and Jolly 60's.
He is survived by a daughter, E. Joan Keller of Chambersburg; three sons, Robert E. Vanderau of New Franklin, Pa., J. William Vanderau of Waynesboro and L. Trump Vanderau of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Revs. Jerry Traister and Arthur Brown will officiate.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.; and Saturday at 9 a.m.

Preston R. Stine
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Preston R. "Whitey" Stine, 74, of 204 Strickler Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Waynesboro Hospital.
Born June 26, 1925, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Samuel Denton and Beulah M. Beck Stine.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaRue D. Niedentohl Stine, in 1985. They were married
July 12, 1947.
He attended Waynesboro schools.
He drove a truck for Blue Ridge Fruit Exchange; and then owned and operated his own truck, doing general hauling. Prior to retiring in 1983, he was employed by Mack Trucks in Hagerstown as a supervisor in the Cylinder Block Machine Department. He then drove a school bus for Wishard's Transportation.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1191 and the former North Chapter No. 739 AARP, both of Waynesboro; and National AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Doris F. Adams Beaver Stine, whom he married
June 7, 1987; three sons, Douglas R. Stine and Gregory D. Stine, both of Waynesboro, and David L. Stine of Milwaukee; a stepdaughter, Susan L. Neill of Shippensburg, Pa.; two stepsons, Janvier E. Beaver of Walkersville, Md., and F. Dwight Beaver of Merryville, Tenn.; three sisters, Hilda R. Stine of Enola, Pa., and Marilyn R. Stouffer and Gloria Mae Stine, both of Waynesboro; four brothers, Ambrose J. Stine of St. Thomas, Roy H. Stine formerly of Waynesboro, Harold E. Stine of Greencastle, Pa., and Ronald E. Stine of Linglestown, Pa.; a half sister, Helen Kuhn of Chambersburg; two brothers-in-law that he raised, Lee W. Neidentohl and Jerry M. Neidentohl, both of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandson; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert D. Stine, Lawrence C. Stine and Kenneth E. Stine; and a half brother, Samuel Stine.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Harold W. Walton will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Helen H. Riffle
QUINCY, Pa. - Helen H. Hull Riffle, 86, of Quincy United Methodist Church, and formerly of 6928 Landfill Road, Waynesboro, Pa., and Akron, Ohio, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Dec. 9, 1912, in Piney Creek, Md., she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Margaret Nusbaum Hull.
Her husband, Woodrow Wilson Riffle, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in 1966. They were married
July 2, 1938.
She was employed as a seamstress at Connie's Sportswear in Waynesboro, retiring in 1976. She also had been a school bus driver for Quincy School District.
She is survived by two sons, Richard R. Riffle of Mont Alto, Pa., and Charles L. Riffle of Fayetteville, Pa.; one sister, Arlene Williams of Michaux Manor, South Mountain, Pa.; one brother, Kenneth Hull of Taneytown, Md.; two grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter, and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Dehart and Catherine Hull; and two brothers, Sterling Hull and Richard Hull.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Chaplain Carolyn Belenski will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mont Alto.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m.
Chalmere M. Cordell
WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Chalmere M. "Chic" Cordell, 92, of 614 Park Street, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 8, 1907, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Levi and Bessie Valance Cordell.

He was a 1926 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
He was employed with Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro for 46 years, retiring in 1968, as a supervisor in the Chaser Department. He also owned and operated a sign painting business.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rouzerville, Pa., where he organized and directed the senior and junior church choirs. He also served as Sunday School superintendent, served on the church council and taught Sunday School for a number of years.
He was a member of A.T.H. & L. Fire Company, Waynesboro.
He had his own dance band in the late 20's and early 30's called "Moonlight Serenaders" and played for a dance band in Baltimore by the name of "Ted Zamecki and His Dance Band."
He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn C. Dewease of Waynesboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman L. Cordell.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. at Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville. The Rev. Steven Amundson will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon in Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Church, P.O. Box 240, Rouzerville, PA 17250.
Ethel B. Adams
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ethel B. She was a member of the the local chapter of Franklin County Farm Women and attended the Senior Center in Fort Loudon, Pa.
She is survived by one daughter, Rose G. Johnson of Chambersburg; one son, Ray T. Adams of Fannettsburg; one sister, Verna Arrington of Goode, Va.; two step-grandchildren; three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, Pa. The Rev. Ted Hale will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Fannett Township, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
