Born Aug. 4, 1932, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary Wasilesky Staley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Caldwell, in 1997.

She was employed at Samuel G. Dixon State Hospital, South Mountain, for 18 years as a nurse's aide.

She is survived by a son, John H. Staley of Fayetteville; a sister, Muriel Baker of South Mountain; a brother, Robert Staley of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Caldwell, in 1997; a sister; and a brother.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Pastor Wilbur F. Besecker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Alice A. Shaffer

SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. - Alice Albin Shaffer, 86, of South Mountain Restoration Center, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died of heart failure Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital after surgery.

Born March 6, 1913, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lucy Foltz Albin.

She had been employed at Waynesboro Knitting Mills.

She was a Lutheran.

She is survived by a son, Ronald Shaffer of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; a daughter, Carolyn Lloyd of Fort Pierce, Fla.; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Fahrney and Jane Spitzer; and two brothers, Fred Albin and Arthur Albin.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Taylor-Ruffner Funeral Home, 712 Chestnut St., Lebanon, Pa. Burial will be in Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Lebanon.

Nella J. Perry

BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. - Nella Jo Moore Perry, 71, of 15736 Valley Ave., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born April 8, 1928, in Pikeville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bartley Moore.

She attended Pikeville schools.

She attended Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church in Tomstown, Pa.

She is survived by two daughters, Lorene Woodrum of Blue Ridge Summit, with whom she resided, and Sharon V. Grigg of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; two sons, Kerman Rowe of Gastonia, N.C., and Richard A. Perry of Coeur D'Alene; a sister, Lorene Buzzard of Whitesville, W.Va.; a brother, Myrtie Dalton of Washington; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Dalton and Kurl Dalton.

A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Jaye M. Bartle will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, 7885 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.

Baltzer A. DeShong

NEEDMORE, Pa. - Baltzer A. DeShong, 82, of Needmore, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, June 21, 1999, at the Veteran's Affairs Nursing Home Care Unit in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born July 7, 1916, in Needmore, he was the son of the late Norman B. and Rose I. Mellott DeShong.

He was a school bus contractor for Southern Fulton for 18 years. He was a Belfast Township supervisor for 16 years. He was last employed as an owner/operator truck driver at Union Equipment Inc.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a Protestant.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Hixson DeShong, whom he married June 1, 1958; a daughter, Sheila Swope of Warfordsburg, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Brandy Swope.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest DeShong and Lloyd DeShong.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Needmore Bible Church, Needmore. Pastor Doug Poffenberger will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg, Pa., with military honors by Fulton Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Pa.

Richard B. Dell

SHADE GAP, Pa. - Richard B. Bell, 72, of Shade Gap, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, June 21, 1999, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, Pa.

Born Nov. 17, 1926, in Mapleton Depot, Pa., he was the son of the late A. Clinton and Froan Bair Dell.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., after 37 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an airplane mechanic.

He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap.

He was a member of Shade Gap Area Lions Club; Cromwell Lodge No. 572, F & AM, Orbisonia, Pa.; and Madden-Wennick Post No. 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred M. Parsons, whom he married July 20, 1952; five children, Connie Long of Mount Nebo, W.Va., Larry Dell, James Dell and Cindy Book, all of Shippensburg, Pa, . and Jo Struchen of Three Springs, Pa.; sisters and brothers, Frank Dell of Martinsburg, W.Va., Margaret Miller of Three Springs, Patricia Snyder of Etters, Pa., and Barbara Frehn of Maddensville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap. The Rev. Virginia Eminhizer will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Blairs Mills, Pa.

Friends may call Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the church, where Cromwell Lodge will conduct a masonic memorial service at noon.

Arrangements are by Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia.

Cody R. Thomas

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Cody R. Thomas, 11, of 10370 Knob Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at his home. He suffered from Cerebral Palsy and Scoliosis since birth.

Born July 5, 1987, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of E. Mark Kinzer Jr. and Cindy Smith Kinzer of Mercersburg.

He attended Franklin Learning Center of Chambersburg.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Krystal B. Kinzer and a brother, E. Mark Kinzer III, both of Mercersburg; paternal grandmother, Dianne L. Winegard of Hanover, Pa.; paternal grandfather, E. Mark Kinzer Sr. of Chicina, Ala.; maternal great-grandmother, Theda Hartman of Smithsburg; paternal great-grandmother, Gloria L. Grimes of Westminster, Md.; paternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Ruth May Kinzer of Westminster.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Paul W. Moore will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to Franklin Learning Center, c/o Diane Richardson's Room, 2397 Loop Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.
