Born Sept. 30, 1918, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Blanche M. McNew Corwell.
She was a seamstress at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg, Pa. She retired in 1970 after 22 years of service.
She was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Womens Army Corps as a staff car driver.
She is survived by four sisters, Anna V. Toms, Evelyn Seaman, Maxine L. Bletsch and Yvonne A. Elser, all of Chambersburg; and a brother, Richard E. Corwell of Chambersburg.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Wesley Wampler in 1991; a sister; and four brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George S. Mouer Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post No. 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Tuesday one hour before the services at the funeral home.
William Hauman
WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - William "Bud" Hauman, 86, of Warfordsburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.
Born Oct. 14, 1912, in Plum Run, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond C. Hauman and Lucy Belle Mellott Hauman Smith.
He worked for Fairchild Industries as a machinist and later for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
He was a game warden in Fulton County for a number of years.
He was a Baptist.
He was a member of Region 8 UAW.
He is survived by his wife, Juna Hoyle Hauman of Warfordsburg, whom he married
Nov. 7, 1976; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Burger of Westminster, Md.; a stepson, Kenneth Mellott of Hanover, Pa.; two step grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. Belvy White will officiate. Burial will be in Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Cemetery, North of Hancock.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open today from 2 to 9 p.m.
Catherine E. North

Born Jan. 22, 1925, in Willow Hill, Pa., she was the daughter of the late David F. and Ida Mae Shoop Umbrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell W. North, in 1987.
She was a seamstress at U-Wanna-Wash-Frocks in Fort Loudon. She retired in 1987.
She was a member of Burnt Cabins Presbyterian Church.
She attended meetings of the Fort Loudon Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley H. Pine of Fort Loudon; a son, Charles R. North of Fannettsburg, Pa.; three sisters, Ivy Ickes of Fannettsburg, Mary Lou Ocker and Rose Taylor, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; a brother, James Umbrell of Spring Run, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Inc., 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg. The Rev. Marlin Neil will officiate. Burial will be in Lower Path Valley Cemetery, Fannettsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Inc.; and Tuesday one hour before the services at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open today from 4 to 9 p.m.
Maurice W. Burness
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Maurice W. Born Aug. 22, 1918, in Bridgeport, Conn., he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine Burness.
He graduated from high school in Bridgeport. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.
He later became a contract worker for Boeing Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown. He retired in 1989.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Waynesboro.
He was a member of Eagles Club, Inc.; Joe Stickell American Legion Post No. 15; B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 731; and William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post No. 695, all of Waynesboro.
He is survived by a sister, Ann-Mary Mercer of Stratford, Conn.
A graveside funeral service will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Waynesboro. Father Thomas J. Hemler will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.
Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
Mary V. Moats
QUINCY, Pa. - Mary V. "Bep" Moats, 99, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of Tomstown Road, Waynesboro, Pa., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Friday, June 18, 1999, at Quincy Home.
Born June 13, 1900, in Fairview, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma C. Creager Moats.
For 56 years, she worked at Waynesboro Knitting Mill. She retired in 1972 to take care of her daughter.
She was a member of Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church, Tomstown, Pa.
She is survived by a grandson, Greg Henderson of Quincy; a great-grandson, Ryan Henderson of Fairview, with whom she lived before entering the nursing home; a sister, Annie B. Layman of Fairfield, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice M. Henderson in 1986; two sisters, Rebecca Knepper and Cecilia Moats; and three brothers, Omar Moats, William Moats and Charles Moats.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Jaye M. Bartle will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the services at the funeral home.

She worked as a machine operator for 30 years at Waynesboro Knitting Mill. She retired in 1982.
She was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Waynesboro.
She was a member of the National AARP.
She is survived by three sons, Robert L. Shearer of Waynesboro, Richard A. Shearer of Hagerstown and Arthur C. Shearer of Rowlett, Texas; three sisters, Pearl Moats, Fannie Rock and Jean Rock, all of Waynesboro; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Norman R. Shearer Jr. in 1990; and two sisters, Ella Diza and Betty Noll.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor K. Allan Mummert will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Tuesday half an hour before the services at the funeral home.
