Born Jan. 22, 1919, in New Paris, Pa., he was the son of the late Orie and Carrie Harbaugh Carson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace M. Cornelius Carson, in 1986.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, in 1980, with 34 years' combined federal service. He had worked as a farmer in Bedford County, Pa.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Open Door Church, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Detrich-Brechbill Post No. 612, American Legion, St. Thomas, Pa.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy M. West of Chambersburg; two sons, James Carson of Marion, Pa., and Richard Carson of Chambersburg; a stepdaughter, Saundra M. Effland of Chambersburg; a stepson, A. Garey Longenecker of Wyoming, Pa.; a sister, Rena Ritchey of New Paris, Pa.; a brother, Vance E. Carson of New Paris; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Revs. Charles F. Tolbert and Arthur Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home; and Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Born March 28, 1909, in St. Thomas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John P. and Abbie J. Meyers Hartman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Tood" Hill, in 1976.
She was a 1928 graduate of the former Lemasters (Pa.) High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Chambersburg.
She was a member of Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by a daughter, D. Black of Chambersburg; a son, Edwin Hill of Etters, Pa.; a sister, Eleanora Statler of Menno Haven, Chambersburg; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 1811 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to a charity of one's choice.

She attended Brown's Mill and Greencastle-Antrim High School, Greencastle, Pa.
She was employed by Regency Thermographers, Waynesboro. She later worked at LSI, Waynesboro; and as a residential aide at Hearthstone Retirement Home, Waynesboro.
She was a member of Family Life Worship Center, Zullinger, Pa.
She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Martin, whom she married
May 29, 1998; three daughters, Jessica A. Kent of Waynesboro, Valerie L. Reeves of Greencastle and Millicent N. Reese of Hagerstown; a son, Shawn F. Wetzel of Waynesboro; two sisters, Donna Sollenberger of Scotland, Pa., and Lois Kershner of Chambersburg, Pa.; three brothers, Paul Beeler of Zullinger, William Beeler of Greencastle and Gary Beeler of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen R. Beeler, in 1996.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Family Life Worship Center, Zullinger. Pastor Roger D. Cales will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery, near Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

She was a 1933 graduate of McConnellsburg High School.
She had worked for United Telephone Co. as an operator; and at the former H-P Store, McConnellsburg, as a clerk.
She was a member of McConnellsburg United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Melvin Strait Jr. of Mechanicsburg; one grandchild, Rebecca Firestone; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, George B. Alexander.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. The Rev. Donald Bard will officiate.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ethel F. Mellott

She retired from J. Schoeneman Co. in 1984, where she had worked as a seamstress for 37 years. She had also worked at Letterkenny Army Depot.
She was a member of Fort Loudon United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, was former member of the choir and served on church committees.
She was a member of Norland AARP Norland Chapter.
She is survived by seven nieces and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Fort Loudon United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Rauhut will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, St. Thomas and at 10 a.m. at the church on Friday. The funeral home will be open Thursday from 2 p.m.
