CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Leonard E. Shank, 88, of 117 Village Square, Chambersburg, and formerly of 1860 Edgar Ave., Chambersburg, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.
Born July 26, 1910, in Maugansville, he was the son of the late Christian J. and Fannie Carpenter Shank.

He and his wife had operated a farm on Ragged Edge Road, Chambersburg, until 1961. He then worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of Chambersburg Mennonite Church, Chambersburg, where he served as a trustee for many years and served as secretary of the church Cemetery. He also taught Sunday School for a number of years.
He was the former Coordinator of Local Mennonite Disaster Service, serving Franklin, Cumberland and Adams counties in Pennsylvania as well as Washington County. He volunteered with Choice Book Ministry in the area for many years.
He is survived by four daughters, Doris Fritz and Darlene Rosenberry, both of Fayetteville, Pa., and Dorothy Crider and Dolly Myers, both of Chambersburg; one son, Leon E. Shank of Crestview, Fla.; one sister, Carrie Grove of Hagerstown; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Nelson Martin, the Rev. Jerry Roth, the Rev. Preston Frey and the Rev. Jere Horst will officiate. Burial will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Cemetery, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Chambersburg Mennonite Church.

John K. Benchoff

Born Dec. 20, 1940, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late T.H. Krebs and Lucy Chambers Foust Benchoff.
He graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and East Tennessee State University.
He had been employed as manager of Administrative Services at Grove Worldwide from 1970 to 1988.
A descendant of Col. Benjamin Chambers, the founder of Chambersburg, he served as a Civil War consultant for the movie "Gettysburg" and was a nationally recognized Civil War expert.
He was a member of Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring; Sons of the American Revolution; and Kittochtinny Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Misner Benchoff; a son, Darin Heintzelman of Chambersburg; and three grandsons.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, 221 N. Main St. The Rev. William H. Harter will officiate. Burial will be in Falling Spring Graveyard.
Visitation will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Monday one hour before the services at the church.

Nelson A. Gift

Born Feb. 2, 1920, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Rush and Elva Forney Gift.
He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot.
He was a U.S. Army veteran stationed at Pearl Harbor. He received six bronze stars.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Andrews Gift; three daughters, Billie Pyne of Newburg, Pa., Bonnie Laman of Chambersburg and Cindy Ormsby of Fulton, N.Y.; three sons, Robert Gift of Woodbridge, Va., Michael Gift of Willow Hill, Pa., and Glenn Gift of Chambersburg; a brother, Richard Gift of Chambersburg; 17 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and two brothers.
Services will be today at 8 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. David Anderson will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. before the services at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open today from 2 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in Path Valley Cemetery, Spring Run, Pa.

Norma J. Baer

Born July 22, 1940, in Montgomery Township, Pa., she was the daughter of Mary Crist Auman of Chambersburg and the late Brinton B. Auman.
She was a 1958 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
She was a receptionist and bookkeeper with Nassaux Hemsley Inc. of Chambersburg since 1964.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Baer; one son, Brian D. Baer, at home; three sisters, Nancy Taylor of Mercersburg, Pa., Rowena Smith and Doris Mills, both of Chambersburg; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Charles L. Kind and the Rev. K. Hull Byers will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.

Earl M. Weaver
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Earl M. Born Jan. 6, 1921, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late William D. and Bertha Hose Weaver.
He was a retired self-employed farmer. After retiring he drove a truck for Zeger Trucking Co. and last worked as a courier for Valley Bank and Trust Co. of Chambersburg.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II in Africa and Italy.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle, Pa., where he served on the church council, sang in the choir and was a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday school.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary E. Mong Weaver; three sons, Earl M. Weaver Jr., William D. Weaver and Douglas W. Weaver, all of Chambersburg; four sisters, Rosealie Rowe and H. Jean Harr, both of Hagerstown, and Grace Green and Marguerite Newcomer, both of Smithsburg; one brother, William R. Weaver of Boonsboro; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Heffner will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. in Greencastle, and Monday at the church one hour before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Memorial Fund of Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
