Born Feb. 3, 1921, in Williamson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Ray Hissong and Stella B. Ommert Hissong Benedick.
She was a graduate of St. Thomas (Pa.) High School; and Chambersburg Business College.
She was employed by Rose U. Plough Insurance and Realty Co. of Chambersburg; and worked as a secretary for the Tuscarora School District.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mercersburg; and LOYALS Fellowship Group.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Fries, whom she married
June 15, 1947; two daughters, Sharon L. Fries of Mercersburg and Diane E. Pryor of Greencastle, Pa.; a son, Alan T. Fries of Mercersburg; five sisters, June Kriner of Waynesboro, Pa., Miriam Springer of Upton, Pa., Carolyn Snyder and Joanne Harmon, both of Mercersburg, and Betty Lee Johnston of Greencastle, Pa.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Seth Benedick; a sister, Evelyn Schenck; and a brother, Wayne Hissong.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church of Mercersburg. The Rev. Michael R. Brendle will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Angel Handbell Choir of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8 Linden Ave., Mercersburg, PA 17236.
Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg.
Dale G. Klobetanz
ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Dale G. "Shorty" Klobetanz, 77, of 3483 Keller Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at his home.
Born Dec. 8, 1921, in Eldorado, Pa., he was the son of the late Otto and Nanny L. Locke Klobetanz.
He retired in 1972 from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II.
He was a member of Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, all of Chambersburg, Harry Lackhove Post 517 American Legion in Mercersburg, Pa. and Marine Corps League, Chambersburg.
He is survived by two daughters, Virginia L. Shew of Shippensburg, Pa., and Vicki A. Baughman of Chambersburg; three sisters, Pat Naig of Hatboro, Pa., Sylvia Mowery and Mary Johnson, both of Altoona, Pa.; two brothers, Merle Klobetanz of McConnellsburg, Pa., and Earl Klobetanz of Wichita, Kan.; his former wife, Martha Dewalt Klobetanz of Chambersburg; his companion, Dorothy Mellott of Markes, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Fair Ridge Assembly of God Church in Shade Gap, Pa. The Rev. Gary Shew will officiate. Burial will be in Fair Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg.
Russell J. Baer
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Bishop Russell J. Baer, 78, of 5676 Bossler Road, Elizabethtown, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at his home.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Henry M. and Ella Keener Baer.
He received a bachelor's degree in theology and B.A. from Eastern Mennonite School, now Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Va. He attended the University of Tennessee and Elizabethtown College.
A minister in the Mennonite Church, he served in Ophir, Ky., Knoxville, Tenn., Steelton, Pa., and Good's Mennonite Church, Bainbridge, Pa., where he held his membership. He served as a bishop in Elizabethtown District of Lancaster Mennonite Conference from 1969-89.
He was employed as a school teacher for 30 years in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. He was an original faculty member at Kraybill Mennonite School, Mt. Joy, where he taught from 1949-78. After his retirement, he was a substitute teacher at Lancaster Mennonite High School.
He was a volunteer for International Gift and Thrift Shop, Mt. Joy.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Shank Baer; two daughters, Shirley Kurtz of Keyser, W.Va., and Patricia Stoltzfus of Morgantown, W.Va.; four sons, Conrad Baer and Ronald Baer, both of Spokane, Wash., Gerald Baer of Elizabethtown and James Baer of Bainbridge; one half-sister, Ruth Esther Baer of Greencastle, Pa.; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Norman Baer, Lehman Baer, Lewis Baer and Landis Baer.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 S. Spruce St., Elizabethtown. Bishop Enos D. Martin and the Rev. J. Nelson Bechtold will officiate. Burial will be in Good's Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church and on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service.
The family requests flowers be omitted.

Alberta E. Clippinger
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alberta E. Born Sept. 22, 1912, in Taylor Township, she was the daughter of the late Wilson Montgomery and Mary E. Knepper Clippinger.
She was employed by Interwoven Stocking Co., Chambersburg, for 14 years; and then cared for her father for 23 years.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by five sisters, Elizabeth Cutchall of Burnt Cabins, Pa., Nora Appleby, Margaret Mellott and Laura Wogan, all of Chambersburg, and Myrtle Knepper of St. Thomas, Pa.; three brothers, James Clippinger of Chambersburg, Samuel Clippinger of R.D. Three Springs, Pa., and Lester Clippinger of Burnt Cabins.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Millie Ruth; and two brothers, John Clippinger and Monte Clippinger.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, Pa. The Rev. George Clippinger will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, R.D. Waterfall, Pa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lois C. Sedelmaier
FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Lois Curry Sedelmaier, 81, of 6375 Chambersburg Road, and formerly of Watchung, N.J., Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Piney Mountain Nursing Home, Fayetteville.
She was born Sept. 23, 1917, in England.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Sedelmaier, in 1993.
She graduated from a school in England.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one sister, Beryl Curry of Florida; two nephews, Frederick W. Sedelmaier of Martinsville, N.J., and Ronald A. Sedelmaier of Clark, N.J.; two great-nieces and three great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, N.J. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

Zelda G. Wise

Born July 8, 1907, in New Franklin, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Maurice F. and Sarah A. Flohr Manahan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Wise, in 1992.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hades Church of the Brethren near Waynesboro, Pa., taught Sunday school and helped with the Bible Release Time Program.
She is survived by four sons, Elwood E. Wise of State Line, Pa., Dwayne E. Wise, Richard L. Wise and Paul N. Wise, all of Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Manahan, Della Lesher and Catherine Stouffer.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Hades Church of the Brethren. The Revs. Dean Gearhart, Donald Clapper and George Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa.; and at the church at 9 a.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Camp Joy-El, 3741 Joy-El Drive, Greencastle, PA 17225.
