Born Jan. 15, 1913, in South Mountain, Pa., he was the son of the late Lewis Dennis and Floy C. Baltozer Kauffman.
His wife, Catherine Marie Wagaman Kauffman, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died in1995.
He attended New Baltimore School.
He retired in 1975 as a mechanical supervisor from Samuel Dixon State Hospital, now South Mountain Restoration Center. He had worked as a service manager for Brown's Buick in Waynesboro, Pa., and at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Pond Bank Independent Church in Chambersburg, Pa.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1191, Legion of Moose, and was governor for two terms. He was a member of Eagles Club Order of the Owls Nest 1073, all of Waynesboro; and South Mountain Fire Department.
He is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Baker of Fayetteville; one son, Charles W. Kauffman Jr. of Chambersburg; one sister, Zelda Kauffman of South Mountain; one brother, Donald L. Kauffman of Gettysburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vada Kauffman; and sisters and brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Gerald Carbaugh will officiate. Burial will be in Strang's Cemetery in South Mountain.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rita P. Lambert
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Rita P. Born Oct. 6, 1911, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Santa Macaroni Pinnise.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, Chambersburg, Pa. The Rev. William H. Harter will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Riverton, N.J.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg.

Mary E. Mummert

Born Sept. 20, 1900, in Ellerton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Charlotte Delauter Biser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther F. "Brownie" Mummert, whom she married

Jane Martin, both of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Evelyn Faye Zeger of Fayetteville, Pa.; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary E. Myers; one son, Austin J. Biser; one grandson, Brian Yeager and a number of sisters and brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Dean Mouk will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Bishop Russell J. Baer
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Bishop Russell J. Baer, 78, of 5676 Bossler Road, Elizabethtown, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Henry M. and Ella Keener Baer.
He received a Bachelor of theology degree and B.A. from Eastern Mennonite School (now Eastern Mennonite University), Harrisonburg, Va. and attended the University of Tennessee and Elizabethtown College.
As a minister in the Mennonite Church, and he served in Ophir, Ky, Knoxville, Tenn., Steelton, Pa., and Good's Mennonite Church, Bainbridge, Pa., where he held his membership. He also served as a bishop in Elizabethtown District of Lancaster Mennonite Conference from 1969-89. In addition to his ministerial duties, he was employed as a school teacher for 30 years in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. He was an original faculty member at Kraybill Mennonite School, Mt. Joy, where he taught from 1949-78. After his retirement from KMS, he was a substitute teacher at Lancaster Mennonite High School for several years.
He served as a volunteer for International Gift and Thrift Shop, Mt. Joy.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gladys Shank Bear; two daughters, Shirley Kurtz of Keyser, W.Va., and Patricia Stoltzfus of Morgantown, W.Va.; four sons, Conrad Baer and Ronald Bear, both of Spokane, Wash., Gerald Baer of Elizabethtown and James Bear of Bainbridge; one half-sister, Ruth Esther Baer of Greencastle, Pa. and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Norman Baer, Lehman Baer, Lewis Baer and Landis Baer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 S. Spruce St., Elizabethtown. The Bishop Enos D. Martin and the Rev. J. Nelson Bechtold will officiate. Burial will be in Good's Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church and on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family requests flowers please be omitted.

Jack E. Houser

Born April 1, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ray S. and Hazel Evans Houser.
He was a carpenter with Nitterhouse Concrete Products in Chambersburg; after 22 years of service, he retired in 1982.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Berneda Frank Houser, whom he married
Dec. 23, 1954; a daughter, Jill Bard of Chambersburg; a son, Jack H. Houser of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a sister, Ann E. Hauser of Wakefield, R.I.; two brothers, Thomas S. Houser of Chambersburg and Richard M. Houser of Mount Laurel, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Houser.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate.
There will be no public visitation.
